Injuries 19:11 - Feb 18 with 499 viewsnumptydumpty

Last two seasons never known so many players injured and so many long term absentees.

It's hardly as if our teams have been putting their bodies on the line in all out assaults !!!

We are measured often by data and stats and key players coming back, can be taken off after 60 minutes because we don't want to aggravate injuries because the stats men tell us it will aid their long term recoveries.

We have more specific training regimes monitored for players coming back or indeed nursing injuries or for prevention.

So why with all these new ways of analysing and protecting players, why in the last season and a half have we had an unprecedented number of players in the physio rooms.

I feel its no coincidence that most of the loan signings and purchases Beale has made are sulking on the sidelines.

And yes it did appear in last home game at Sunderland, couple players were attempting to get sent off. Middlesbrough in February not a big draw on highly paid footballers places to visit in their lifetimes !!!!

But yes pitches are like carpets. Tackles that could almost decapitate players in the 70s 80s and 90s don't happen and also why are so many of our key players getting muscle injuries.

Perhaps even our physio and medical teams are on a par with our coaching staff and board representatives.

Are todays players made of glass or is it the case they simply can't be arsed, to coin a prophetic evaluation of our latest predicaments !!!
