I have just settled a law suit against Ticketmaster in the US for $386m!

Actually, there's a bit more to the story then that, as it was a class action law suit, involving thousands of people, conducting millions of transactions.

In essence; people who bought tickets for events in America between 1999-2013 brought claims over the excessive transaction fees charged by Ticketmaster and also the fees charged by UPS to deliver those tickets to some punters. I hasten to add, I merely got an email asking if I wanted to join the claim, having worked over their for most of 2005. Other then that, I largely forgot about it.

However, it seems to not only have lead to some sort of redress (although the actual currency being used are vouchers for you Ticketmaster account) but Ticketmaster and presumably, UPS, have cut their fees.

I am sure like me, the manner in which 'fees' are added to the purchase of tickets is one of those annoying things you'd happily raise if ever invited on to Room 101. But it does beg some questions about the practice adopted by Ticketmaster this side of the pond.

I am going to email my California lawyers (no idea who they are!) and ask, had they thought of looking in the UK.

John, have long held the belief that Ticketmaster are nothing more than thieving bar stewards and the worst type of ticket touts which government after government in this country has done nothing about. I certainly believe that in terms of speed that some events are sold out and hey presto tickets for such events very quickly appear on Ticketmasters sister site that specialises in ticket resales means that they were never sold in the first place, held back by Ticketmaster and then 'resold' by them at extra-ordinary prices.

Well dear boy, what are we going to do about it?

Could you give more detail about the secondary website transactions etc.? If so, then I feel a strongly worded letter to my MP coming on. Of course, if more people were to write, then we would have momentum - Ticketmaster today, FIFA tomorrow.

Give me the ammo DW and I will give you justice!

Ticketbastard. That's what I refer to them as.

I'll tell you who else I'm developing a lot of mistrust and hate towards: Tripadvisor. My theory is that they're strongly, and quite successfully, courting business in places like Vietnam and are willing to censor things at the request of owners to achieve that. I wrote a bad review of a place for the first time ever last month. Tripadvisor took it down after 2 weeks saying I hadn't clicked on some link to verify it (which was balls). I resubmitted the review, got a massive load of tosh back from them. Now they have a different person replying with the same form email as the first time. Trying to wear me down. The whole thing stinks. Fcuking society.

Great news. Ticketmaster, a business built on the sale and distribution of tickets despite being fcking useless at the sale and distribution of tickets.

that's capitalism eating itself isn't it? i'm not suggesting anyone does anything about it but one day people will be sick of it and something violent will happen. It's got to happen some day, hopefully i'll be sufficiently middle-aged to be content with complaining on internet forums at

the government can't be allowed to wrestle control of the information age by shouting 'terrorists' or 'paedophiles' at us, the internet honestly in my opinion is the apex of modern thought even if we don't treat it as such, people can access and write opinions no matter how insane without fear of reprimand. LFW isn't often my cup of tea but its hardly the Munich Putsch. It could be worse

ahem,

I feel terrible for my ancestors really, you thought the Stazi were bad collecting scents in glass jars but this'll be a whole other invasion of privacy
