| Injuries or Issues 07:57 - Aug 10 with 1403 views | numptydumpty | Beale did say issues in interview couple of times but Amos and Willock again not available after one game back. Difficult to take. Some players perhaps trying force new contracts or want to move elsewhere. Pure speculation but so many injuries already, it's mad and to key players also !!! I doubt this is an explanation, but it's all rather strange whatever !!! Whatever is going on, it's weird !!! But contrary to this argument, also all of our new signings have picked up injuries in their time with us so that suggests not. Clarke Salter and Richards injuries in training. Paal now injured and Roberts has had an injury after 45 minutes playing time. In fact our worst players supposedly having NOT picked up injuries likewise. To be fair, if I had not seen Beale's interview at the end, and they not scored a worldy at end of game, i would have been happy. Ie two wins on bounce and another new player showing quality, along with promise from Armstrong also. Are our players made of glass ???? It's very odd in the extreme after just three games of new season.. We can only speculate without full information but that was a worrying admission to make public. [Post edited 10 Aug 2022 8:12]

| Injuries or Issues on 08:25 - Aug 10 with 1253 views | bosh67 | I spoke to Roberts at the match on Saturday and in his case it has been a straight forward injury. With Willock the issue is that the hamstring tear was the worst kind and training can never replicate match day speed and impact. Same for Amos who again has to be managed game to game. So we have a set of players who have returned from severe injuries and over the last year only Field seems to have shaken the cobwebs of a major injury. I may be wrong but I don't think the issues referred to are contractual or otherwise, simply the issues of managing players either returning from bad injuries or managing those who have historical injury issues. With Amos his issues are similar to Faurlin's. 2 ACLs at an early age in a game that demands high impact on joints. We do seem to suffer a lot of thigh issues and again that is mostly impact related. Our issue is that some of our best players manage some of the worst injuries. | |

Thanks for the inside info Bosh Injuries dealt with very differently today. But quicker movements and sudden changes of direction or impact is greatly different to decades ago also. Was worried a little. Sounds like our medical team are being extremely careful. But it's always a period of uncertainty during the transfer window for all clubs, and we could lose players still to transfers or loans but am assuming plan b c d and beyond have all been investigated and available should certain scenarios occur. | Injuries or Issues on 21:31 - Aug 10 with 945 views | MrSheen | Question - are players lighter or heavier than 30/40 years ago? Better nutrition vs bulk/muscle and generally bigger people. I know rugby players are about 3 stone heavier but never seen it discussed regarding footballers. Might explain joint and ligament injuries despite better surgery, given more weight combined with more ground covered.

There was a lot of talk about the newer boots helping cause this type of inquires bladesstick more in the turf when turning so higher risk of tweaking or pulling something , seem to remember years ago lots more broken bones in feet due to new boots offering no protection to the top of the boot .

Maybe it's because you have to be a bit sneakier to stop players these days. In the seventies and eighties you could hoof someone up in the air and often get away with just a free kick or a booking at worst. Nowadays a high tackle often gets you sent off. So players knee other players in the thigh quite often. It doesn't look so bad as the knee high tackle but it can lead to injuries as we saw with Willock and Dieng last season.

Did I see somewhere that firmer, unyielding pitches are contributing to muscle and joint injuries too comparedtothe old paddy fields? Maybe we should hire out the Ricoh for the season 🤔
