Are the squad not training the 5-3-2 to-day because they should be after a free Saturday yesterday! Surely a bit of an 'old school' approach would not hurt in advance of the cup game next week, especially those that did not make an appearance? |

Our performance to-day particularly in the first half made Port Vale Look like PSG, and given the lack of improvement over the season it looks like we will now unnecessarily be dragged into a relegation battle. Injuries aside I do not understand our selection / formations and neither do the players by the looks of it. Furthermore we look second best to opponents in terms of fitness, speed strength and athleticism. Personally I think that IW is sound and I like his philosophy on the game, but unfortunately he is just not cutting it for me tactically. We have no trademark style and appear to be relying on two veterans for attacking threat and defensive stability. Confidence and morale is rock bottom by the looks of it. Other than Tasker and Brown I would send the loanees back as not being ready for the rigours of the EFL. Wilson and Flint are not a partnership and I am not sure why we signed Sherring. I previously rated Waller but can understand his drop in form given what is in front of him. Why we did not sign another forward given our lack of XG is not clear either with neither Mani or Rodney on the bench. Hopefully some of our injuries can return before the new year but this situation is indicative of our current malaise. Whatever decision is made on the manager, effectively we cannot trade until January and have 9 league games to try and pick up some points with the playing resources we have. It is debatable whether a new man could achieve better results with the players we have through more effective coaching etc. If the decision is to stick we need to see immediate improvements in performance levels rather than the current downward trend. Alternatively if it is to twist the new man needs time to assess what sensible changes he can make in January. I hope that the Board who have already shown patience is decisive one way or the other At the moment the only spark of optimism is that we might get a mini FA Cup run with a favourable draw if we can get past Fleetwood. |

Need a result to get the season back on track. Whoever plays I hope that we have a positive mindset against opposition that tend to find goals hard to come by. UTD |

5-0. Well beaten by good opposition - the league positions don't lie. We know that there is lots of work to improve and just hope that this does not affect our confidence too much. |

Huddersfield are a class above and look threatening up front as well as being solid at the back. We are doing okay in patches but cannot hold the ball up front and have no cutting edge despite the possession. A goal might change things. |

There were some encouraging signs defensively, but as has been mentioned our inability to keep possession and lack of goal threat is a concern. Totally agree that we should not be in this predicament. Neither Brown or Mani will be prolific this season and that needs to be addressed ASAP. Once Hayes and our other more attacking wingers are fully fit we may have more goal opportunities. I am assuming that we are already exploring non registered players and thinking about what deals might be done in the January window. Who plays at 10 is a concern. Also it may be that we need to play with a 'false 9' to utilise our more effective players. The alternative might be to throw someone like EEL / Sherring up front at least for a part of games, to see if the ball sticks or can be won further up the pitch (not least because it doesn't look like Sherring will play at centre back). We need plans B and C especially if we concede first rather than persisting with tactics that are not working. Hopefully we get a result next week against Oldham who lost at home yesterday and by all accounts were very poor. Nonetheless it is a local derby and I just hope our boys are up for it. UTD |

Exactly. When will this useless quango be dissolved? The issues raised can easily be resolved or conditioned without a holding objection complicating matters. |

Spot on by Chaff - worrying times! Even if we improve I just don't see where the goals are going to come from. Like most of the fanbase I hope that I am wrong. |

My interpretation of the statement is that it is a 'vote of confidence' in IW. The board have an agreed position which will respond to 90% of potentially awkward questions or allow them to curtail debate on difficult matters. The Forum could probably not have gone ahead in other circumstances. It is really unfortunate that IW is in this position as it is largely undeserved in my view. Every manager makes mistakes but his have been magnified by rotten luck in respect of injuries and consequent selection problems. I hope he turns it around and we get 2-3 points in the next two games otherwise the decision will become a formality. On the basis of recent performances unfortunately I don't see how he will do it against two useful sides. Hopefully he gets the support in the interim from the club and players to restore some confidence. |

James- not sure that this is a good idea and would potentially open a can of worms and undermine IW making the whole situation even worse? I am of the opinion that at this delicate time the Forum could be damaging and maybe should not progress although it is a bit late in the day to postpone? |
 | Forum Reply | Refwatch - Rochdale v Gillingham at 01:46 6 Sep 2026
The responses given post match by IW were very plausible but he is now under intense pressure. As he acknowledges he needs to deliver points and the next two games are critical. Patience is a virtue but time is running out. The Fans Forum should be postponed as this could do more harm than good. It would no doubt focus on obvious errors with signings, selections substitutions etc. Sam Waller who is a competent goalkeeper surely need to relieve Ramming at the moment. As has been stated elsewhere Wilson is not ready for EFL2 football. I think we may be stuck with Sherring and Maguire. Given Mani's form we may need to play with a false No 9 and utilise wingers to attack unless we find an unregistered player. Even so we now have too many wingers. Our strength is in midfield and we should seek to utilise Adeeko, Taylor and Gilmour as often as possible in coming weeks. Hopefully others returning from injury will also help although most are long term casualties. I am not confident we do have the calibre in the squad and waiting for the January window will be too late. What has TAR done wrong not to feature in games? Given that it is early days, I do think there are three or for teams who are as poor as us therefore we should focus on our own mini league at the bottom of the table. We need to be a s competitive as possible. UTD |
