The press could be explained by a different set of players starting and being out of sync, but honestly I don't think that explanation is sufficient. Viptonik looked off in the press but he has been playing under Matos for almost a year now. Some things are also just not about coaching, but about the player's ability to read the game. Elijah Just for example simply didn't realize when he should start the press, even though it was very obvious. It genuinely looked like we just wasn't clocked in. On the right back troubles, I think we will have to create a clear gameplan when we face a top winger, with either the winger or a centre back being instructed to go out wide and help Lissah/Key (with a midfielder dropping behind if a centre back goes wide). Either way we'll have to improve. |

Thank you for the kind words! Yes, if we are to properly challenge for promotion we must be difficult to press high against. We ought to be a team that controls games and suffocates opponents, but 70% possession means way less if it isn't in dangerous areas. We can of course go long at times and switch it up depending on gamestate and opponent, but vs Sheffield we had no other options. Needs to be better. |

Lissah in midfield is very interesting... As you pointed out, we ought to remember that our midfield has one new player and a starter missing, give them a couple more games and we can start to evaluate properly. With that said, I still think Stamenic + Fulton shouldn't even be considered... |

Thank you! Link-up play was indeed really nice in the first half, we were "fluid", as Matos would've put it. As you said, after Widell's yellow he seemed to become more timid, obviously worried about a second booking. i do think he can fill that number eight role though, he just needs some better decision making, but I can see why Matos plays him in Franco's absence, he's the only player who can replicate Franco's frenetic energy off the ball. I think Stamenic + Fulton as a combo should be locked away. They lack long passing range and ability to drive with the ball and this makes it really difficult for us to take space with them. |

Thank you! There will be more analyses to come, especially regarding our press as I find it very important, and something that most people won’t really think about. On Stewart, we have gauged it to be a 8/10 chance that he comes in for a medical, and that would mean he is almost guaranteed to sign. Very rarely do medicals get denied. Cheers! |
