Chair, Willock, Dieng or Dykes? 08:10 - Jan 19 with 2090 views | dmm | Currently, there are rumours of interest in Dieng by Spurs, Brighton and Brentford in a move for him this summer. There have also been rumours this season of interest in Willock, Chair and Dykes. We've been expecting one or two to go for some time. Of course, if we went up this season we'd probably keep hold of these players. But, in the far more likely scenario that we don't gain promotion, who do we think it will be that leaves this summer? At this point in time I could see Chair being taken by a promoted club, eg Sheffield Utd, and Dieng by a smaller club, dare I say Brentford.

Chair, Willock, Dieng or Dykes? on 08:56 - Jan 19 with 1917 views | ozranger | Not one of our players is playing to a potential that would be wanted by a PL or upper Championship team. Possibly Dieng on reputation, but to me at this stage, that is it. However, Dykes is in an interesting situation different to the others, including Chair. He is between being the number one forward and close to that in the Scotland team. It may be best for him, not our or another club, to depart and find a club that plays to the way he and Scotland want and like. A move to Scotland would probably do his chances of improving and being better for Scotland. As to Willock, he is in a bad rut at present and given his injuries, unless he turns a corner, quickly, he will not be on any radar. Chair, I think has the problem of being too selfish with the ball, though i think the problem with him is his inability to look up when with the ball at his feet and running with it. Unlike Eze and a few others in the past, Chair tends to look down than up and thus forces himself into positions that he should not be in. So, clubs may step away from him owing to that.

Pretty much as I see it. | | | |

Yet in spite of those "failings" he is still among the leading players in the championship with assists and has scored 4 goals, same as Dykes in open play. More tellingly, there's another thread where some highly-rated fellow professionals at this level have expressed the high regard in which he is held. I don't think anyone will go in this window. We all know of Willock's current travails, Dykes is approaching a 1 in 5 goals games ratio this season, can't see anybody wanting that and with Stewart fit again, his Scottish spot in the squad will be under threat. Chair and Dieng will be gone in the summer. Perhaps then we'll start to realise how big a void Chair has left..

Chair, Willock, Dieng or Dykes? on 10:41 - Jan 19 with 1438 views | ThGrimRanger | I think Dieng is quality and would be an asset to any premiership team as a no 1 or no 2. young, commanding, confident with the ball at his feet, all round great keeper. he'd be a huge miss for us so we should ignore anything other than a high offer [Post edited 19 Jan 2023 10:42]

I agree. Dieng is outstanding. A lot of big keepers lack the agility to spring into action but in recent games he has pulled off amazing one on one reaction saves as well as plucking really high crosses out of the air. I think his agility sets him apart from many other 1st team keepers and he would hold down a first team spot in several Premiership teams.

Chair, Willock, Dieng or Dykes? on 11:23 - Jan 19 with 1270 views | EastR | Dieng is our most saleable asset currently. Like the man with one hair in the land of the bald, a reasonably competent keeper is king in football at the moment. This time last year everyone would probably have agreed on Willock. But the injury, time out and loss of form demotes him arguably to below Chair at the moment, who’s raised his profile post World Cup.
