We have had some stinkers from everywhere, haven't we? Anyone remember Adam Czerkas and Alessandro Pellicori?!?
But to be fair, we don't do brilliantly in the UK either - sure fire bets like Connor Washington disappointed, others like Mac Bonne were probably predictable. And this is just looking at strikers!
It seems like our recruitment is getting better now (praying hopefully), but I think we all long for the late 80s, early 90s when we were the ones picking and growing obscure players, much like Brighton and Brentford today.
Seeing the favourite team XI, it made me think about players whose name gave me shivers when I saw them on the team sheet - a mistake never far away. I am sure I have missed some real dross, but here is my starter:

I am delighted my second beloved Vicenza got promoted straight away after losing at the last hurdle last year.
Speaking of which, I was there when Mark "Spit" Hughes-less scored one of his volleys to knock Vicenza out at Scumford Bridge in 1998 in the CWC Semi Final.
Honestly, memories of that goal are a close second to the Andy Campbell disaster in 2003. Goals and moments that I NEVER want to relive.
And of course, I forgot Shabazz Baidoo, who created his own music genre!
As well as his career as a professional footballer, Baidoo has a music career under the stage name Terminator (otherwise known as T or the Darkside Pioneer). According to his GrimeForum page, Baidoo's musical career is secondary to his footballing and is a recreational activity. However, since the end of his football career, his output has been more sporadic and he prefers to be an unsigned artist.
Baidoo is said to have created his own musical subgenre within grime known as "darkside", which predominantly involves a "sluggish flow" coupled with violent lyrics. Some of his musical techniques include rhyming words with themselves and holding one syllable for an extended amount of time to allow a bar to pass. Sometimes Baidoo will even make use of one word lines in his lyrics.
On 19 December 2013, Baidoo released Darkside Pioneer. On 2 November 2015, Baidoo released Darkest Facts of Existence. In March 2019, Baidoo released a surprise project, his third album, Darkest Facts.

I was there, at least for 5 minutes I basked in Ainsworth's goal and then the train journey back from Leeds when Chris Moyles was being ripped apart over the train tannoy!

Although if you only do Charlie's first stint (Which I think is fair), he too is at 0.55 for league games, 0.54 if you include cup. I almost forget just HOW good he was first time around.
Totally agreed, but he got his money from being a great player! I didn't fully appreciate how good he was until watching him live in our match in the Premier League. He was always a step ahead of everyone on the pitch, finding space and a step ahead. I had never really seen that when watching on a TV where you don't see the whole picture.
I realise this sounds like an argument for proper scouting versus statistical databases to select players!
PS As Queen's Park - Rangers was a tie, can we pretend that we didn't get knocked out in the third round, but actually took part in the Scottish FA Cup and got through some rounds?
Agreed that we don't see the kind of upsets we do in England, but even those are now tinged with team's playing their reserves. I still remember Mickey Thomas' goal for Wrexham against Arsenal as a proper cupset.

Very well put, I just saw that quote. I hope the kid is more Son Heung-min that Ji-sung Park. I remember being excited by the signing at the time, as unlike all the others, I thought he was a grafter, but he was RUBBISH for us. I just don't understand that period of our history
Sky gets a lot of things wrong, but as a fan, listening to Jamie and Gaz talking about the match, thankyou Sky - they both admit they are struggling to not be biased. Great to see two ex-players still carry such a strong feeling for our great club. So many memories from both of them (let's ignore Gaz's managerial stint)
I know this is not QPR related and hopefully not a Spackman. I am resigned to us extending our 3rd losing record (although our record at Leicester is not awful compared to Ewood Park, Deepdale and other traditional burial grounds). But the tie of the round for me is this. For my generation - this brings back memories, even my kids love the ad now!
