He's been on loan at Estrela de Amadora from whom we signed Heverton. On that basis, no thanks. |

The ideal is good healthy pitches with a decent bit of competition between bat and ball, but not impossible. I like to see good batters bat, not just desperately try and survive and then get a grubber that nobody could stop if they are playing remotely properly. My dream is always for two first innings of 350+ but nothing silly, and then a nicely deteriorating pitch for days four and five. As a Durham man, delighted for Emilio Gay. He's been fantastic since signing for us. Rode his luck as you have to on this, but an assured 57 I thought. Really hopeful for him as an England player, and great to have a kid from a low income non-private school background making it to opening for England. |

As a longstanding sober alcoholic I'd take my alcoholism over a gambling addicton any day of the week. Walking past the fifth betting shop in poor neighorhoods and looking inside is as bleak as popping your head in the Lucky 7 in Cricklewood Lane where I grew up. Met many a gambling addict when doing rehab talks, an awful disease. |

They're going to have to take the hit and close Lords for a couple of years now to sort this pitch out aren't they. Awful surface, not sure what a batter is supposed to do with some of these deliveries i.e. Bethell and Smith this innings. Think they were saying it'll cost the ECB £12m. I play in the lower echelons of the Sussex leagues these days, and see better tracks on a regular basis. |

With a name like that you'd presume he'd be quite a grounded individual, with strong roots in London potentially. Begs the question will he really be looking to tear up trees in the Championship as we'd hope? Would this be contrary to his nature? It is also well documented that monocultures are pretty terrible for both the environment and for football clubs. We have Sam Field, but do we also want a field full of small no. 10s? Ballers as far as the eye can see? |

They seem pretty fond of this in Haywards Heath where I live nowadays. There's one called the Aspen not far from me that just looks like it shouldn't be allowed. Loads of empty office space in suburban commuter towns like mine though as all the satellite offices for large corporations shut down, and 90% of workers commute to Gatwick, London or Brighton. Guess there is a sort of sense to it. Looks a bleak place to live though and we're just in a two-bad flat in a 60s development so hardly living in a rural mansion. |

Almost everyone I grew up with should be dyed in the wool Labour voters. The party should still be in our blood passed down by the generations. I was a Labour party member and campaigner for years. Hardly one of us have anything to do with it anymore, and certainly won't vote for them. If I wanted to vote for the Conservatives I would... Bleak times in the country. [Post edited 14 May 17:30]

Bit dubious about Sidibe as don't think Ligue 2 is the same general standard as the Championship. Yeni Ngbakoto looked a great punt from there, and my memories of him are from rosy. He went from us to Guingamp and looks to have done well for a few years. |
 | Forum Reply | Tuck among 7 development squad releases at 08:25 13 May 2026
It will be genuinely interesting to see where a lot of the current development squad end up over the next few years. They definitely seem to be a step-up from what we have produced for much of the last twenty years. As said, at least 95% of these players aren't going to make it at the level required, and lots of the bigger hopes are those brought in from elsewhere/abroad rather than truly homegrown. Watching the game v Dulwich Hamlet they were miles ahead technically of that level, and remember someone mentioning they sat next to a scout from Oxford City of National League South during the cup final v Brentford last year who said most of our players were too good for them now. I'd expect at least some of the crop like Putman, Dyke, Dillon and Sutton to make decent careers albeit not at the level required for us (unless things go drastically wrong!) That said I thought Harry Murphy would eke out a decent career but he looks to have gone from Bedford to Bracknell and been released again without making a contribution in National League North. |

I don't like to be too critical of young players but I would be amazed if Adjetey-Brew makes it any higher than the Conference. I thought he looked pretty suspect in the Dulwich Hamlet game, but it is the only time I have seen him live and so potentially a snap judgement. |

Just back in Sussex, great night out at a lovely club and ground. Thought we were in for a long night after 15 mins, but the gulf in technical quality and coaching really came through. Pearman a real highlight, and intrigued to follow his progress next season. Always impressed by Putman when I see him but perhaps a little lightweight. Was also encouraged by the young Swedish lad playing 8, and Scarlett roasted their right back a few times. I was less impressed by Tylon Smith who I thought struggled the most first half before settling. Hope his confidence hasn't been rocked by his first team struggles. Lots of good performances. Hard to assess against a side five steps down, but there was a real gulf in class at least. You Rs. |

Pretty sure there's a seismic dip of HLE in W12 every other Saturday (with the odd Fri, Sun, Mon, Tues and Weds) between August and May each year. Health research stattos can't work it out. |

Going with my dad. Looking forward to it. Never been to the ground. |

Agree with this. He's effectively played a full season of Championship football, and is starting to show he can cut it at this level. Sending him out on loan to League One wouldn't make much sense at this stage. At best we could loan him to a side likely to struggle in the Championship next year like we did with Manning once, but if we've got a talented kid who has just turned 20 and showing rapid improvement he's gotta be in our plans next year. All in for the actually using the squad suggestions, and him deputising but getting starts as the long season progresses. He is an excellent athlete which you simply can't coach, and the rest of his game is coming on leaps and bounds. |

Great report Clive, we really did play very well. I met a father and son who sit behind you on the way to the game, am glad they must have had a peaceful game too. |
