In over 50 years I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a well rounded Saints squad. Everyone is playing their part; Larin has proved to be a real asset and I’m really pleased that Archer had such a great game.
I’m having to eat my words, as for most of the season I didn’t want us to get promoted, fearing a repetition of last season, but now I see it essential to keep this squad together. |

For me it feels like the ghost of last season has finally been laid to rest. The shape and attitude of the team is good and we have a squad that is fit for purpose and a manager who is willing to learn from mistakes.
I have nothing but praise for the contribution Adam Armstrong made to the club, but his departure has worked out well for everyone, well apart from him possibly? |

I’ve been a supporter since the 1970s and have seen lots of ups and downs, but I’m now completely bemused with what’s going on at the club. It is crystal clear that we have a problem in defence and simply changing the keeper will not change that. We have scattergun approach to recruitment, with quantity rather than quality being a priority and, with respect, untried or mediocre players replacing those who can perform at championship level.
If we carry on like this, and we probably will, I can see us achieving anything this season, or the next. Fingers crossed I will be proved wrong. |

I’m really looking forward to the match tomorrow & hoping that TE has had time to work on the shortcomings of last week. It’s becoming increasingly clear we won’t get much out of the transfer window, so it’s important that Eckert can transform our defence in the same way he has unlocked our attacking players.

Eckert has transformed us from one of the worst teams in the league to the absolute best, but last night gave hope to teams yet to visit Saint Mary’s this season. As pretty much everyone has said, 2nd half strategy needs sorting & quickly, as we are being found out.
Bazunu pulled off some stunning save last night, he definitely kept us in the game & has played his part in the Saints revival generally- the dissenters should give him a break!

We seem to have got ourselves into a situation where subs play a holding position, rather than pose any kind of threat. All well and good when we are ahead, but I wonder about those situations where we find ourselves chasing the game.
For me the return of our more attack minded players on the injury list can’t come soon enough; I like our “first 11” setup, but we also need an attacking plan B. |

Let’s face it, any management appointment is a risk. There are plenty of examples of far bigger clubs than us appointing superstar managers, only to see them fail dismally.
Hopefully under Tonda Eckert, we will have more days of entertaining football and great results; St Mary’s already feels like a different place & that’s down to him. |
