Fleetwood cack — Report
at 13:23:44

Clive, thanks again for first class report, pity we don't have a first class team. I wasn't at Fleetwood but love, respect and thanks to all who made it. I am going to comment despite not being there as I have hardly missed a home game since about 1960. Last season, I felt the effort in the first half of the season overwhelmed us. We were winning games by single goals after desperately hanging on so I felt we just ran out of steam for the later stage of the season. This season, I am not so sure that I was right as similar collapses have happened with three perfectly decent managers. I have in recent times certainly felt we needed a rough tough captain preferably in midfield - someone who the players are a bit frightened of and plays every week. . I don't believe you have to be that great a team to get to sixth; nine big, strong average ability outplayers who are regularly fit plus a slightly (only slightly) better than average striker should do the trick. Having said that, I really believe the current squad have the talent to finish sixth even if they played without a recognised striker, which might be worth a try. The Beale episode was unfortunate but he may well not have left if he saw promotion for us was possible. Unfortunately, he probably saw that having "led QPR to 17th" wasn t good for his cv! What is going on as I don't think this is just down to players or managers? Well, I obviously don't know but I am going to guess that it is something to do with the general culture within the club because people are being too honest (you too, Clive!). Les and Lee are to keen to say that we are a selling club with enormous budget problems (all true). Unfortunately, I think this may come across as showing a lack of ambition. A bit more of "this club is going places and we do not intend to sell our best players" may improve the culture within the club and may make our average players feel less of the view that Ilias or Chris or Seny will be off soon and our promotion chances will be gone. That's it: just the opinion of an average fan who rarely comments in public.

Bit of a long shot, but my choice would be Mr Clive Whittingham.

A way to win - report
at 09:12:55

It's Thursday and I'm still in shock and need couselling. Never felt this way after a win before. Does anyone else feel the same?
Clive, wonderful report but don't know how you are able to write - had to dictate this short comment due to the shaking hands which comes with post traumatic stress syndrome.

Suarez-inspired Liverpool accelerate QPR descent — full match report
at 00:24:19

Thanks Clive and all other commenters.
Three points:
1. Obviously an awful performance but over 50years I have seen worse! - even home v Watford in the promotion season wasn't that great. It was, though, a one off.
2.Comments on players were all as I saw it although Mbia was at least trying despite his pathetic and persistent diving.
3.The Board have no choice now. They will be well aware of the implications of relegation and the difficulty of getting out of the Championship. Harry will be given LOTS of spending money. Will this work? Don't know but accepting relegation as inevitable would be a catastrophe.
Happy New Year to you and all your readers and contributors.

QPR cling on to top flight status after amazing day of reckoning — report
at 10:29:42

Clive. Hoping for some Clive like performances from the Rs next time around! - many, many thanks for everything this season. I was paralysed with fear and trepidation all last week and took this with me to the Etihad. I could hardly move or speak during the game but havin a transistor radio clamped to me ear didn't help! I was utterly exhausted afterwards and the group of City fans I spoke to felt the same - almost too drained to celebrate properly.

Possibly the greatest day of all time
at 10:37:50

Clive. Many thanks for this and every other report you have done. The knowledge, research and time you must put in is remarkable and long may it continue. As an attender at every home game it is wonderful to read a report by someone who has seen the same game as me! I can then relive the away games, which I don't often see, in the knowledge that I would have gone through the same emotions as you! Well what a bizarre season! I have been through many since Brian Bedford was king but this has been one of the most remarkable for many obvious reasons. What has surprised me (arrogant sod!) is that I have been so wrong on many things this season. When NW was appointed I thought at best he would produce a steady, boring side that might get to the play offs - wrong. I was underwhelmed by most of the signings - journeymen I thought - wrong again. The Adel T signing was brave but he would never stay in the team throughout the season - wrong. In the end I thought Adel would be player of the season as I don't think we would have been promoted without him but we may well have been with another goalie - wrong. Right from the Barnsley home game I thought we were giving the opposition too many scoring chances and we would pay in the end - wrong. The bubble had burst at the Watford home game and we would end up in mid-table -- wrong. We would be docked loads of points by the FA - wrong, wrong, wrong and Wow! Finally my man of the season must be NW. I would not have dreamed he of all people would have built a team around AT with the formation he used. I am still gobsmacked. What a man!

FArce hangs over final day celebrations — full match preview
at 08:32:44

Bit worried now that I understand that Prem is involved in the hearing. Very concerned that outcome might be that we retain Champions standing so that players retain medals etc but that we are excluded from promotion. Play-offs would go ahead with original teams with the result that only two teams promoted AND only two relegated from Prem.

