That defeat is down to the team he put out 90% of the energy and pace was sitting on the bench it's ok to rest players but he needs to consider the opposition first today Wednesday's team would have won today hopefully hKe learns from this defeat also Kone should not even be considered to be on the bench until he gets himself fit at present he is a liability

I disagree. You can’t rest players except when you’re playing a good team. You either have a strategy that protects players or you don’t.

I want to see Lamptey, Kamara and Burrell lasting the season not breaking down halfway through.

Agree about Kone though. He’s obviously struggling with something and looked gutted to go off. I’d like him to get properly fit before playing again.

Thought we played well but we left our three best players from Wednesday on the bench.
Kamara, Lamptey and Burrell on the bench and it showed.
Dunne , Edward’s and Saito all stood out .
Vale and Poku have had better days.
Kone sadly could become our boo boy and nobody wants that .

Have none of you taken any learning from last season? Let me guess, we should be able to complete a season with 12 players.

Uncs.

It’s a long season and all of those players are coming back from injury! We have seen today with Chair and Kone, just how easily players coming back can pick up knocks!
I agree we looked better when they went off but rotation is needed at this stage, particularly with fragile players!
The injury to Kone maybe a blessing in disguise, gives him the opportunity to get fully fit and fresh! We’ll need him and his goals as the season continues!

Time will tell. Beat Charlton and it makes sense. On another day it’s a point but it felt one change too many for sure and then the subs were odd to me. Saito wasn’t the best choice at the time and we didn’t need both Kamara and Madsen on when chasing the game. Could have chucked Lloyd on, could have taken Mbengue off instead.

We would all love to see our best 11 starting every game! But with five games in two weeks and some of our players not having a full pre season that is impossible.

Think about it, we are only five league games and something called a cup tie in to the new season and we have already lost Kemper, Chair and Kone and that is WITH player rotation.

I think some fans have a short memory, how if felt not having Burrell for months.

It is a mistake to change a winning team line-up when there is no need, It's Warnock 101 rules. You start that same side if all fit, try to exert dominance - get a goal in front, un-nerve the oppo, then rest the players that need it.

Not hand them a win on a f**king plate... Piss poor selection today, for me.

I left the ground absolutely raging.

But Neil isn't Pepe so he is of no significance. It's the modern way!

I think Kone's knee is f*cked and they need to get it sorted. He carried it half of last season and I don't think he can go on at the moment and they need to help him sort it out because it's not a lack of effort, it's a lack of having two legs to stand up on. They really need to help him get it sorted because we know what he can do when fit and with two knees. Last season's injury has finally caught up with him. Wishing him better.

Never knowingly right.

though the game was lost because of a single Paul Smyth lost duel on the edge of the box.

We have a a lot of players who are coming back from long term injury, in my view better to bank the 3 points against Cardiff than blow out those may become key players against one of the best teams in the league at this stage.

Except that tactic didn’t work because both Kone and Chair went off injured in the first half.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Yes 3 of our most effective players were on the bench.

Do you really think Stephan was not aware of that?

He benched them because he needs to get 35 odd games out of them this season.

As it is we lost Chair and Kone through injury.

Find it really baffling that after the last two years so many fans seem to want to run our best players into the ground.

Behave. It’s a three-game week, we’ve got a lot of players nursing knocks or needing to manage their minutes, of course we’re going to have to rotate them. Aside from maybe one of Kamara or Madsen in central midfield this was the strongest team available to us. I know it’s frustrating to lose a tight game at home, but come on.

It’s particularly mad to cite Warnock as the solution here, as if the Championship wasn’t a completely different place 16 years ago, we didn’t have the best player in the league by miles, and weren’t able to go out and sign Kyle bloody Walker when our right-back got injured. All well and good saying “play your strongest 11 every week” in those circumstances, but decidedly less relevant to our current situation.

