pretty typical act in the sport to save the horse for another race, improve it's handicap or because you're backing something else. Another tactic is to race it over the wrong type of ground or distance knowing it will never win.
feel sorry for the jockey if he's being threatened, although its not anything unusual in this sport to stop a horse; just need to be good at it! |  | | |
