Yeah, true. Like most coaches (for some reason) he seems to have become more and more rigid and reluctant to change things up. Although I had the feeling we'd get a few tonkings and there have been games where we've been way too open in the first half and games been over at half time.

It could be said the changing manager hasn't moved the dial. But if we hadn't made a couple of the recent changes we'd have likely been relegated. Beale was the last manager to get consistent results and that obviously didn't end well. I think JS deserves credit for improving the home form which had been dire for years.

Madley was the standard homer. As Clive said he seems to hate us which isn't unusual. Strange as can't remember the last time we had a homer.

Thinking about Superstars, Kevin Keegan was the exception that proved the rule about footballers being a bit of an embarrassment on there.

Last season season he was bullied off the ball too easily but then seemed toughen up and get the hang of the league. Hoping this season is a mental thing and we can find a way to build his confidence. May be look at his diet as he's skin and bone. None of our wide players have found consistent form - there must be a reason for that.

Norf probably right that rolling the dice has always been risky and clubs have to be
'lucky' like Aston Villa to get away with it. I do wonder if Rednapp had stayed and been allowed to sign Defoe we'd have most likely stayed up. But likely just to have postponed the inevitable by a year.

'As teams get bigger and stronger'. You've surely got wonder why that is. Smaller players get kicked and barged off the pitch and Championship referees let it happen in the name of 'letting the game flow'. Yes, he goes down too easy but as others have said, that was a stonewall penalty and he was also the victim of GBH. Give the guy a break.

Great choices, but a bit light on subtitled films so:

1) The lives of others
2) Cyrano de Bergerac
3) Betty Blue

Le Tissier's loyalty was commendable but also he didn't want to go to a big club where they would have wanted him to run around a bit and get fitter.

Yeah, JS boxed himself into a corner there. Game 3 of the week so surely you manage the 3 windows to use all 5 subs and leave yourself the option of using the 5th late in the game.

I think all we could hope for is for JS to admit he didn't manage the substitutions well. Disappointing he didn't do that.

I sort of admire and enjoy his principled if sometimes slightly potty viewpoints, but may be being deliberately contrary. But recent fawning over Mark Robins as some sort of martyr whilst dumping on JS was very bizarre.

Spot on Clive. Sorry to introduce golf, but even great players like Seve had some dodgy gamesmanship in their locker. Personally, I'm fine with it as it doesn't look like a rule/law change is coming anytime soon.

You have a point & credit to those that travel. But I think the team have been fairly entertaining a times this season albeit inconsistent and almost naive at times. Like or not shithousing and dark arts are part of the game now.

I think Norf and Brian's view is skewed by their fondness for Cifuentis and by Madsen's obvious dislike of the same. The idea that we'd be looking to replace a key midfielder who is starting to turn into a saleable asset is crazy to me. That said Norf goes to away games and has a right to be frustrated with his below par displays,

Fair points, especially re performance in the cups. That's been going on for more than 30 years so baffling to know what the issue is there as different owners and management in that time.

True, but his team was also bigger, stronger and nastier which many seem to forget

I find the narrative that the club has a standards problem just because we are inconsistent a bit silly. Yes, it's an open league but still very competitive. We have decent strikers but our other forward players and midfield are either small or not very combative. Against teams of giants who have no problem resorting to the dark arts we get regularly dominated. No great mystery surely.

Stainrod says they are supposed to be professionals but must forget that they are also playing against professionals. I think the our playing style means it's difficult to dominate in some games away from home. Key is to stay in the game which we did but it's not always going to be pretty.

It may be the large dose of night nurse I've taken but I've got a feeling Beale might do OK if he gets another chance. He's desperate and presumably v cheap.