Quite. Apparently they sprint double the number of times now more than twenty years ago and the press is much more demanding involving all of the team not just a few players. It’s a different sport and there are definitely more muscle injuries than twenty years ago, particularly hamstrings. So you can’t say today’s players should play as many minutes as those 15-20 years ago.

We knew when we signed Lamptey, Cirkin and to an extent Kamara that it would take time for them to get up to full fitness due to no pre season, no football and injuries. And now we’re moaning they can’t yet do a full 90 minutes? Ridiculous.

I do agree that Kone needs to get back to fitness but he also needs games to do that.

It wasn’t a criticism of Stephane . I fully understand he has to make changes and rotate .
My point was we were a weaker team as a result of those three players being missing from the starting line up . Any side would be .
We very nearly pulled off a result against a very good side with the players we did start.
It looks like we finally have a very decent squad and it will stand us in good stead.
I’ve seen McLaren flogging players to death and we nearly paid the price for it.

No doubt in my mind that our best QPR team would have beaten Middlesborough.
They are good but not too far away from us.

My only gripe was if a striker scores twice midweek then he starts the next game, they’re confidence players and he must have been chomping at the bit to have started.

It does beg the question then, if Kone is still not ready to play, why was he picked to start? Surely they could see this in training. And if so, why are we not including Kolli more, or even got in another striker during the window? We currently have Burrell, lloyd who can't finish and some guy who has never been seen since he arrived.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

I was definitely slightly bemused by his team selection. It’s strange how certain players get rotated, but then others like Dunne and Edwards never do. It’s like they’re treated differently. Kone hasn’t looked fit all season. He has this slightly strange running style so something must be up. How is Kolli going to get match fit if he’s not being given a chance? Obikwu was on the bench in the week and then disappears for yesterday’s game? I thought Boro were ok, but nothing special. They were there for the taking had we played a stronger side. Smyth seems for example to be more effective away from home so maybe he should have started at Charlton? Poku is becoming a concern. Seems to do what Madueke at Arsenal does. He gets to in line with the 18 yard box and cuts back for a safe pass or puts a rather weak cross in. He needs to do what Saka does and get behind the left full back and get to the byline. His assist numbers are poor. He needs to be braver on the ball. Losing yesterday puts big pressure now on Charlton where our record in recent times is not great. Another big following as well!

Listening to the JS post-match interview suggested that he picks the team and formation , but must follow the fitness team on how long he is allowed to play any individual player or if someone has to be rested.

Think during the week someone put forward the team likely to play, of which most of us agreed and it was pretty much the team we saw yesterday.

JS did the best he could given our record with getting the squad through 46 games.

In games like this we’re still a little bit short, literally. They’ve steamrollered us on a regular basis, not so much yesterday as we are building a bigger stronger team, that said, when you are having to go out there with Smyth, Saito/Chair, Poku you’re still a little light shall we say.

Smyth was unlucky with his tackle, but while his foot was trying to do a job, his upper body wasn’t, hence the fella kept the ball (fortunately) but was still standing upright and balanced (not so fortunately). The game turns on that.

With Poku and Saito, still feel, even with the ball at their feet, the defender is calling the shots. They both need to weigh in with more assists.

And going back to the dark arts, Jimmy the only one really carrying that out, knocking the wind out of their scorer did change the dynamics. We need more of that.

I am astonished that the management of playing time for some is either not understood or just disregarded. It's not as if it's hard to grasp why this needs to be done.

Awful team selection on 08:29 - Sep 6 with 6102 viewsHAYESBOY

To be fair to JS, he has stated he doesnt like doing the changes but I am guessing he is guided by medical staff input. On another thread I stated that this rotation due to protecting players was wearing a bit thin. I think I was harsh in that assessment.
I think JS wants to get through the Preston game and then have a fully fit Kamara, Madsen, Cirkin, Lamptey after the break.
Hope Chair and Kone wont be out for long.

Smells like a trout farm in here
