Reading that article, he hasn't said anything that paints the club in a bad light. Wouldn't think anyone would be particularly upset by it. It's a bit of an overshare but that's social media for you and Charlie is all over it. I'm sure he'll find a decent job somewhere. Good luck to him.

Obikwu - Injured again

The club just released something on Social media about Saturdays game. Was that not him at the end saying he was looking forward to the game? Is it official that he's injured or just a rumour?

Assuming Southampton have a sell on clause, I'd say £8million plus and we'd have to take it seriously.

Do we accept that we paid £2million for him because that is what was reported but do not accept that we received £1.5millio. For him as is being reported?

Both figures are probably inaccurate as they'll be based on all sorts of conditions.

I'll happily go weeks on end without a drink. Can't be dealing with the hangovers anymore. Still nice to have a few pints every now and then.
Non alcoholic beer is so much better these days. Shame it's as pricey as the alcoholic variety.

6ft 1 left back. Seems the kind of signing Millwall would.make and I like it!

If I'm reading the article right, it says £1.5m upfront with add-ons up to £2.8m.
Decent business for both clubs I reckon.

Gallstones
at 21:32 8 Jun 2026

I had mine whipped out around 10 years ago. I'd been struggling with back pain for quite a while so went to see doctor and turned out it was caused by gallstones. Because I was younger and low risk, they sent me to a private hospital in Wimbledon to get it done. I guess the NHS wasn't in such a state back then. From detecting the stones to having the op was only a couple of months. Maybe a week off work for recovery but other than that no lasting side effects.

Possibly my favourite ever tournament. I was 15. I'd just discovered beer and alcopops. I was certain we'd beat the Germans. The innocence of youth!

Care home
at 21:36 1 Jun 2026

If memory serves me correctly, we asked for a needs assessment for my mum from her local authority and there was quite a significant wait time. Her deterioration was so rapid that we didn't have time to wait for it and had to take matters into our own hands. Because she has property, money inherited from my dad (they were separated but still on good terms) and a decent pension the local authority only offered to pay something like £200 a month towards her care costs of around £10,000 per month. She was 75 when she had to go and live in a care home (78 now) and should have had plenty of years left to enjoy her retirement.
As LBlock mentioned, if your father in law has any assets it would be worth seeking financial advice as well so any legacy can be protected as best as possible.

Care home
at 18:39 1 Jun 2026

My mum was living alone and it became increasingly difficult to keep her safe. She would not engage with the carer we arranged to help her in her home. She stopped eating and was incredibly vulnerable. Fortunately we made the decision to move her into a care home before something really bad happened but a lot of people only make the move once a real crisis hits. It's an incredibly hard decision to make but we really had no choice. Caring for someone with advancing dementia requires specialists in a specialist environment.
Mum is doing well, having been in her care home for 3 years now. We are lucky that her dementia has not left her in a state of agitation. She does not really know who we are any more but she is happy to be in our company and we try and get in and see her at least once a week.
It's the cruellest disease. I've come to accept it but occasionally you stop to think about it and you realise how horribly sad it all is.
Good luck to you, your wife and your father in law. I know you will do what is right for him.

Try and visit as many local care homes as you can to get a feeling for the place. They will also be able to advise on the steps needed if going through local authority. My mum doesn't receive any support from LA and her care home costs an eye watering £2300 per week. This is partly due to additional costs for specialist dementia care. We have been able to sell her house in Balham to pay for it.
Fortunately, you're not based in London so should be significantly cheaper to find somewhere you're father in law would be happy in Suffolk

Walsh
at 16:19 2 May 2026

Watched the first half and just watched the highlights. Once again the criticism of him is way OTT. I would like to see us sign a new keeper but how about our defenders also start to defend properly or our attackers stop passing the ball to the opposition. What the hell was Edwards doing for the third goal? Clear the damn ball man.
Sign a new goalkeeper sure but he'll also concede loads if we let the opposition dominate possession every week and defend as a team so poorly.

I'd definitely have liked to see Smyth out there. Not sure you can ask Madsen to do a job in a two given he's only half fit. Do we know that Kolli is fit? If he is then he must be finished at the club and being sold this summer. Nardi last week was worse than Walsh.

Bennie as a lone striker is a shambles. Twice in last two minutes we've regained possession and he's just passed it straight back to them.
