| Kone 00:15 - Oct 16 with 2756 views | LazyFan | I watched him close last night. He was slow, but not as slow as the Wet Spam game. So, that was a good sign of progress. He held the ball up better, but his lay-offs need more work, or his teammates are not on the same wavelength. In any rate he was giving Derby some grief, but Derby is not exactly a reference these days. I think he's coming back, but really slowly. I expect Kohli to start with Smyth and Poku up front. With Kone coming on at the 60-minute mark, as he did against Derby. Edwards will be in the middle, with JCS back. This will allow Madsen and Kamara to hopefully control the middle. Later on in the game, Edwards can move to RB and Adamson to LB when Kemper gets tired. This would allow Vale or Varane to come on for Kemper, depending on how the game is going. Having the Vale of Arryn, Old King Kone, and our favourite Chair to sub on would be an awesome set of subs. | |

I spell Kolli's name correctly, but pronounce it often, as if he is the mighty Virat !!

| Kone on 08:07 - Oct 17 with 1861 views | numptydumpty | Re Kone, i hope he can regain his form, and from what I saw last season, Kone, Varane and Mbengue seemed to be great mates. If the unfortunate Amadou's pretty awful injury can do anything, its for his two best mates to up their game and play for their great friend. If Kone came on today and scored, I think it could do wonders for his confidence, but do severely hope fans don't get on his back, as think that may not help. He was decent for us all last season, he deserves our support and hopes that he can be effective, once more. [Post edited 17 Oct 8:08]

No doubt a great lad and popular in the camp. Worked his socks off for us last season under difficult circumstances. Our defence and midfield is now sorted, but if we fail to reach the play offs this season, it will be down to our forward line. Kone’s lack of speed and technical ability will never reach the level required for success in this league and Obikwu is just an enigma. We are now effectively reliant on a fragile Burrell, unproven Kolli and a very raw but lively Lloyd. I have no doubt JS will give Kone every opportunity to prove himself, but if he fails to do so, JS will be looking to find the missing piece of the jigsaw in this team. I do hope Kone comes good, but I haven’t seen anywhere near enough to think he will.

Thought early on he didn't look a good footballer. However, I remain of the view that asking him to 'play football' is not the answer. He literally needs to focus on two things: giving the oppo CHs a good bashing and ensuring he's in goalscoring positions. To achieve the latter, he needs to improve on two things. He looks a thick set gentleman shall we say, so keeping leaner and fitter would help. Secondly, reducing his running to a confined area to preserve energy. No point charging down the oppo's FBs all the time if it knackers him out and stops him getting in where he needs to be and what I think he's still good at: finishing!

| Kone on 11:47 - Oct 17 with 1279 views | QPRJill | He is a fox in the box player imo, but when our midfielders and wingers now often cut inside, chances seem harder for him to get by. Hence, I`m not sure how he or the management team will make the most out of him. Assuming he now is injury free; getting fitter is his own responsibilty. [Post edited 17 Oct 12:00]

| Kone on 12:08 - Oct 17 with 1191 views | Lblock | Sure I saw Kone pulling a load of coal down the Grand Union Canal the other day I’ve been a critic since day one That aside I hope he comes good but I’m not sure he fits the model now See above people saying we shouldn’t “expect him to be chasing down full backs”; that IS the expectation now isn’t it?? Sure that work rate is what Kolli gets heaps for. We’ll see | |

| Kone on 13:54 - Oct 17 with 941 views | GaxZE | Feel like Kone who we had for large parts of last season is an asset. The debut for example vs Charlton was exactly what we miss. Burrell offers raw pace and finishing quality. Kolli adds good quality and Lloyd just offers us an incredible work rate. Kone is different in many ways to the others and we'll need that. If we can keep pace in our side, Kone will shine - if he is fit. He needs to be more mobile for the team and it'll come good. | | | |
| Kone on 14:00 - Oct 17 with 909 views | FDC | He's still only 23, and obviously struggling with something. The limited parts of his game is stuff that JS can work on i think. I'm keeping the faith for now. | | | |
| Kone on 14:10 - Oct 17 with 846 views | derbyhoop | He has to play too his strengths and that is a) using his physique to ensure their CBs can never be comfortable b) finishing. IMO, he doesn't have the pace or the control to get to a higher level but he can be very effective as a Championship striker. | |

So, he did have a shot when he came on and then slipped before hobbling off never to be seen again for another two months. He..is…not…the answer. Smyth, Vale and Kolli were poor. Birminghams front line were infinitely better than ours and that will be the difference this season. We desperately need Madsen, Burrell and Chair back in the side. Until we do, we will continue to slip further down the league. Felt for Ronnie, he was single handedly trying to get us back in the game.
| Kone on 17:49 - Oct 17 with 495 views | aston_hoop | Kone needs taking out and getting fit. I get it, we are badly short. But at this point, making a clearly injured Kone come on and play minutes is helping nobody. Lloyd has injury issues, Burrell is out for *redacted* weeks, Obikwu doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean we should force it. Would rather use Ridwan Hassan or Josh Wright from the Devs, neither are ready and may never be, but they exist for this reason when we have injuries. I don't think flogging Kone when he is injured is of any help to us at all and certainly not for the long term. Have him fit by Christmas would be fine. | |

I wasn’t totally convinced last season but am shocked as to how far he is fallen, doesn’t look fit and bereft of any confidence, now injured again.

What is this imaginary injury you speak of? He came on and was running around and as usual, the ball was bouncing off him, thanks to a poor touch and hold up game. He then slipped in the turf, looked like a bad injury, but wasnt. And then walked off and wasn’t risked coming back on, because it was like 2 mins to go.

His knee was strapped up when he came on as it has been for a while, I can't believe it is for decoration. He looks sluggish and unsure to me

He has been sluggish since he walked through the door at the start of last season. That’s just his natural build, and he’s only going to get heavier as he gets older, as is being demonstrated. He’s thick boned, big arsed and thick legged. Many players wear strappings. He’s worn that for like 9 months. If he was injured, the club would know that and would have been uber protective of him, like they do with every player, sometimes to the extreme. Julian is on record as saying he was pulled out of the firing line because he was not fit enough. Now he’s back in the fold.

Kone looks so unfit. Been carrying so much timber since the summer. Touch is poor and unable to hold the ball up. Looks like a pub player at the moment.
