I’ve looked at the fixtures and there’s a full National League schedule tonight.
Wealdstone v Carlisle probably isn’t the worst of it.
Aldershot v Harrogate
Barrow v Yeovil
Gateshead v Sutton
Hartlepool v Eastleigh
Fylde v Forest Green
Tamworth v Worthing
All on a Friday night.

We’ve named 23 players for September to December.
As far as I can see, we’ve named all the over twenty ones, except Larkeche, who presumably won’t be fit during the period and Dixon-Bonner, who must be completely out of favour (unless I’ve missed him going on loan or something). [Post edited 4 Sep 2025 16:34]

Arthur Albiston signed for Man U. a year after Matt Busby left, but he overlaps with players who were there under Busby.
Alex Stepney didn't leave until '78 having joined in 1966, so was there with Arthur for six years.
Matt Busby became manager in 1945, straight after WW2 and his squad included players signed pre-war.
Bert Whalley played for Man U before and after the war, then joined Matt Busby's coaching staff (sadly dying at Munich). Bert signed for Man United on the 7th May 1934.
I can't see anyone earlier than that who played post-war, so that does appear to be the earliest date that there were no Man U players who played for either Sir Matt or Sir Alex. |

I've just had a quick look at the FA website and I believe that if one team uses a "Concussion" substitute, the other team gets an extra general substitute. |

What about Steve Morrow. Lightweight and injury prone for us, but bettered at Arsenal by managing to be injured in the League Cup Final, celebrating a goal. |
