Completely different line of argument. Since you bring it up though, capital flight, and the risk thereof, is exaggerated frequently for the sake of political point-scoring (particularly in the "respected broadsheet" [*cough*] The Telegraph). There are always going to be venal self-centred a-wipes like Dyson and Ratcliffe who will f off - fine, don't let the door hit you on the aris on your way out. I don't recall referring to Mel Stride as a rightwing hard nut and I don't actually believe that he is - but he certainly ain't a Tory "wet" by any reasonable yardstick of measurement.
As for the UK problems being the fault of Liberals/Socialists ? Come on - Blair's Labour -socialists ? Please..
The UK's current problems can be mostly traced back to the 2008 financial crisis, which itself came about because of feverish deregulation in financial services, the fallout deficit of which "Dave" Cameron decided could be rectified with his austerity programme => cuts to public services, the armed forces, community projects etc. Yes it was Blair's "Socialists" (  ) who had brought about the deregulation because that's what socialists do right ? Had it been the Conservatives they definitely wouldn't have done that would they ? Pull the other one old boy....
I suppose it was also the fault of the "Socialists" that Thatcher decided to sell of the family silver in the 80s as well was it ? Foolish Norway and their healthy sovereign wealth fund eh - look at what they could have won like us.. [Post edited 22 Jul 12:14]

Firstly, just in case you weren't aware, "Rachel from Accounts" is generally considered to be a very misogynistic (very much in Farage and co's wheelhouse granted, but still...) comment.
As for confidence in her, can't say I was much of a fan but bond prices kept relatively steady under her watch - in fact, they were only spooked when there were rumours about her sacking being likely under Starmer IIRC.. Hardly another Kwasi Karteng was she ?
And China are leading the world on environmental tech partic solar panels and batteries. Plus BYD global sales continue to increase and their CO2 emissions has plateaued. China are fronting up and taking a lead on the issue of climate change.. I'm sure they'll be very keen to be supportive of Milliband's stance. |

I've lived in London since the late 90s and the idea that it's some lawless hole is absolute guff that Farage and his ilk want you to believe. A stab vest is definitely not required in the East End - I don't don one when I have to go the supermarket..
While we're at it, you think Khan is doing a crp job ? I see otherwise (and to reiterate, I live here !) - his blustering bulb of a predecessor (remember him ?) was the one that really took the cake....
Keep on believing all the absolute toss there is to read on Fb and X though. Cos that's where the real truth lies right ? |

If the aides are primarily engaged to support the MEP's business in Brussels then it is appropriate to apportion the funds received from the EU accordingly. If it is blatantly used for specific party political work (promotion, publicity etc.) then that is against the rules. Le Pen pushed her luck and, as is typical for many of her ilk, thought that no consequences would arise from her actions. Well she was wrong...

Evidence of these assertions ? If other MEPs have been embezzling funds for specific party political purposes then they are also subject to the law.
