More to life
at 15:27 26 Aug 2026

Mart

So sorry to hear this.

You asked for personal experiences and advice, so two small things from me.

First, my father had a stroke and went from being incoherent and unable to move to a full recovery, so there are many stories of progress out there.

Second, do not forget yourself. As someone who has dealt with my own mental health issues, I realise now (thanks to good therapy) that ignoring my emotions and how I felt to be everyone else first (in my head at least) was a significant contributing factor to where I ended up.

In the midst of all you are going through that will be very far from your mind, but please, as time goes by, be kind to yourself- it’s best for everyone.

This is how we SHOULD be critical in a positive way.

It’s 100% fine to say a player is struggling with form, without calling them lazy or crap or L1.

And in Saito’s case, we all know he’s seemingly a great guy, always tries and gives everything. The fact his form is not where he or we would want it is a fair comment, and when it comes back we should celebrate that.

Our Players Are A Credit
at 15:23 28 Mar 2026

This is by far the best thing I’ve read in a LONG time!!!

Taking the time to post this, reminds us all that we are just people, trying our best.

I’ve had a feeling for a long time that this group are the right sort, doesn’t make them the best players, doesn’t mean they play well all the time, but we should be supporting them for both what they do and who they are

Couldn’t agree more.

I have no doubt that the vast majority of this team is doing their very best, sometimes that’s good, sometimes average and sometimes rubbish. You should see me at work!!

To criticise the performance is absolutely fair, but I do not subscribe to personal abuse of human beings just trying to do their best under tough circumstances.

I was at the game.

I’m pretty pragmatic about our results normally, but today made me very angry with the performance.

Unlike some, I don’t believe that this team doesn’t try or phones it in, in fact sitting in row 2 of the Stan Bowles you get a very close up look at who’s putting their bodies on the line. Mad Ben was into every tackle with usual disregard for anyone’s safety, Madsen sticking his head onto a Norwich defenders boot to win the ball, Jimmy going after every header..

BUT this was so far off against a very gettable Norwich side, who looked like they would just roll over in the first half if we stuck the ball in the net. In the second we made them look like Coventry.

We all know that if you are at QPR, there’s a reason - not quite good enough, not quite fit enough, not quite ready for this league BUT we have too many players losing form at a critical time - Saito, Burrel, Kone, Smyth, Varane not to mention Vale…

I don’t want to slate individuals, because, as I said, I see them giving everything, but right now, today was a massive miss and a real demonstration of the lack of depth we have to get through these mental schedules.

Sheffield Wednesday needs a BIG reaction…

A Morgasm – Report
at 14:33 11 Dec 2025

Every match report from you, Clive, is a winner but this a thing of true beauty, touching all levels of emotion and hilarity.

Like many, the reason I go isn’t the sh!t football, it’s because my dad took me, I took my daughter and now I take my wife and two new sons. It’s an enduring connection to those who have passed - my dad - and those I love most. It’s the one constant in my life and being there brings all these things back to life for me.

BUT, on nights like Tuesday when we can hug strangers and shout at the top of our lungs, football becomes the “most important of the least important things”

Thank you

Well that feels like a bloody good idea.

I’ve no affinity to Everton, but Goodison is an iconic ground and what better use than to promote the women’s game.

Made my feel happier about the World anyway 🤗

Thanks for stepping in and a great read.

Good to relive what I thought was one of our best performances of the season, especially given a very decent opposition

saito challenge on travis first half....

Have to say thought Linnington was almost as classy as Edwards.

Got pretty much everything right, didn’t take any crap, let the game flow and was very clear about throws and free-kicks being in the right place.

Above all he was consistent with both teams and, I think, only one yellow, which showed he was totally in control from the beginning of the game.

How refreshing!!!

Oh well.

For me, the highlight of the day was the two half time penalties.

Beautifully finished by young Albie, with all the energy you could ask for.

A truly lovely moment and great respect to the Wednesday fans cheering him on as much as when they scored.

Some things in life are just a little more important than the result.

Three and easy night – Report

Re the substitutions, I know there has been a lot of question marks over some of Marti’s previous decisions, but against Luton every sub made a substantial difference.

Lloyd’s cameo was great and a good injection of energy, pace and physicality after an excellent performance from Frey. The number of headers he won against their big CB’s took a load of pressure off.

Colback and Edwards bought new energy into a defensive midfields and I thought Edwards did a very decent job between midfield and the dropping into a back 4.

Saito’s energy was again great and as well as giving them something else to worry about going forward, he takes on his defensive duties well too.

All this is super encouraging. Oddly enough I was less worried the last 15 mins after the subs than I was the 20 before. Luton seemed to run out of belief and the subs helped that.

And if only one of Lloyd’s efforts had snuck in!!!!

Let's put this to bed...

Agree with that.

Thought he was unlucky with the give away that led to the goal, if that turn had come off he’d have been away.

We sit front row on Ellerslie and he was livid with himself when that goal went in. 2 minutes later he’s settled Sam up.

Speaks volumes to his character and attitude. He took full responsibility AND went about putting in right.

Fair play

Injuries
at 19:36 30 Dec 2024

I take your point on this, but the one thing for me that is missing in the discussion is intensity.

You can train, per Mr Izzard, to run those marathons and succeed, but you are doing it in a controlled way and not racing/ competing.

The minute you start to operate at the intensity required by competitive sport the injury risks magnifies massively.

The reason hamstrings are torn (aside from the lack of proper training and recovery) are because the body is at its absolute physical limit, and then you push it further.

Put it to its limits repeatedly and injuries happen.

This isn’t just true in our club, all clubs suffer with this - just look at Saka, De Bruyne - and they are getting the very best treatment.

Plus, as Clive has said many times, we will have players more prone to physical breakdown than clubs with money - there’s a reason JCS is with us and not Leeds.

It also doesn’t mean the players (and staff) aren’t doing everything they can to be fit. It’s just they can’t for repeated periods of such intensity - especially 3 game weeks where we have little option for squad rotation….

Light at the end of the tunnel, or a train coming towards us? – Analysis

Fascinating insight and does help explain what a lot of us are seeing.

The change under Marti is obvious to the naked eye, and it feels to me like we are “close” to the mid table obscurity type of team we aspire to be.

Close, but no cigar - yet
