I believe you always have to think about them in their era and assume that would translate to the modern day.

The one I always think of is Gareth Edwards. A giant of the game in the 70s but imagine him now in the professional era with the current access to training, strength and conditioning, nutrition etc.

He’d rule the field.

Not many of those around any more although probably more than clergy promoting gender ideology.

That gender/non binary thing gets blown up by those who continually use the word wok as a proxy for ‘things I don’t like’.

Fortunately, it’s seems to me that it’s getting easier to have the discussions without using outdated and meaningless terms as insults.

Couldn’t agree more.

As things stand it just doesn’t seem sustainable. I’m retirement planning without taking the state pension into account.

Maybe partly as we told now (correctly) that paying in isn’t a savings pot for you, you’re paying for those already retired.

Just playing Devil's advocate here...

When we hear of young people strugging financially we of hear that they should not have a phone or Netfilx or buy coffee from a shop.

Did pensioners at the time think that the state pension was all they needed and didn't have to make provision?

I do find it interesting that Rupert Lowe is saying the lock has to go because young people are having to pay for it. Maybe its not such a left wing angle after all?

Immigration of both kinds grew exponentially during the recent dozen or so years of Tory rule. Was that down to the far left?

Those opinions are my own. I move in comparatively liberal circles both personally and professionally and I can discuss them openly with no fear of being called a racist.

On here number of posters keeps saying their being called racist. By whom exactly? Not other posters thankfully so who is doing it?

When ever I ask about who want unlimited immigration I’d get back things like Care4Calais or human rights lawyers. These are the fringes.

It’s the inability to deal with the situation that’s the issue much more than hard left fringes.

Thing is the far left are a pretty small group.

Most people will say they are concerned about levels of migration and think the the current illegal immigration situation is a massive problem.

I just don’t buy the young can’t say anything about immigrants because you’ll be called racist. In the majority of real life settings, I don’t think this happens.
