The commercial side doesn’t matter. It is, what people make of it.

No, you’ve totally missed the point.
Most who lost their lives during WW1 were working class people. Probably many footballers (as well) who got sent to the front lines.
This is the time to respect and remember those poor souls, who went through a living nightmare.

Used to pop in there on my way from the bus station to the Dell.
Apart from the obvious they sold records and cool band/artist t-shirts.
The Gaumont was next door, so concert tickets were also sold.
Saw a lot in the early eighties, Style Council ,Billy Bragg ,Simple Minds and Joan Armatrading stand out as the best. Thinking about it maybe it was without the I (in general) [Post edited 1 Nov 17:46]

Didn’t go there but my dad was a speedway fan.
He took me sometimes to see Coventry Bees,
I think they were called.
It always coincided with visiting his family there.
Funny thing, living in Denmark now. One of their riders was Ole Olsen, a speedway legend apparently.
It was never my thing really but good memories though. |

I think it was a master stroke getting Schlotterbeck in.
A left footed centre back is rare in top flight football.

I agree.
When I was a kid, in football Bournemouth was always a poor man’s Southampton.
If we’d beaten AC Milan by 3 goals, we’d talk about it for years.
I never understood the animosity towards them. Especially as many Saints fans live in the area.
We have our hated rivals and it’s not them. Bournemouth is just a seaside town with half the shops closed in the centre of it.
I say fair play to them for coming this far. No matter what happens in the future, they’ll always have these memories [Post edited 23 Oct 12:34]

Jack Stephens had a good game today. We won despite playing more minutes with 10 men.

Leave Southampton and it can go wrong, very wrong.
There’s a long list of players who were brilliant for us , left and then were crap or hardly got a game with their new club. It’s either a curse or just karma… |
