Loved both seasons, but as you say, season 2 is excellent - the Xmas day episode is mad

How would you rate our squad?
at 09:54 26 Dec 2023

When we have our strongest 11 available, I feel we have a team which can compete with most teams in the division - with the real exception of our strikers. There’s never a feeling that they back themselves to score and unless we find goals from somewhere, I think the next few months are going to see us struggle to get out of the relegation places

Odd that Kerman comes in for criticism. I thought that first half I’d have singled out a lot of others for basically coughing up possession when under no pressure whatsoever. Kelman played out of position on the right and was a willing runner and got some decent crosses in. He faded in the second but I wouldn’t write him off just yet on the basis of that game

I find it hard to change the narrative in my own head at times. I wasn’t Dozzells’s biggest fan in the past, but to me he’s made a significant step up this season. He has a certain casual style which can at times make him look anonymous, but he’s often the one breaking up opposition play, and of the 2 holding midfielders, he’s the one making the progressive pass forward. Field I think could do with a rest as I think he’s had 2 indifferent games.
As for Richards, no worse or better than anyone else in the midfield last night - but he was showing for the ball. As a previous poster mentioned, he’s ours, and under this management, most of our players have shown significant improvement, so I’m happy to wait and see that happen with him. Here’s hoping.

I was convinced Mike Fillery would be a world beater for us. Average at best

Was intrigued enough to look at the details of the game on-line. He did indeed play as CF and score a hat trick

Red card changed the whole game, no doubt. Jack Clarke was a handful anyway, and occasionally, we will pay for the fact that Smyth is a willing but not a natural defender. Thought Bellingham seemed to drift into dangerous areas without getting picked up. I know that some have commented about dropping too deep, but if we’d pushed up, we would have been picked off at will. All things considered, I thought we gave it a good go, but Sunderland are too good a team to play against for 80+ plus minutes with 10 men.

Just finished second series of Perry Mason. Have to say I thought it was well scripted and acted. Can’t quite understand why no series 3

That’ll be Eddie Simon. Already got over 30 this season. I’ve been to quite a few of their games this season as my daughter’s boyfriend plays for them. Top of the table clash next week against Basingstoke.

First place you ever chucked up after drinking
at 15:56 22 Mar 2023

The Swan, Hammersmith, 16th birthday. Had eight pints, which was way over my limit, and didn’t realise that every one of those had an extra measure of vodka. Remember getting a bit mouthy and one of the lads lacing my beer threw some beer at me. I tried to reciprocate but let go of the glass and knocked his front teeth out. Managed to walk home to Acton somehow and next morning thought I’d got away with it. Mum called me into the bathroom where I’d managed to fill and block the sink throwing up. She demanded I clean it up which set me off again. Mate’s dad then phoned up demanding I pay for his son’s dental surgery.

Should have paid more attention when you said’ You do still sense there’s some real grim stuff still to come, from this team, and this season.’ Prophetic stuff

While I think most would eventually tire of a simple long ball approach, I do think it was the right call, on a number of levels. Aside from the obvious, which is that in particular the first half we played the game in their half rather than finding ourselves stuck in our own. The biggest upside was that it absolutely suits Jimmy’s game, and that as the game wore on, Dickie seemed to grow in confidence. For me those 2 have been the biggest victims of our lack of form, finding themselves asked with carrying the ball with absolutely no-one demanding it off them - simplifying the game in the short term looks like it will help them . I also thought playing Sam Field as a roving extra man was brilliant in that it allowed Kakay and Drewe to push up without worrying about being exposed.

I had some man love for him today. Who knew he could cross that well with his left? The Watford fullback clearly didn't