Ten man Forest fight back to deny QPR — full match report
at 10:33:05

Once again a first class report that reflects what I saw. Many from other sources don't! Like you, Clive, I'm very nervous about the centre backs but can't see NW changing them whilst results are ok and we all hope that continues. Wasn't sure that he was right about with the public rant over Mat C - thought it should have been kept within the club. However NW hasn't done much wrong so far so he is probably right! I thought Miller was excellent when he came on although obviously Smith was missed. Worried that paper talk indicates that Miller may be recalled by WBA. Hulse is obviously a good player who knows what he's about but clearly is yet another striker who doesn't fit in with our playing style. He is clearly a very confident dependant person and I can only see downhill progress from him. As for the result, before the game I would have taken draw because of Forest's form and even run away leaders draw with other top teams at home. Obviously the sending off makes us think that an opportunity was lost but on the other hand with 11 I could see Forest winning even when they were a goal down, so perhaps it was point gained! Like you I thought they missed an opportunity by going so obviously for the draw in the second half.

Ten man Rangers secure famous Reading win — full match report
at 17:24:35

Again a great report - many thanks. In my view (although I am prepared to be corrected!) because of the sending offs the two Reading games have been our best and in many ways the most significant of the season. I thought we were brilliant in both games. Faurlin would be my MoM if I had to choose but personally I thought everyone deserved an award. No problems at all for the rest of the season if we can maintain that sort of performance. Once again, brilliant.

Taarabt’s good fortune knocks luckless Pompey — full match report
at 09:36:26

Dear Dr.Clive. I can tell from your Pompey match preview that you have a good understanding of delicate medical matters but your excellent match report has made my problem seem much worse. I hope you can reassure me and tell me that I am becoming a sporting hypochondriac but in truth I am turning into a miserable version of Adrian Chiles. I have watched many QPR promotion sides but never have I seen one that gives the opposition so many gilt edged scoring opportunities in home games throughout the season from Barnsley in August through to last Tuesday. I am now so concerned, Dr.Clive, that when I look at our remaining home fixtures where I should see Palace or Ipswich I now see a whole list of Watfords. I am really worried as opponents seem to create and miss at least two or three unmissable chances each game whereas we huff and puff until the Magician Taarabt scores from a non scoring opportunity. I know that being 5 points clear with a goal difference of 30 and 14 clean sheets makes us brilliant but I'm not seeing it that way and I'm feeling really desperate now. What happens if Conjurer Kenny's loses his magic power which makes opponents miss ? What happens if Magician Taarabt attempts one trick too many and disappears up his own backside? Can you help please or am I beyond hope?

Golden Graham smashes QPR’s unbeaten record — full match report
at 12:09:39

Right, I'm talking to myself here rather than you guys!
1. In August I would have bitten hands off for Dec with 4 points clear and a game in hand, even with a trouncing by Watford.
2. Having seen every homegame (but only tv of away) I believe that generally (but not always) the Gods of Run of the Ball, Penalties and Other Teams' Results have been on our side. Even this weekend the latter was still supporting us.
3. Rs were so awful on Friday that its a waste of time to single out individual performances.
4. Having seen the full match again on tv, I have changed my views in one or two areas. For example on Friday at LR I thought we should have lost 0-7. I think I was a tad harsh, I now think 2-6. I also thought Taarabt should have gone at ht but now think, despite his awful performance, he was still the only R likely to create anything. Anyway he is what he is which means he will win more games for us than he loses.
5. Because of the aforementioned Gods we are probably not as good as we think we are in a Division which is not brilliant this year. A couple of weeks ago I would have put a lot of money on 2 of the top 3 being the auto promoted clubs. Now I'm not so sure - there could be lots of twists and turns before May, maybe starting over Xmas.
6. Is Friday a blip or start of a slump? If Leeds beat us easily I'll be worried but if we play reasonably well even a narrow defeat won't worry me too much. I'm reasonably confident the old heads we now have around will steady things.

Thanks for letting me talk to myself!

Health and safety nonsense hovers over Hull trip — full match preview
at 09:58:25

Brilliant read. Many thanks for giving me a good start to the day! You are right about the Baseball Ground in the sixties but the good citizens of Derby may have similar memories of Loftus Road! Both were dreadful at times! Your H&S rant is spot on. I visited Sainsbury's yesterday and their ice rink disguised as a car park saw many of my fellow over 60s doing involuntary pirouettes, flips and splits. No major damage done and no staff telling us not to shop. If not going to Hull suggest a supermarket visit - might just be great entertainment! For those going to the match, our form and league position should really be good enough for a win but even in a brilliant season I get still nervy about all matches, so I agree with a draw. Will say 1-1 as I think we will score up there, if it goes ahead, which it won't!

Stiff south coast examination awaits unbeaten league leaders — full match preview
at 20:27:14

Sir- That is a remarkable preview which is even more awe inspiring as I suspect you are talented enough to produce it in 15mins! Respect and many thanks for all you produce.
On the immediate match front, the Pompey game looks tricky to me but then as an R all away games do! Anyway after Saturday, which I thought was our best and most complete of the season so far, anything is possible and to be honest if we are not optimistic now we are beyond hope. Having said that though the fixtures this week could result in Swansea being top by Sunday night. Sorry but 50 years or Rs watching does that to you - wait and see for yourself!
