As along time fan I think a couple of things irk me the most in this saga. Before I make the points after reading many comments it's easy to see both sides of the argument summed as 1) We got what we deserved 2) We were poorly treated. I've even seen the comment the statement the penalty was disproportionate but what we deserved!! That's like giving a murderer a 25 year sentence and then hanging him and announcing they deserved it.
The majority of people saying including current players and managers the decision was very harsh , following this fans of basically every other clubs moralizing about our behaviour and then without doubt voicing all the points made by our fans had they ended up in our position.
The penalty is so severe it could bankrupt the club and with the best will in the world I feel it may take 5-7 years to stabilize the club at best. Not much proportion in the penalty in my view let alone not much justice. |

A long time supporter first game April 1960. Saints became my team then and always will be notwithstanding the current shambles. I feel the current situation needs a little perspective. Firstly the club hasn't lost £200 miilion only at the moment the opportunity to play for that sum and the prestige of playing in the PL ( I accept the prestige comment maybe a joke, think City and Chelsea ). Not forgetting Leicester City and their three year industrial scale financial cheating for a measly six point penalty
Clearly the way the spying took place lead me to believe whoever sanctioned it and my guess is Tonda they obviously felt no need to even attempt to cover their tracks. Whilst ignorance of the law/rules is no defence it defies belief no one above Tonda didn't tell him the rules.
I only hope the appeal lawyer points this out today and manages to get a penalty which fits the "crime" we committed.
The real issues we face are in my opinion are the first team being ripped apart four or five players with PL ability being "taken" by PL clubs, would be utterly ironic if one or two went to City/Chelsea. Loss of sponsorship etc. and numerous other small benefits which probably exist but of which I am not aware. |

Obviously a great match last probably had every possible Incident within it that could happen in a match. No question in my mind Casper was MOTM by a country mile.Even if we go up I can see him being enticed away by a top six club.
I can't not make a comment about "spygate". Lets have a bit of perspective the club is facing a potential £200mm loss if we are thrown out of the play offs. Now think about Chelsea make millions of pounds of illegal payments to players/agents. Effectively steal 3 Premier league titles and get a £10 million fine years later.
Not much more to be said really haven't even bought Man City into the discussion. |

Enjoyed the day and suspect the vast majority of our fans did likewise. felt we deserved a bit more luck especially with the equalizer but that's football. Hope all goes well tomorrow feel we need to make third or fourth at a minimum but if we don't still pretty confident of our ability to get promoted. |

I thought this was our best performance of the season. No doubt in my mind Azaz was man of the match. I have to say Tonda appears to have a very quiet and thoughtful approach to every game. Also feel his interviews exude a confidence which clearly is passed onto the team. Six points in the next two games will ratchet up the pressure. |

There is little doubt there is not great deal between virtually all the teams in this division. I don’t think we would have got the two points we did against Birmingham and Millwall without the two saves by GB. Equally the Norwich game we should have had two pens and not missed the one we did get get. I believe we would have gone on a won the game. The same at Oxford should have had a pen and if scored I feel we would have gone on a won the game. I just feel there is still plenty of opportunities between now and the end of the season. |

In all fairness Nick’s report sums up last nights game. The biggest disappointment of the three games so far over Christmas was undoubtedly the Oxford game, a team who managed to lose last night to the worst team we have faced so far this season Swansea.
I still can’t get over how many of the forum posts this morning are written by fans who clearly feel they would be better managers than of our last half dozen managers. Many also appear to be goalkeeping coaches for good measure as well.
Currently we are just six points from a play off, another good run of 4/5 wins out of 6 games will almost certainly see us in a play off place. That’s the nature of the Championship. I do feel it’s vitally important we make promotion this year it will only become harder next season with reduced payments from the Premier Leagu. |

A good win but strange also, it could have 4-0 or 3-3 at half time. The early goal in the 2nd half effectively killed the game. As many have said a poorish SW side but to use a cliche you can only beat what is in front of you. I thought Barry Bannon was excellent for them and probably had 80-100 touches more than anyone else.
I don’t really want O’Neill as manager but would have him in front of Brendan Rogers any day, can’t stand the man. |

