Lovren Return Key For Saints
at 10:43:55

Enjoyable read as always, my instinct is to agree fully. It's very odd that the 'feelings' don't match the results.

In 20 games Lovren's played it's been 1.2 goals conceded/game with 1.4 pts/game.

In the 7 without it's been 1.3 goals conceded/game and 1.6 pts/game.

Statistically (t-test unpaired) there's NO significant difference if he plays or not.

Saints Stars Individual Choice On Homophobia Campaign Weekend
at 16:40:02

Now I know some players may actually struggle to be intelligent enough to lace their own boots nowadays but supporting the Kick-it-Out campaign, which isn't just about racism but also homophobia, should be standard. The Stonewall group is about reducing homophobia so players should learn to lace their boots...

I especially hope ethnic minority players support in full the Kick-it-Out aims.

What could the Premier League learn from the MLS?
at 18:06:22

Interesting read. I do like the more active 'Capo' idea.

Point 1 fails to acknowledge footballing history of those that died. Your first point fails to know that many stadiums have the 'naughty' end where everyone stands for most of the game - they can't throw everyone out right?!?

2. The 'food-to-you' scheme is from baseball where games last 3 hours typically, not 90 mins - it's a different culture. There just

3. There is explicit encouraging folks in - it's called corporate hospitality. The prices have been paid in advance so folks do it that way.

4. Having to give fans props to have an atmosphere - it's a bit cheap. As a one off why not, but on a regular basis? We're not American.

5. A Capo idea can be good, it can be cheap. Where would be the space in football stadiums? There is some Capo concept with stadium MCs anyway.

6. Raise great points on drinking. The biggest factor is the cost! Stadium prices are £1-3 more pricey than any pub. It's unaffordable, and they wouldn't serve a drunk person anyway...

It's somewhat ironic that the costs of football always increases with the number of American owners, so forgive me for being hesitant about wanting Americanisms being encouraged.

Who Is Your Favourite Football Commentator Of All Time

How can Gary Lineker be on the list? He's never commentated a whole game. He should be on a football show presenter list as that's what he is. confused.com indeed (bunch of idiots themselves).

Saints Refusing To Be Held To Ransom
at 10:27:25

Let's get behind Cortese on this!! We DON'T WANT TO BECOME ANOTHER QPR, poopey or the like. We have a 32,261 capacity stadium, while with fairly proportional TV money admittingly, and need to operate like one. WE DON'T NEED MONEY GRABBING, LACKING MOTIVATION, LACKING PROFESSIONALISM F*CKWITS. Especially those that could inturn unbalance a pretty professional and motivated squad we have already!!

Player Review 12/13 - Yoshida
at 12:25:36

Also that Saints did lose 29 points from winning positions, yet did win 9 points from losing positions. So it should be reported 20 points were actually lost if you're not going to mention the 9 points. http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/teams/Southampton.html Truth, lies and statistics eh :P

Player Review 12/13 - Yoshida

Just something about dropping points that stuck with me. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1649035-top-5-what-ifs-from-southamptons-prem

"the actual numbers suggests that Southampton wasn't as bad at holding leads as people may think. Southampton were actually 7-2-0 in games the team led at halftime, taking 23 out of 27 points in the process according to SoccerStats.com.
The Saints scored seven goals in the last 15 minutes, and conceded 13. Southampton was actually worse in the 15 minutes prior to halftime, scoring 11 and conceding 19.Even more interesting, if you took the results as they stood at halftime, Southampton would have a record of 9-15-14 for 42 points, just one point more than the 41 the Saints finished the season with.

Seems like the blown leads weren't that big of a deal at all."

Saints At Aston Villa The Verdict
at 14:43:23

Here's something no-one's mentioned. 4-4-2!!!

That's 4 wins, 4 draws, 2 losses over the last 10 games.

I'm very happy with that!!!
