I cannot believe the negativity on here. I made a late decision to go as my mate’s a season ticket holder at Charlton. I got there at around 10 mins in. Sat in the home end (that we were attacking in the first half) and until Lamptey went off Charlton couldn’t get out of their half. We dominated every aspect. Could and should have scored one. The rejig took momentum and Charlton were better for 10 mins but apart from the offside (or not) goal, did little. Second half we dominated more and more and the last 25 mins they were barely out of their half.
I completely agree that we struggled to fashion clear cut chances and didn’t hit the target enough (same as the weekend), but the control of the game and play out from the back was fantastic. We owned the game, bossed them on their own ground and they ended up playing out for the draw.
The difference between that and the game last year where we hung on grimly for a barely deserved point was night and day.
Apart from another two injuries I came away feeling really positive and it was actually a very enjoyable nil nil, if one exists!! |

You can make stats do what you want by the application of your bias and by simply ignoring the stats that don’t suit your argument.
A fit and firing JCS is a very valuable player but his reliability is undoubtedly an issue. I would however point to our other issues with the clubs medical team over the past two years and potentially the desire to get him back playing earlier than perhaps we was ready to. It is also undeniable that he didn’t play more than 15 games in either of the past two years and didn’t look robust for a number of those games.
Further, and to put my cards on the table, I refer to him as Mr Glass and my 10 year old has over the past 3 years asked about ‘glass guy’ on a regular basis when talking about injured players.
But on the other side it’s not entirely true to say he’s only ever played 30
Games a season once….
In 23/24 he played 33 games for us.
In 21/22 he played 31 games for Cov
In 18/19 he played 37 games for Vitesse
In other seasons there were other footballing reasons why his stats look worse than they are:
17/18 he was loaned to Sunderland in January for half a season, he played 11 games and got 2 red cards so was suspended for a period.
19/20 he played 19 games for Brum and was on the bench for 14 games…was was only missing due to injury for 6, just struggled to be a regular.
20/21 played only 10 games for Brum. Loaned at the end of October and because of a calf injury didn’t play until the end of November. From there he struggled to get into the team, playing 10, on the bench for 10 and not in the squad for the rest, but not reported as injured. Appreciate some may suggest the absence could be similar to his issues with us, but he was benched for a period and then not selected at all.
So playing devils advocate, you could put forward an argument that he’s very often injured, usually with niggles and me rarely gets a decent run of games because of it and therefore can’t be relied upon. Alternatively, you could form an argument that for 3 seasons he’s played a full part, for the half season at Sunderland he was fully involved and the two years at Birmingham he was in and out of the team mainly for footballing reasons….. |

The kid’s 19, playing at statistically the 6th or so highest league in the World, I find it incredible how quickly some of our fans write off players so quickly.
I like him, he’s raw, but strong and has a bit of pace. That performance against Derby, I think it was Derby?, was really good. Compare his first 20 games for QPR with Madson for example and then consider how well Madson did since. Same for Morgan, who gets a bit of a free pass, I can’t see much difference in their performances for QPR last season. |

Both answers can be correct. Being back next week and not being injured can work together, he may just be gaining fitness having previously been injured or out of shape etc. be a bit odd if he was there, seemingly happy and chatting etc, if there was a massive rift and he was off imminently. |

Fully appreciate all the views on here and a real shame that some longstanding season ticket holders won’t be able to renew. I do however have some sympathy for the club here. I can’t recall there being major hikes in ticket prices and we have often frozen prices. I looked back as far as my emails have renewal confirmations (2015) just down from the Prem. My ticket was around £450. Next season it will be £570 or so. It’s just over 2% inflation annually over 11 years (would be less if you factor in compounding). That's way below inflation almost every year for those 11 years.
During that time the cost of a pint has just about doubled for reference.
My Son is 10 and is obsessed with QPR after flirting with Man City. Because I can’t buy a season ticket in the R block as the seats around me are all taken, I move my seat and buy him a ticket. It’s around £20 a match doing it that way which feels a lot. Perhaps that is why I think £120 for an u18 is okay, but it is still very good value when you consider it’s for 23 games that the club cannot sell to someone else.
Compare our ticket prices to a Prem game and you’d be lucky to get two junior tickets to one game for the price of a season ticket with us. |

This threat is nearly as crazy as the match itself.
Teams going down by 3 early on often get a lot of possession and often shots thereafter. The game was won.
Yes we were clinical and yes we scored some crackers.
But three of our goals were from our players bursting onto a through ball/or winning the ball and beating the keeper with a decent finish….i.e the second goal for each of Smyth, Kolli and Kone. They didn’t break through us once, not once. Every shot they had was from 20 odd yards out, under pressure from a defender or a header under pressure.
Irrespective of XG, you would likely take Smyth x 2, Kolli’s second and both of Kone’s as far better quality chances than almost all of Pompey’s [Post edited 22 Mar 14:59]

