Should explain why we're doing well on shots and XGs conceded. With middling other stats, nothing from these numbers to suggest why we're top of the league for shots - we're not overly vertical, or high possession. So there's some secret source to our attack these numbers aren't catching, or...maybe our shots and XG will revert to the mean of our other mid-table stats?

That was my initial reading.
To be honest I had never heard of some of these metrics before and I have no idea how useful they are.
The 'vertical intent' thing seems to be two consecutive forward passes. But we're playing a lot of long balls for our runners to chase down, so maybe that particular metric simply isn't a good way of representing how we are playing. Teams that 'play through the thirds' probably score higher on that metric. | | | |

PPDA confirms that - we allow more possession in the defensive 60% more than any other team without pressing for the ball. |  |