After a couple of days reflection I thought on balance we were the better of two mediocre teams. Our. Overall performances this season I feel reflect the shocking season last year. Constantly changing managers is just plain stupidity. Accepting Arsenal are a much bigger club in every respect they had the balls to keep Arteta and pretty sure it’s going to pay off this season.
With regard to the goalkeeping debate may well be possible we need to upgrade but this is not a priority in January just get a CF in the next window. The debate over the current two we have in opinion is daft as I believe Bazunu is the better option. Never forgotten how McCarthy stood and watched Bamford roll the ball in during the last home match of the Covid season. He only had to pick it up! Hoping for a result tomorrow taking my grandson for the first time something I have looking forward to for a long time. Never forgotten my first match in April 1960 last game of the season with my grandad. If we won went up as Division 3 if not would go up as second. Happily we won 2-0. |

Sorry Nick can’t agree with your verdict at all. This was the best performance so far this season. Just watched the 15 minutes highlights on Sky the editors didn’t manage to find any Swansea highlights until the header at the end of the game. I thought at the time the Archer missed chance was very difficult to score from more than 1 or 2 times out of 10. Thought at the time the Armstrong missed chance was terrible but when shown by the camera at the side it came quickly from behind a player and at thigh height. So not easy. The chance near the end of the game after cleverly getting a touch past the keeper to see it run across the goal line and then bobble over his desperate dive was just pure bad luck.
All in all it gave me hope we can put a decent run together and challenge to get promoted. Can’t get my head round you changing over the International break from giving our manager fair chance to him being a complete inexperienced novice. |

It’s difficult to put into words how I feel after the home games so far this season. After a good deal of thought my main conclusion is the team is basically unfit, the only person to blame is RM. Just a general point the three teams who were promoted a almost certainly will be relegated together, all easily beat Championship/League 1 opposition easily. So it appears the gap between the promoted teams and the remaining PL teams is widening with even the gap between the bottom three and Championship widening as well. |

I attended on Saturday, the game confirmed my thoughts the squad is basically not fit enough. Almost certainly down to the RM passing game. Tired players with tired minds make the mistakes which cost points, particularly Leicester and Ipswich come to mind.

Reasonable to say an entertaining Match. Clearly mistakes cost us, Can't really understand the pas from AM to Fernandez his pass to FD was poorly executed under pressure and therefore became more difficult the rest we know. There is no doubt the big teams get the benefit of doubt, no question the Suguwara handball was a pen. The same as the ball bouncing 3 times on Mctominays outstretched arm the season before last, surprise surprise no penalty for us.
The only words regarding the the no penalty for the foul on AA by their keeper are quite staggering what game were the VAR team watching. Their keeper missed the ball he went for took our player down under the rules that is a foul, in the box is a penalty. Over to MOTD 2 for expert opinion who pops up scouser and ex Liverpool player to say not an outrageous mistake. Had he been fouled like that when playing he would have been screaming for a penalty. Expect another PGMOL apology after the 4-5 second tug on the shirt of PO by the Leicester defender. Maybe.
Difficult to see anything other than relegation, but maybe I am wrong this feels different from two seasons ago when we seemed to be just headless chickens. The resulting relegation will be the same but we might possibly be in a slightly better position at the start of next season than at the start of last season. Suppose I'd better take off the rose tinted specs.

As a fan first game April 1960 I've seen many ups and downs over the years, and I guess from an age point of view only post 3-4 times a year (social media not a great interest). After watching the refs last year in the Championship, many I felt were poor but reffed in such a way made little or no difference to the result. I have watched for the last two seasons and so far this season in my seat and only standing when we scored. However on Saturday I was up from my seat screaming at Taylor half a dozen times for poor decisions I felt bordered on bias. I didn't even see at the time the five second tug in the box until I got home. When I subsequently found out he said afterwards he had seen it all and felt it didn't affect the play. Jeff Stelling called it a shameful decision this morning.
Having said my piece where do we go from here, I haven't heard comment from anywhere on the fact RM did alter our game plan and we played much more directly even prior to Tall Paul arriving. Most TV and radio "pundits" claimed we played the same way as the earlier games this season, you do wonder how many watched the game. The substitution mistakes were our downfall together with the repeat of the Ipswich cock up with the corner. I really don't know where we go from here, I even feel the Championship is where we need to be let'the top 6 sod off to Europe and play themselves continually. Leaving the remaining 14 and top 6 or 8 from the Championship create and compete in a wonderful league with promotion and relegation intact with the league below. |

Good game to watch and feel of the 8 goals only the OG could have easily been avoided. All in all feel the game proved the depth of the squad, not all would step in and do a great job, but none would be a big liability. |