The lad has promise and is very young, in a foreign country etc and am certainly not looking to create another Rangers scapegoat…..but…..I can’t recall us ever winning a game with him playing. That sample may well include difficult games, where we’ve rested other players, against decent teams, which may mean it’s not a fair reflection etc etc…..but is his inexperience targeted.
They got a lot of joy down that wing throughout the first half and crosses come on very easily….am I misremembering the good times, and the poor lad has stepped off the pitch in a win or is his only experience of matches, being withdrawn early or is loosing.
A decent loan to league one would do him the world of good. |

Big call to take Cook at that stage though. I can’t see who else he could have changed for Edwards….Field, Hayden and Madson were on in CM, Kolli and Benni just on, and on the wings…..so its Kone or Madson, which would have removed any ambition to attack. Had they got one back and we draw 2-2 everyone would have complained that we were inviting them onto us.
If it’s Cook, you’d be worried about the physical battle given the size of their team.
I completely agree on previous games, but he made four subs yesterday and sensible times.
We could have managed the final 8 mins far better and those senior players needed to push out from the box far better.
We also didn’t stick anyone at RB, Hayden could have gone there and brought Madson, Field and Benni back to the middle.
If you re-watch the highlights it was Kolli defending the RB spot from their corners and left with a 2 v 1.
Dunne, Cook, Field & Hayden needed to get together and get everyone in the right place to see out that game.
In around 500 game I can’t recall seeing such a change in 5 mins. They could have scored 4 or 5 times. Was like the Alamo…..absolutely insane. I was at Man City for the Aguerooooo goal and that wasn’t even that bad…. |

Yep, just saw the interview. Crazy to pick up 4 injuries in one game, especially when you consider the loading isn’t high for those 4. Varane and Burell have played a lot of minutes but have had far less over Christmas. Fingers crossed they are twinges rather than the tear off the bone injuries we seem to pick up! |

In fairness to the club, we have wanted updates and now we get them.
We saw the training videos and they are all back playing and are fit, so ready for selection. Being fit and match fit are different things tho. We have a squad with more depth than I can recall in over a decade, so who would you drop given the international games meant some of the starters were dropped to the bench.
Would you also want to rush them back given the form we were in? If Poku and Chair were on the bench it would mean Saito, Burrell, Morgan, Kolli or Dembele dropping out. These are players that have been putting in a shift this season and not always got a chance to play much- Kolli & Morgan for example. Perhaps the man management is far better to keep the players who have been doing so well, playing and get the guys fully fit back in slowly once they’ve had a decent number of training session and a few development games??? I’m struggling to think what more I would have wanted from the window.
2 strikers secured, offering both pace and physicality between them. Poku and Saito are very exciting wide players. Hayden is a good pro, adds completion to the CM and is a younger, taller version of Colback. Mbengue provides good pace at the back and adds something different.
Various development prospects added.
Moved Kelman on for decent money, got Celar a loan out.
Apart from acquiring a box to box player to take the ball on the half turn, I’m not sure what else we could have hoped for.
If we went back to April and were told we’d sign Kone, Poku and Saito on perms, we’d have fallen off of chairs….
The squad is far, far better than a year ago at almost every position isn’t it? [Post edited 31 Aug 2025 23:28]

Madson’s issue is intensity and physicality for me coupled with mobility at times, however I think his touch and range of passing is excellent. He is not just a recycler of the ball, he plays a lot of one touch passes but they are usually insightful forward passes. He has a lovely first touch with the ability to play first time passes so doesn’t need multiple touches which should allow us to play quick incisive attacks and not keep slowing them down. With quick players around him, being able to play those passes is a real positive. That ball to Smyth was absolutely fabulous and if he’d taken it down, it would have been a great assist. The set piece routine where it was squared to him and he hit the diag to Dunne from which we nearly scored at the end of the first half was also excellent.
Dozell mainly played sideways or backwards.
He put himself about more and won a decent number of headers today. The headers were also actual headers, I.e. they went somewhere forward with a bit of distance, rather than a couple of feet which he was often guilty of last year.
He had a good game and I feared for us when I saw the team sheet.

As exciting as this is, it makes me nervous on what we are doing financially, albeit the loan with permanent option does give us the chance to assess at the end of the year.
I think this and Saito is the Eze money done and whilst it’s very positive, we’ll really need for a few of these players to be saleable assets in the coming 2-3 years, I.e. not do what we did with Dykes, Dickie, Dieng etc, but rather Kelman and Armstrong but to a bigger extent with turning these guys for £5m+ fees.
Whilst I can think of 10-12 players that could have significant upside and profit, it feels we are panicking a bit spending potentially £9m since Sunday with decent wages as well, because Watford and Coventry were big wake up calls. |

Really good to hear Andy is at home and recovering.
Awful news over the weekend and he is such a big part of a lot of what is good about the club at the moment. I immediately thought about the calls he made during Covid to check in on QPR fans who were elderly or alone etc during lockdown. I really hope the club are doing what they can to support him.
