It will be interesting to see what happens if Peretz gets injured ( short or long term ). Does Tonda stick to his GK principles and promote Long. Or does he go for Ramsdale or even Jones.
As for Fellows, well it seems his internal GPS has got better in that the runs across the pitch rather than towards the goal are fewer but he still isn't as direct as Edozie is. Which is probably why Tonda played him. |

The precious gift of "20/20" hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Whilst I understand that people want and perhaps need to dissect the punishment and come up with ' we were wronged' there is little we - as fans - can do about it. I'm not a law expert but it seems there is little or nothing the Club can do either.
The point being ' dont cry over spilt milk ' its in the past and it seems nothing can be done about it. Only the future can be changed so lets move onwards and upwards and show what Southampton FC is really about. |

I don't see the point of crying over spilt milk or in this case doing an indepth discussion of the kangaroo court set up by the EFL. It can't be changed. We did wrong and we were punished - fairly or not can be discussed at the pub for months or years to come but its in the past and there's nothing that can be done to change it.
We need to look forward to next season and how we are going to approach it. Firstly will Tonda still be in charge if not then who? Who would want to come to Saints? if Tonda is still in charge what measures have been put in place to prevent it happening again? I someone closely overseeing what he is doing?
Of course all this might be irrelevant if charges from the FA are forthcoming, this stinks of double punishment but we have to have faith in the owners that they will fight it through a fair legal process. :-)
The players, already they are being linked with other clubs - Charles to Leeds, hope not - maybe the owners need to sit them down and give them some incentive ( besides their salaries ) to stay. If they do leave who are we going to get to replace them or rather who would want to join us?
The owners need to do something to get our trust back. Reduced renewal Season ticket price? would help. So we in turn can get behind the team and cheer them up the league.
Personally, like others no doubt, I have gone through everything from not wanting to renew, never wearing a Saints shirt again to slowly coming back to entertaining the idea of renewing. I'm getting there. Saturday helped a great deal when Middles-bottlers failed for a third time. The 'low' was to suggest Saints fans - in shirts - turn up at Rockcliffe next season for two days before the away game with Binos and cameras to watch their training sessions. Have now decided that I cannot endorse that, lets leave it in the past for other clubs to mention. Be the bigger club, so to speak.
There is a great need to turn this debacle into a positive and the focus should be on the future and not the past. Onwards and upwards

English football is becoming a laugh stock, its losing its 'reputation' as the best in the world. The Premier League with the handling ( or not ) of the Man City allegations - what is now three years?
And now the EFL with this fiasco, disregarding their own rules ( 14 day reply) , Appeal heard within 24 hours and not 14 days. The changing of the kick-off times depending on the teams. How do they look if we get re-instated? completely incompetent. The issue should have been dealt with all in one go, then this pantomine can end. |

It seems to me that Saints are guilty until proven innocent. Exactly what evidence do Middlesboro have? From the reports I've read its all hearsay! The Gent in question didn't stop, they didn't get his phone.
Personally I think it was Boro's attempt to unsettle us before the two games. Same with Ayling in tonights game accusing Taylor of discrimatory words ( probably called him a f**king cheat or words to that effect )
Interestingly, although the EFL brought in rules to stop clubs spying within 72 hrs of a match they didn't bring in any punishment! So the talk of pts deduction, thrown out of Championship final is all premature. If and I think its a big if we are found guilty then its likely to be a fine. The problem with sh*tty City is they go to Wembley too often and its an expensive day out for their fans. Some even stay overnight which adds to the expense.

I'm really surprised that no-one has mentioned how bad the midfield was in particular Downes, he had a nightmare of a game. Continually giving the ball away. The midfield issue could also explain why the centre backs kept passing the ball between themselves - there was no outlet.
Cant recall if Aribo was on the bench or not but he needs to play in place of Downes alongside Charles |
