Lots of misses by both teams, so 1-1 was a fair result. As an observation I thought that both our wingers were poor. Fellows was mainly back to his 'pass it back at the first opportunity' worst! Numerous times we had made progress forward only for him to turn an put it back into our own half!! Frustrating to watch.
Controversial maybe but you can see why Premier League teams have not been beating the door down to sign Scienza. He has occasional moments of magic but other times merely runs down blind alleys, or straight into defenders, then immediately thinks he is due a free kick, so drops to the ground. Alternatively, he passes into nowhere or straight to an opponent!! Harsh maybe, as he can be magic at times but more often than not, he isn't! A strange contrast between the two, with Scienza possibly trying too hard at times and Fellows just desperate not to lose the ball! |

What a great night. Agree with so much written above.
A few observations about Saints: Not only are we playing better tactically as a Team, but pretty much every individual has been coached/motivated into a better player. Manning, for example, has often been good going forward but he seems now, a much better defender, which after all, is his primary role. Stewart has the abitity to hold the ball up with with back to goal and then use it well, reminiscent of a Ricky Lambert sort of way. Even a word for Larin, it was his strength to hold off the defender and give others the chance to power forward, that led to the winner. Tonda and his Team really have delivered a capable and well motivated team. Let's hope they get sufficient chance to catch their breath and re-group before Tuesday evening. |

Agree with SaintPaulVW on both Edozie and Larin. Larin, in particular, against West Brom, played with an intensity that embarassed several players who had been 'phaffing around' for the first hour, and in some cases continued to do so!! |

Agree with RedWight that Larin deserves a mention. His effort and concentration of everything going on around him was noticeable. The determination and turn of speed that he showed to 'endeavour to get on the pass than never came', from Scienza was really impressive. He looks like he wants to be here and make an impact, which is good to see. |

Apart from the humiliation of being beaten twice in a week by Saints and the circumstances of Tuesday's game, I can't see Leicester wishing to field a strong team, when they are clearly in risk of dropping into Div 1. Equally, if you asked a 100 Saints fans whether they wanted promotion to the Premier League without huge investment in the team, I bet you wouldn't get many takers! So let's make a solid FA Cup run top priority and who knows how far we might go. After all, it is the 50th year anniversary. |

The owners clearly have no amition for the club and seem to contimue to stumble from week to week, presumably in the hope of a big money day, when someone comes up with an attractive offer to buy the club, and then they can jet ofv into the sunset! |

In terms of preparation, their goalkeeper was known to be a great stopper and proved it throughout the game. Therefore, it was either going to take something special to beat him, or more intelligent play. Scienza was through on goal and his shot from within the 6 yard box had liittle chance of beating him, while a simple ball the Armstrong should have made it 1-0. Again, later in the match, Armstrong rather typically scuffed a shot straight at the keeper. Our strikers need to be coached to make more of these chances, no least when a team is defending so deep and doggedly! Conversion rates have been poor for a very long time. |

With Fellows out, once Norwich had removed the Scienza threat by kicking the sh*t out of him at every opportunity, Saints went back into their Russell Martin 'shell' and it was a pretty sorry show as time went on! |

To me it is simply 40% Will Small and 40% the players that he has inherited and in some cases brought it and 20% the coaches. I am struggling to find the opposite of 'clinical' but that is where we are with strikers. Wasteful will do. They are frustrating to watch. You know they are going to either mess up the opportunity, hoof it wide/over the bar, or as so often happens, give the keeper an easy one to save, as shot straight at him! Do the coaches not see that? It has been like it for ages, by and large! So they get my 20% blame. That said, the manager is supposed to bring something to the game during the 90 minutes and mostly Will Small has messed up winning opportunities IMHO, with his ridiculous substitutions and lack of tactical nowse! |

Agree with Bowlercow. It is one thing when your goalkeeper is man of the match against a high flying opponent. It is quite another, when against a relatively lowly team. We certainly look to have paper thin confidence and once pricked, we become very porous at the back!!
Once Downs comes on it is almost like playing with 10 men. You feel that Still is determined to prove that the right decision was made to sign him. Currently, he is a Div 2 striker at best! Agree with others that Robinson should have been given the chance to come on, with plenty of time to make an impact. |

Lots of positives from the match, already well covered above. From my position, that 11 by and large, turned up, worked hard right until the end and showed so ambitions. I would reward them by keeping the 11 virtually unchanged, apart from maybe Robinson for Archer. Plus of course Downs, well and truly left on the training ground, to prove has something to offer, which I doubt he does!! |

Agree with Monksway. It should be good for his confidence to build up a goal tally ahead of next season, in the Championship, where he is a very effective player. Sadly, not quite there in the Premier League. Constantly being subbed and/or missing half chances in the Premier League won't serve him or Saints well! |

The question now is "Will SR want a Manager who tells them the home truths". That we don't have a bad team.....for The Championship but are seriously weak for the PL. You only have to look at the likes of Adam Armstrong. Thrives in the Championship and has failed to be an effective striker twice at PL level. Be very surprised to get an stablished name in charge but will live in hope! |
