Liam Rosenior
at 16:55 7 May 2024

Seems a bit stupid to extend his contract by 3 years in Dec, only to sack him 5 months later! He didn't miss out on playoffs by too much and probably deserved another summer to build on what they did in his first full season. I think Rosenior will do well somewhere given the chance though. He seems like a good coach who stays level headed and he's only in his late 30s still.

A great pro and a big character just wish we had him when he was younger. Best of luck to him! Wants to move to a club in the Midlands to be closer to where he lives....I know a League One bound club in that part of the world who might go for it Uncs!

Better than Crystal Palace 6-0

The Leeds game was really good but that Palace one was all sorts of crazy. I was there that day (think I was about 15) and just watched the highlights back. Totally forgot about that Chinese lad getting sent off for pushing the ref and all of those balloons on the pitch! I clearly remember Palace fans putting up a massive sign stating 'A iceberg sank the Titanic, don't let a Goldberg sink the Palace' they must been up all night thinking of that one

The LFW Confession Box
at 10:40 29 Apr 2024

The early season form and style of football was so demoralising I 100% thought we were down by October. Around that time it was a clusterf*ck of poor management (on and off the field), bad refereeing decisions like the Swansea home match where he handled it into the goal and one or two injuries in key positions, I just thought there's just no chance here. Then Marti came in and had the first new manager bounce in QPR history (sort of!), but a large part of me still thought, at least it wont look embarrassing when we go down now, he's installed some fight and something for us to get behind and build on from League One (faint hope 80% thought we were going down). Our dreadful Christmas/New Year period (do we ever do well at Christmas?) pushed me back to 90% going down again. The Millwall win gave me slight hope but the performance against Huddersfield quickly took it away again, I was convinced we'd need to win that, so I still didn't really think it was on. But then the January window closed and we signed three players (Frey, Anderson & Hodge) who I hadn't heard of and Issac Haydn who I thought was a really good player from what I remember of him. After watching a few youtube clips of goals Anderson and Frey had scored in the Danish and Swiss prem and reading a few references on Hodge, a little bit of blind hope crept in. Maybe they'll be amazing?! Maybe we'll go on a run?! Cant be any worse that what we've got! So I think I started to think maybe something could happen after we beat Blackburn away and Hodge scored the winner with the sort of calm finish we'd been lacking for ages (60-70% going down still). Side topic what happened to Joe Hodge?! scored a crucial goal on debut, was part of the Stoke non performance and was never really seen again due to the improving form of others but I'll always remember his goal as one of the turning points for me. Anyway after Blackburn (Stoke aside) we got a lot better and the new players had an impact (Frey against Norwich) Anderson (Norwich & Bristol) and Haydn was just very good consistently around that time. But like many others have said the Leicester win was the one that pretty much tipped the scales to 50/50 for me. Followed by the brilliant WBA performance. It was the Dunne goal that really had me believing though, as Clive said that was 'the moment' we'd been looking for that was one of the best moments id seen in ages at Loftus road and paved the way to survival (with one or two twists along the way!). Confession over.

If we can sell for a decent price (Although his on going legal problems may change what we can get possibly now) then I think we should sell. There was a Turkish club reportedly interested in him in Jan wasnt there? Maybe they'll come in again in the summer. With the way things have gone in their league recently an assault charge on his CV may actually increase his value!

Slightly surprised he hasn't had more sub appearances, but the defence has performed so well since he got injured where else would you fit him in at the moment? Unless he knows how to play CF! I sense he hasn't really been fully fit since he got here and been carrying an injury of some kind so maybe he's just been working on his fitness.

I was so annoyed that he missed that chance in the 2nd half, but on reflection he had a decent game and is a very handy squad player for us to have on the budget we're on. All his running and workrate also helped Willock to have a positive impact from the bench against a tired Plymouth defence in the later stages. On a different subject, did Chair go off injured last night? or was he just knackered?

