According to Portuguese press Saints are looking at his replacement which may make the transfer easier ... think its probably his agent shopping him around more than anything... BUT all the press have jumped on it being its Benfica! Its a hypothetical as no one can answer it ... truth is that with the increased revenue streams opened then the squad they have now would be completely different ... get around 4 million in TV revenue (all the rest comes through season tickets merch and player trading), compared to what 100 million in the Prem? Now whether the board would release any of that money or keep hoarding it like Scrooge McDuck, is another question altogether! |

Seems strange given the turmoil at the club at the moment, unless Farioli has seen something and when he becomes the manager, replacing the Argentinian Anselmi, thinks he can do a job? Would imagine that THB would prefer to stay in England though ? |

Been filming Testimonials all day , starting in his first club, where they have renamed the academy in his honour since 2022. The groundskeeper who actually encouraged him to join in with the others, Diogo was actually at the swimming pool waiting for it to open for his lessons, when they kicked the ball out of the park, he controlled it and kicked it back... the rest is history.
Also went to the stadium of both Paços de Ferreira where he really started his career and finally the stadium of Penafiel, a second division team, where his brother played ... all in all a very sad day here in Portugal |

Exactly... I have done an Analysis Certificate with the Barcelona Analytics team and one of the key parts in the course, was exactly about set pieces , be that free kicks, corners both in swinging or out swinging even throw ins ... all can be analysed and improved by looking at patterns and the statistics. You can also tell which player in the defence is the trigger... dont forget during the typical match you could have over 20 different set pieces , again be that corners free kicks or throw ins so understanding how to better use their advantages is huge in modern football. |

With Bloom from Brighton taking a percentage at Hearts , and using their moneyball knowledge... maybe just maybe they could make a better challenge next season ? According to the statement the Yank owners are going to make a share issue to raise 20M ... they already have 4.5 ring fenced for a sicknote winger, so unless Saints send some players on loan , can't see them selling anyone to RM, as surely they will be wanting to make money ? Believe it or not.. Fonte was still playing in the Portuguese First Division this season, as player/coach of Casa Pia (small club just outside of Lisbon) who finished mid table.
Vasco Matos is highly regarded here and it would surprise me if a bigger club than Santa Clara (who play in the Azorean island of São Miguel) didn't come in for him. Another highly rated coach who led Estoril to a respectable position is the Scotsman Ian Cathro, who again is being linked to bigger clubs. Most of the successful managers here from the smaller/medium sized clubs get linked to Brazilian clubs. |

Portuguese tickets are reasonably easy to get .. If you want to see Porto at home unless it is against the 2 lisbon teams its not that difficult , they sell well but there are usually some available. IF you do want to see them then try to get a ticket for when they are away .. If up north then Boavista (also in Porto) Rio Ave (about 30km outside in Vila do Conde which has beach and some wonderful fish restaurants, as it is a fishing town) Famalicão , Moreirense are other clubs where they don´t sell out that often and are smaller grounds with 2 stands (Famalicão) or 2 plus behind 1 goal (Moreirense)

Was Cacá the Corinthians centre back who got involved with Alacaraz. Yuri Alberto made the "foul" and was sent off but if you see the footage Yuri Alberto Nº9 is far from any confusion.. plus its an Argentinian/Brazilian thing .. they are not the best of friends anyway. Just back in Portugal after a short trip back to Southampton to see family after 13 years. Jaysus what happeed to the centre ? Hardly recognised the place.. had a strange interaction with someone outside of West Quay .. who asked me aggresively if I was from here (I was with my Portuguese wife and kids plus my Ma who moved from Belfast in the 70s (I was born in 73)).. I replied used to be .. he then asked me where the nearest sex shop was ...
Feckin expensive cost me over 2100€ for flights and hotel (feckin bastard ghosted me after having arranged and confirmed for 2 months on Booking.Com .. should have stayed in Ocean Village for around 600 quid .. ended up in Warsash in a feckin fixed caravan for almost a Grand... jaysus ... |

Wouldn't worry too much as he only wants to play for a team challenging in one of the top 5 leagues. He is inching closer to Atalanta but they still haven't met the fee that Celtic are requesting. Have heard a lot about the fact that he didn't make the Euro squad (which surprised a lot of people in Denmark - Thomas Graveson especially called the decision wrong) , the main reason given by the now ex coach was that he wanted to stay loyal to those that had played in the qualification games. The stand in Danish coach is the ex Celtic player Morten Wieghorst who rates O Riley very highly so will more than likely call him up. Also we are taking about a guy of 23 years old ...who had just progressed from their U21 team .. so it's not a huge surprise that he didn't go to the Euros. Atalanta are currently in negotiations with Juventus for Koopmeiners and see O Riley as his replacement. |
