Good result; should've been at least 3-0 though. Wilder's strategy (such as it was) suggests he's not seen tapes of our matches since November … .

We looked stronger as a unit with the back four, who all played well. Downes looks a far better player when he can concentrate on his own game and not worry about covering a cumbersome back three.
Having a target man who can win & hold the ball opens more options and allows us to move the ball forward more quickly. Good all-round performance although we definitely need to be more clinical in front of goal, should have been at least three goals for us!

I don't feel that we won this game but more like we survived it
We got a win
We got 3 points
We kept a clean sheet
I still don't think we looked confident

Agree with the comments so far. We do have some quality within the team and going forward/creating chances it looked decent again, similar to the Hull game, and among others. The lack of confidence in front of goal and the lack of quality at the back are the big issues which means we only have 36 pts at the end of January in a league which has a general lack of quality but which most teams make up for in organisation, grit, simplicity and square pegs in square holes.

The good news is these issues are pretty easy to fix. SR won't buy a decent CB or two or fit striker. However the other deficiencies re organisation, simplicity and grit can be fixed with effective management. Whether Eckert can do this is the difference between relegation and staying in the championship which is the most important thing now as under SR we are not a top flight club.

Finally a win, but with more composure this could have been so much better.
Could easily have been 3 up at HT and added a couple more in the 2nd half.
Shooting practice definitely required for Sunday.

Good to see a back 4, but our 2 CBs still managed to get in each others way and Sheff U nearly scored from it FFS !! Both full backs were much better than the CBs on the night.

Once again though, we struggled to see the game out and we helped create chances for the opposition in the last 15 mins with silly misplaced passes, getting caught in possession and an inability to keep the ball. Some panic and desperate defending helped us see it out in the end.

An at times ugly win, but much needed and we would all be happy with a similar win on Sunday !!
