Excellent article. I imagine different countries' football associations are loathe to get involved but I've been struck at how quiet the hierarchies have been. Where is the outrage? Why was the ridiculous FIFA Peace Prize allowed & given to a child-like warmonger? Doesn't Infantino realise you should never pander to a disruptive child? Where are the protests about pricing true supporters out of attending matches? Surely Canada, in particular, should be congratulated for welcoming supporters from around the world and allowing them to enter without fear. I'm sincerely hoping that the 2030 World Cup shared by Morocco, Portugal & Spain will get us back on track with less controversy however the damage has already been done! Shame on you FIFA! |

But 'ReslovenSwan1' maybe he wouldn't have found his life spiralling out of control if he'd had some kind of ongoing support. We'll never know but as Keith Haynes wrote "a complete waste of a young man's life'. |

A very sad but well written article. I've often wondered whether young players get any ongoing support when they're released from a club's academy and how long any support lasts if they do. Surely this is essential particularly with young impressionable young men who suddenly have time on their hands after losing their dream and find it difficult to talk about their thoughts and future outside of football. Heartbreaking to read this as a Mum of five sons. |
