| Our Pitch 20:41 - Dec 20 with 2986 views | QPRsince54 | Does anyone know what's happened to our pitch?? All along the Stan Bowles Stand it looked like it has been under water since the last game. It's in a terrible state. Bit of a worry that we are going into the winter with it like this. | | | | |
| Our Pitch on 20:43 - Dec 20 with 2622 views | Paddyhoops | It’s shocking really. We noticed in loft standing . Not good enough for this level of football. | | | |
| Our Pitch on 20:48 - Dec 20 with 2553 views | bosh67 | Through decades of watching Rangers play that side of the pitch has always been a problem. There must be some kind of subsidence or something going on. I remember Trevor Francis going down that wing and it looked like a ploughed field. There must be some kind of historical drainage issue? | |

| Our Pitch on 20:55 - Dec 20 with 2459 views | colinallcars | There was an area near Ellerslie rd stand between the halfway line and going eastwards to almost the penalty area loft end that we called the slough of despond. Goes back a long time. | | | |
| Our Pitch on 21:17 - Dec 20 with 2316 views | loftboy | Historically that side has always been bad, that was the reason we went plastic, | |

I was thinking the same, that side of the pitch always has issues but never normally this early in the season. That side of the pitch likely has issues because it doesn't get as much sun due to the stand but I thought we normally have lights to help that issue.

This but when it rains - as it has been - the lights are useless.

| Our Pitch on 21:37 - Dec 20 with 2225 views | WokingR | It looked too regular to be caused by rain or drainage It was the exact same width the full length of the pitch. Almost like someone had starting cutting the grass on the wrong setting before being stopped. There was just mud left. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Our Pitch on 21:41 - Dec 20 with 2193 views | dsw2509 | Remember that part of the pitch is in perpetual shade. I sat in row H near the half way line for over 25 years and it was always bad there. I will never forget Dominic Iorfa setting off in a run I. The Slough of Despond and completely crocked himself. I think the pitch could be blamed. | | | |

Does anyone know if we have those grow lights that most modern stadiums have?

They’re stored in the loft entrance area by the turnstiles. Or they were .
| Our Pitch on 23:54 - Dec 20 with 1797 views | baz_qpr | Wondered whether it might have been deliberate, looked like all the local schools had been playing 7 a side rugby down there, certainly made it tricky for their wingers. Expecting a fresh carpet for the next game | | | |

I believe that grow lights are often found in lofts.

There's the main reason, a lack of sun. Stadiums also need to allow air to circulate around and out. If I'm not mistaken, a lack of sun and poor air circulation were why the pitch at the San Siro was poor.

| Our Pitch on 11:02 - Dec 21 with 1210 views | DWQPR | We relaid the pitch in the summer of 24, invested in new drainage system.10% of the grass is artificial so there is only one reason why the pitch is failing to pieces…… a marauding Mbengue after half time! | |

| Our Pitch on 11:26 - Dec 21 with 1154 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | It doesn't get the sun so the grass doesn't grow as well. This means the root system isn't as strong and it cuts up, but doesn't grow back strongly. It's been like it forever. I remember Bardsley used to slip around on that side in the early 90s. | |

Correct, we spent a lot of money doing it, too. That strip doesn’t get sun for365 days of the year I believe

They put them on again at half time when the pitch already looked borderline.