Great to read that he would be keen to join us, but if he has got two years left on his Newcastle contract its probably going to be tricky to get that deal done. Other Championship clubs (and maybe even a few prem teams) will be in the mix for him now he's proven his fitness with us. He has been brilliant though and if we do stay up, then he's played a big role in helping us do that. He reads the game so well.

We obviously started very poorly, the back 5 looked very edgy, but I thought we grew into the game well and created a lot of chances so that was good. Mainoo was probably the biggest positive of the night for me. I really like the way he tries to play forward at all times from deep in midfield and in crowded areas and joins attacks too. As much as I like Rice, I think he struggles sometimes with that aspect of the game so the tempo slows down. If they could build up a partnership in the middle that would potentially strike a really good balance. We missed far too many chances without Kane there and the defense looked so vulnerable on the counter attack against the pace of Doku. Desperately need Stones, Walker and Shaw fit to make it look half decent but even then we look susceptible to conceding in a back 4. Kind of reminds me of a higher class version of when Warbs had an attack of Eze, Bright, Chair and Wells but couldn't trust Hall, Barbet etc to play in a back 4. Big decisions for Southgate ahead, but as long as Bellingham and Kane are fit we've got a chance against anyone.

Talks about us quite a bit on this and some of it is pretty similar to the one he did with Simon Jordan a few weeks back. Probably the most open I've heard speak about the Beale situation though.. 'Michael's a very confident, confident person' There's a thin line between confidence and arrogance Les!

Thought he was excellent again last night. So many players at Champ level would've have just blasted a shot in for that first goal, but to have the presence of mind and calmness to pick out Field in a box full of WBA players was class. Still probably doesn't look fit enough for a full 90 as he seemed to fade a bit in the 2nd half but he's made an instant impact.

Baggies Or Not Baggies... QPR Vs WBA Match Thread
at 22:31 6 Mar 2024

Well that was eventful! Kind of get why the ref didn't give it, as his view was probably blocked from where he was and bearly noone from our side appealed for it. But where was the lino? Surely he should see that?! Joke. Proud of our performance though just kept going and a point was the least we deserved

Stan Bowles – 1948-2024
at 16:16 26 Feb 2024

Great read. As someone who was born after Stan's era, its so lovely to read about him and what he meant to fellow fans who were lucky enough to see him. I think my first proper memory I have of seeing him and realising how important he was to QPR was this great BBC series that used to exist (maybe late 90s early 00s) where they took a classic season (in this case 1975-76) and did a month by month breakdown of what happened. Stan's goals and skill in that programme made regular appearances, as did the anecdotes about him from the people they interviewed! A true legend. Sad we've lost him so soon after Terry Venables, but I hope they're up there together now catching up.

They really are! Let the manager who was actually doing a pretty solid yet unspectacular job go (Warbs-Rowett), then get a bright young modern coach who plays the 'right way' (Beale/Critchley-Edwards) then when that goes tits up, hire the former playing hero to try and save you! (Ainsworth-Harris).

Yeah, I think there's been numerous issues and arguments over the years between the owners and the council, but I do vaguely remember that comment about the church bells. What a prck. I remember when I was a kid (90s & 00s) there was always talk of them moving to Copthall which they eventually ended up giving to Saracens which caused another big row.

I think the original idea was that the Hive would be their perm training ground and temp home whilst they found a new site (that was over ten years ago!). I haven't been to a home game since they left Underhill, pretty sure Davids was in charge. Didn't see the point of going to a place to watch your home town club not play in your hometown. Travelling around to watch the R's is more than enough for me!

Must be time for Martin Allen to make a return. Maybe Barry Fry can be DoF!

As someone from Barnet, I'm amazed they've finally got into this position! Underhill has always been their home and great to see they might have finally got a plot of land to bring them back to the town. Fair play to Tony Kleanthous! Seems like they've still some work to do on the process though
