Seems very early days to rush to any kind of judgement but a few thoughts. Losing two £30 million players was always going to have an impact. It was the soar of missing out on promotion and another year with reduced parachute payments. The window was surely about mitigation rather than investment. In keeping Tonda they prioritised stability over yet more upheaval and the signings of Peretz, Larin, Long, was part of a strategy that meant only three players went out from last year's active squad and each has been replaced by JWP, Schlotterbeck and Mubama. Quashie and Robinson need playing time and better to have a Forest loanee warming the bench rather than one of ours that is an investment for the future. Whilst another striker would have been optimum given BBD, Archer and Downs leaving, presumably an upgrade on Princewill wasn't available and he and Akachukwu now have more chance of being in matchday squads and coming off the bench. Edozie will be brought back into the fold and I'm still hopeful that Ramsdale will get a loan to Turkey or Saudi. |

I think it's just about scraping some points before things settle down after the transfer window closes. Only then will this years team start to take shape. I don't understand some fans antipathy to JWP. Hopefully he will be a good replacement for Charles with Downes and Jander ( when fit) as the first choice centre midfielders. There was a time when he virtually carried the team singlehandedly and I'm hopeful that his quiet professionalism will be a great help to Tonda. If THB goes we still need a direct replacement in addition to Schlotterbeck, it's disappointing that neither Kayi Sanda or Quarshie were able to step up and need to go on loan. I'd like to see a third striker come in if BBD, Downs and Archer can be offloaded along with Ramsdale, Bazunu and Sugarwara. |

Assuming THB was on a four year deal, his accounting value is £10 million now. If Saints can get £25 million for him minus the profit percentage to City, the financial benefits are obvious. To be fair THB has done his time in the championship and should have had his third promotion last year. I don't begrudge home a move to Villa. Time for Woody and Quarshie to really step up. It's always disappointing when those players bought to step into the first team having gained experience don't actually deliver - Saliisu and Diallo to name two. |

I think the difference this year will be that Larin will be more clearly first choice but with Mabuma coming off the bench fairly regularly. Hopefully both will be fit enough to complete 80-90 minutes if required.. Given Eckert's preferred style of striker we might still need another centre forward rather than BBD or Archer. Personally, if finance isn't an issue, I'd keep Archer and let Edozie and BBD go playing Archer or young Romeo A off the left as a backup to Scienza. |

Sorry but I think shifting those you've identified will be a real problem and will have to be either heavily discounted or loans. In the past we've done well getting top dollar for those with suitors, Lavia, Dibling, Fernandez, Tells, Ward- Prowse etc but struggled to offload players performing well below their salaries at Saints. The fact that Newcastle, and Leeds have gone elsewhere for a new goalkeeper suggests Ramsdale will be loaned abroad for a percentage of his wage. Sugawara and Diaz were both loaned last year and are on PL money at Saints. Archer and Bazunu will only attract lower Championship clubs who will struggle to pay their wages but they might go to get game time. I cannot see £60 million coming in without selling THB, Scienza or Jander. |

I think players will need to leave if opportunities are to be created for these players. If THB leaves without a replacement the door might be open for Quarshie and Kayi-Sanda, but it's a big ask to replace his quality and experience. Seems to me that Oyekunle and Downs offer another style of striker to Larin ( + another target man) but will need Archer and Diaz to leave if they are to become options off the bench. Sadly I don't think Eckert fancies Robinson and the arrival of Dobbin provides a backup to Azaz. Perhaps if Edozie goes a space might be created but they are very different players so a loan seems likely to me, despite his undoubted ability. |

I don't think Gavin Bazunu is an awful goalkeeper. He is great with his feet, he's brave and makes some excellent reaction saves. Unfortunately, his stature works against him being a top Championship or Premier League keeper against strikers who regularly find the corner of the net. His angles and speed of reaction have to be that much better to compensate. It also limits his ability to command his box from set pieces forcing him back on to his line rather than risk catching or punching against bigger opponents. I wish him well and hope he finds a club in Division One or the Scottish Prem where he might well be very successful and a fans favourite. |

Happy to accept that its very early to judge Downs but we surely can't go into the season with just Larin and Downs. We've really suffered having Ross Stewart for the last three seasons with the "hope" that he would stay fit and lead the line preventing us from signing another established centre forward. Che Adams helped out in the first season but at the expense of running down his contract, Onuachu was brought back to help out but for much of the time we were reliant on Adam Armstrong and three at the back. Whilst Downs might improve he isn't a "like for like alternative for Cyle Larin" which served us well when Stewart was finally fit enough to make a contribution. |
