Getting a free ride this season.

Hold up play is sometimes good, but mostly sh1t.

Slow as a slug. Half arsed jumps for headers.

A rather measly 7 goals in 34 games (1 goal every 4.8 games). Charlie Kelman 5 goals in 26 (1 goal in 5.2 games).

No better than Dykes. Who himself was piss poor, but still scored 12 in his first season.

Missing all those chances created for him.

Winning headers in the top two thirds of the pitch has been an issue all season.

Nah, he'd have got a couple of goals if he were playing for Boro today. I really like Kone - we're not playing to his strengths by booting the ball up to the halfway line for him to try and win. Warnock would get him 20+ goals a season.

I think Kone’s a young man doing well in his first season at this level in a bang average team without much attacking support.

Some good performances. But regularly turns in poor performances. Today being one example of many. It’s an all too often occurrence.

Poor touch, and loses the ball with alarming regularity.

Not the answer as a hold up striker.

Agreed. Harsh to be writing him off at this stage. Still a young player and next season will tell us more. Definitely needs more goals but given what's around him I think he has earned another season to show what he can do.

Not writing him off. Just calling a spade a spade.

He’s been poor in far too many games this season. Potential is there, but his touch and hold up play is poor. Lots of work to do if he is to make it as a hold up striker.

Kone is one of the least of our problems.

Kone has shown that he can be a decent finisher but we are not creating the chances for him.

Not sure why you are comparing him to Lyndon who missed some wonderful chances during his time here, Richard hasn't even had the opportunities to do that.

I think we have already had this debate.

I'm on the side of Mr Beef. Mr Kone was playing on Hackney Marshes no less than 4 years ago.

He has something but it is going to take time to come through at this level.

Comparing him to Dykes not only on goals scored. Dykes scored 12 in his first season. But more specifically, his hold up game is no better than Dykes. Both fits and spurts. Sometimes good, oftentimes bad. He’s no better at hold up than Dykes, who wasn’t very good at it. Genuinely shocked if some fans can’t see how often Kone gives the ball away.

Possibly the last player of all I’d be digging out. Works hard for lost causes with no service while carrying an injury various others in the squad would be out for months with in his first season at this level. He’s one of the few positives of the season, imperfect as he is.

He is young but I am still to be convinced .
For me he isn’t athletic enough , not quick over the first few yards , maybe the socks half down and the way he runs but he always looks overweight and unfit … to me anyway , He gives static defenders a tough battle but quick sharp centre backs contain him pretty easily . Some tidy finishes this season to his credit .

A better coach gets more out of him
Maybe wingers who put a decent ball into the box not just once every few games , having somebody play in the same half as him to allow for layoffs .

Hes the least of our worries in this squad

The lad has been playing on the edge of his knee falling apart for weeks now. Not sure what people want of him? He has no support and no service.

Never knowingly right.

Nothing to do with service.

How about being able to retain the ball more often than not? Might be useful to this side you know. Given we toss it away for fun, and Kone is a significant part of that problem.

He's probably been a knock away from a major injury or ACL for about 3 weeks now and we keep putting him in. It's ludicrous. He's 22.

The service to him is either launched from 60 yards away or no existent.

Never knowingly right.

Not saying that he doesn't give the ball away sometimes but as the lone striker he often has two or three defenders on him and often no quick lay off opportunities.

As was said before . We’ve had this conversation. We had 30% possession today and what we did have we ended up giving back to the opposition.
He’s the least of our problems at the moment.

I try not to post on here after a game like yesterday... its a wonder I post at all as all our games are like yesterday...

In 13 days I have shipped the best part of 600 sovs watching this shower of sh!te...and possibly a day and a half of travelling and actually watching, and at my age that is serious time wasted... and it was wasted

I said on another thread that of all the injuries we have Madsen is going to affect us the most and since then in 3 games (counting Southampton) we have shipped 10 goals and not scored one.

I was expecting the usual backlash... but I could not believe this thread... someone giving Kone a tug...

To the OP have you been to any of these games last 3 games, or any before ? We are in serious danger of ruining this boys career!! And I'm not exaggerating in that... we are flogging him to death

I was watching him Saturday and I'm genuinely worried for him... he runs and puts himself about, as said on here without Madsen our attacking plan is lump it up and off you go Richard... and that is it.... he as no service, no support .... nothing, but the lad still tries and still puts himself about...

I have honestly come to the stage where I don't want to go anymore.. Birmingham/ Leicester absolutely no chance ...

If you honestly think the answer is Kone is no good, you are not asking the right question sorry

Kone when fed, will score!

I don't think his hold up play etc. is that good, but we surely signed him because of his ability to score first and foremost. In which case, we need to play in the manner that saw him score regularly for WWFC.

On my comms yesterday, the co-comm said something interesting: a friend of his at WWFC raved about Kone but said he hoped where ever he would go, the new club wouldnt over-coach him and focus on his natural scoring ability. Several months in, whatever we're doing with Kone, we're not improving him!

Imo, Kone works hard for the team, unlike some others.
Until our manager sorts out our, tactics, we are gonna
struggle, big time ☹️

We have a plan A? What is it? jog around behind the ball out of possession, don't close down or tackle, let them into the final third and the box untouched and hope they stick the shot wide?
