Ronald would be daft to turn down Millwall. They're a good team, they've got every chance of getting into the play-offs again and he's going to get good minutes playing for them.
Surely they'll be at least matching the contract he got with us. |

I don't think we're going into sign players these days unless we're specifically wanting them. We aren't using Jamestown Analytics for data for us not to use it.
Strasbourg have spent £70 million this summer and brought in £150 million in player sales, they aren't going to be dependent on using injury prone players as makeweights. If it works out that we are interested anyway then fine, but they've got plenty of funds to sign Viptonik outright. |

If we're in for him then I guess his data last season was very good. But if that's his injury record I'm sure we'll have known that going into any deal, and would have wanted a thorough medical which seemingly he hasn't passed.
To be honest I've heard good things about Seelt, Cabango's injury isn't too bad, and with Welsh and Lissah as well be fine at centre-back anyway. |

Watch a fair bit of Scottish football and he is really good, I'm shocked he hasn't been picked up by a club like Celtic up until now this window. Would probably cost a fair bit, I'd guess around £5 million or so. |

I think Welsh and Cabango will be a better combinated than Cabango and Burgess. Both of those are two similar as defenders in a partnership.
Welsh will do everything simple and read the game well and keep things a bit steadier. |

Shame on the Almeida front, but if this deal falls through with the way we seem to be doing our business this summer we'll just move onto the next target and if we want a player of his type, it'll just be a case of who's next down the list.
We don't seem to be putting all of our eggs in any basket, and there does seem to be clear processes to how we're signing players. |

Yes very good to know.
With a heavy amount of loans it's just an endless cycle of having to rebuild a team every year, with no real upside on a decent percentage of the players we're developing. |

The more I look at clips of him (and it's only clips in fairness), the more I think he's going to be used as one of the deeper midfielders here.

Competing for two positions to me makes sense. Then there's about 8 players competing for 3 positions slightly further ahead which is a lot granted, maybe a sale or two in that area.
I just don't see the room for Almeida to play higher up and join those 8, and when you watch him he doesn't score or assist too many goals, but he's got all the attributes you want from someone deeper. |

I think probably what's likely happened is initially he probably wasn't keen on the idea, and fair enough it's a move from Valencia to Swansea in the Championship.
But if he's taken some time to consider it, then he's going to go from a club where it's not quite worked out for him, to a club and a manager that really wants him, that does have strong Portugease connections, and the Championship will be a lot better paying than it would have been 5 years where there is the opportunity to go onto play in the Premier League.
On the face of it it wouldn't seem like the best of moves for him, but the more he'll look at it the more sense it will make. |

I wonder if Matos see's Almeida as more of a #8?
Primarily has played as a #10 last season, but has also played deeper and out wide. I agree there's a lot of options in attacking midfield and out wide, and it does seem like too many. |

I don't see how we'd have the financial resources to have Adam Idah, Vipotnik and Ross Stewart.
If Stewart comes in, I'm sure it'll be to replace Viptonik and the money would go elsewhere. |

The right move. I know we've let go of all of our Welsh players bar Cabango, but Cooper is League 1 standard and we're looking to push on as a club. |

There are plenty of different models out there looking to replicate it, but they are going to be able to directly copy it and as models they just haven't proven success/track record that Jamestown Analytics has behind it.
Also on comments that surely someone needs to watch them live, it's really about identifying potential players from which you would then want to be watching them either live or as much footage as possible. You'd then also wanting to be getting an idea for their character/personality before signing anyone.
And as for the likes of Reeves not needing in the past, he didn't but I would imagine in this day and age the likes of Angel Rangel and Ferrie Bodde would be getting highlighted by other club's analytics now in the way they weren't back in 2007. At the time we were ahead of the game, and also around 2012/13 we were also ahead of the game and buying players from significantly cheaper markets in Spain where we could get Michu for £2 million and even Pozuelo for £500k. We've got to keep evolving though, and this is currently the best model to follow - although we also need to be looking ahead as it's going to keep evolving. |

Anyone with any idea on the fee, I guess that really makes the difference in terms of whether it's good business or not. Would be a bit disappointed if we didn't get £1 million for him.
As for the other Swans player, if true I would guess Oli Cooper. Fisher he'd want but they've just signed Alex McCarthy. They've lost a lot of players, and whilst the ones they still have from last season should be too good for the level they just need depth and I imagine Cooper would be pretty cheap depth who he knows well. |

I've tried compiling the player of the year award winners on the club's wiki ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ under award winners.
Anyone know any of the winners from missing years, there's nothing about it on the club's site, but they've referenced Dave Bruton as having won it as early as 73/74.
