I saw Hearts win at Celtic in Dec, they’ve had a good season - tailed off a bit. Fans of national team are optimistic for Shankland this summer.
When I first moved to Scotland (late 90’s) I was told of the business model for certain new stadiums being built (ICT, Falkirk, Clyde) included a large away end or stand that can be used for away fans (particularly Celtic /GR).
I believe over the years that fans revenue has reduced in comparison to other streams (not to the extent of in England though), so less need to accommodate Old Firm away fans. As alluded to above the cost of policing / stewarding increases the more away fans you attract too.
"I've been told that West Brom played with two keepers for a while.
"I'm not here to complain. I'm here to make sure my team is better, so if we need to play against two keepers then we need to practice playing against two keepers.
"Football is a game with mistakes and unfortunately refs can make mistakes as well. They have a very difficult job - the second most difficult job, after being a manager.
"On the pitch I thought their keeper made an amazing save - I mean the real keeper. That shows you how difficult the referee's job is. I was shown it (on video) afterwards."
We can be more like Marti.
I loved Gary O’Neil cheating (getting caught) at Wembley. Brom fans loved Cedric Kipre cheating (not getting caught) at LR. That’s football.
I could be wrong but I think I see JCS admiringly clarify with Kipre what happened at the end of ext highlights. Professionals make big decisions quickly. Kipre made the right one.
Good post hoopsie Agree with gazza that they’re all massive now. Need to focus on consistency - getting the most out of this squad until end of season (grow confidence).
Avoid looking at others around us, concentrate on who we are and what we can achieve (we will win, draw and lose before May). HEAD
Of course, we’re fans too. With other teams picking up points around us - what do we think the safety points total will be? 47 - 52…. HEART
Anyone at LR last night close to the corner where Dykes celebrated see Sam Field batter the corner flag in delight? Great to see passionate players. Could’ve had someone’s eye out 🤣🤣
Useful Nix. He hasn’t said he’s depressed or suicidal. Arranged a day out on a hill with him next month, getting him out the city feels right. Appreciate you taking the time respond.
Sorry to hear that wombat. One of my pals lost his mum and last month his partner finished with him. It’s hit him hard and he’s withdrawn. All he’s said to me is that he is sad all the time. Drinking each night to sleep etc. I don’t know what to say or do. What is helping you wombat?
“Give it time mate” feels so empty.
Doesn’t help he’s a Liverpool fan just now either.
It’s those surprise moments that really get me. Something too about predators in the wild (although owl sanctuaries are up there with roman forts for first date options... Partridge?). Ospreys are the birds most recognisable with fish, but I’ve been told that a hungry peregrine will steal or pirate a fish caught by an osprey. New England on the list Boston - covid scuppered attending a wedding near Camden, Maine in 2020 but we’ll get across one day.
Lucky enough to ‘meet’ Bowie on the set of Labyrinth. Whilst waiting for the lighting to be adjusted for the thousandth time I remember Bowie loving a bored Jack Purvis getting up in front of the crew to belt out Let’s Dance. Two men with lights dancing in their eyes and smiles.
Later getting more into his music - and connecting with pals in a Aigburth flat to David Live. Here Today, Gone Tomorrow - tell those you love now.
Alright Wirral Where about are you based? My in-laws are Old Swan Broadgreen. Watched the Bournemouth game in the Mason Arms Gotta a pal from bebington too, his nephew goes up to Tranmere. Nice talking.
Must be 5+ years ago but enjoyed a visit. Stayed in the Maldron for a work weekend. Had a cracking night in Bennigans with a polish/Irish gypsey punk band who knocked my socks off. Loads of history, lovely people.
Nice one. Okay so Remembrance Week is the period of time that the poppy appeal is active, Makes sense so it’s as visible and effective as possible. This means that the club committing to poppies on shirts across a number of weeks could show support more broadly for the poppy appeal rather than specifically just Remembrance Day/Sunday.
Yeah, interesting OP question. I wonder how many charitable requests the club gets over the season, must be tricky to navigate through and prioritise.
Thanks Stowmarket - and for all your support for the British Legion.
Remembrance Day is the 11th - Armistice Day marking end of WW1, remembering people who have died in wars. Remembrance Sunday is also marked each year and is the second Sunday in November.
Never heard of Remembrance Week until now. Is it new, how are people getting involved?
