Slightly concerning that the 2 attacking players saints bought for several million over the summer aren't at least showing some some kind of football intuition yet. Early days etc but saints cannot afford to waste money on below average signings.
In terms of being bullied on the pitch this is part of football at every level (think Argentina and Paraguay in the world cup). There will be plenty of Lincoln's this season who don't have the players to play football so will play to whatever strengths they have - saints just need to be niggly and clever about it too. The bread and butter of getting promoted is beating the bottom half and less well resourced clubs with ability and skill which better resourced clubs can afford to buy

Incredible, Shea Charles is a lucky charm. Deserved victory against an odd backdrop.
Jander has been incredible including his energy and breaking up play. In terms of creativity manning was probably my motm, he's been superb since he's let of the leash.
Let's hope the most saints get is a fine as a result of the spying stuff but if the club gave the go ahead for this nonsense to happen as ever it'll be the fans who suffer most

As a big club we can claim there are too many games 😄. The lads have done brilliantly and are not surprisingly feeling the pinch. Tired legs = tired brains and that showed on Tuesday. At least they have a small break before the weekend. What a brilliant 3 or 4 months.
On a separate note Manning has been a transformed player since Martin left and plays with freedom which has made him such an effective player.

Getting rid of the rumoured trouble makers and bringing in Perez, Larin and bringing back Bree have been instrumental in the turnaround of performances. This is a classic saints squad, a TEAM of unspectacular Mon champagne Charlies playing in their most affective positions and fighting for each other.
Not interested in going up particularly for a number of reasons here but proud of the way the team are playing and getting results and enjoying the rub of the green to some extent with the bounce of the ball if not referee decisions.....how was the blatant pull back in front of goal not a penalty and red card ?

No point getting in a keeper if the club don't address the lack of average cbs who can't win headers in the 6 yard box. Even with Ramsdale in goal we shipped goals because of the inadequate defenders on front of him. Ramsdale's main job was to keep the score down rather than win games. Getting in another average keeper rather than a decent CB is like buying a big box of Viagra for someone with a low sperm count rather than paying for a sperm donor.

Bazuna earned us that point last night with the save onto his right post. Really hope his issues are genuinely down to being a young keeper who has constantly played behind an average defensive that exposes him to so many shots.
Can't see sports rep buying a CB or striker in January so being realistic the only way of going up this season is a reliance on bad finishing by opponents and a large slice of luck on our part. Pretty much how RM got us promoted. However none of the teams in this league will stand a chance of staying up such is the gulf between divisions now.
Still love saints but not bothered by the wider world of football nowadays.

It's worrying that over the last few games have followed a similar pattern. From what I've seen of goals conceded we don't have any CBs who are reliable, can mark or win headers in the 6 yard box. As mentioned above our 2 keepers faults complement one another.
At the moment we're a mid table club owned by lower European club owners with little serious ambition to do little else than make money for their shareholders. No matter where we finish this season expect our best player to leave in the summer. Followed by another half hearted rebuild (i.e. a few potential youngsters seemingly bought at random not for the benefit of the club but profit for the board).
The only way a can compete in the top flight is by spending tens of millions every season AND buying strategically based on what is needed for the squad. SRs will not do this.

It's hard to say for certain if the manager or players were complacent but our second half performances are baffling. However sports Republic and spors could be charged with complacency if they genuinely believe that we have the players at the back to sustain a challenge in the top half of the table. For too long now we've had a defence and goalkeepers who in a successful team would be reserves/backup rather than regular starters.
Eckert has worked wonders with the squad but now he's got to rebuild confidence or protect against complacency (if that is an issue). Norwich did us a favour in many ways by pointing out to the board that despite the improvement in results the squad is flawed but this flaw is fixable if the board are serious about being competitive.

We've had a dodgy back 5 for 4 seasons or so now. When we went up we conceded loads of goals but generally managed to score more, and often had to come back from behind in plenty of games. In the prem we seemed to concede 3 per game. Why do we struggle to find decent CBS? Bloody odd. If the club are serious about either going up or going up and staying there they need to pay the going rate for 2 decent CBS and maintain 2 of the current crop as back up.
Watching the highlights just now I'd forgotten how incompetent our defenders are in the air. In this league goals often come from crosses but if we can't win even half of these bread and butter duels we're going to make life hard for ourselves. |

Seems churlish to focus on the negative after the last few weeks and the return turnaround. However at half time I had a feeling that WBA would come at us, maybe their manager showed them the highlights of the Millwall game, and that we'd likely concede and not score again. Turned out fine but this 45 was similar, if not worse, than the Brum second 35.
I'm a glass half full football fan so while I don't think the fans were complacent I think the players maybe were. Eckert was too formalaic with the subs but I'm sure he'll learn from tonight and will drill the message against complacency into the players.
This is still a league where anyone can beat anyone if you switch off and unless saints bring their A game Norwich will be tough and they'll make it hard for us to break them down.
As for the January window it would be good to get the yank and some of the under used squad out on loan and put the money on saved wages on a reliable CB to reduce the exposure of our average GKs.
Leaving the match early on a night like this evening is odd but you pays your money etc

Is anyone confident that sports rep are going to get this call; right? Based on their track record I'm a little worried. Write a list of managers that you really do not fancy to the the job in order of least favourite and that will probably be similar to their short list.
6 PTS against average teams is fine but the squad is short of quality in vitally crucial positions. If I could sign one position in January it would be A GK, Rambo on loan maybe.

The possibly bigger issue than a manager is lack of striker, solid GK and average CBS. Any manager would struggle with these baked in weaknesses. There are a handful of decent players in the squad but far too many mediocre ones which can't be sold because nobody wants them.
Sports Republic please sell up.
