Electric cars to be taxed per mile.
at 21:44 27 Nov 2025

My post wasn't an anti EV post or anything to do with the environmental benefits of EVs. I was merely pointing out that it was obvious that EVs were going to be taxed to make up for the lost revenue on fuel duty. EVs are good for local pollution issues but over the making of the vehicle and the mining for the battery metals etc and the way the various parts are then transported around the world make the whole low pollution spiel a bit dubious. Also pollution in general will only be better if we can get high polluting countries to meet the same pollution standards as us.

I don't get why people are surprised by this. No government could lose the sort of money they get from fuel duty and not replace it. EVs are significantly heavier compared to a similar sized combustion engine car so will increase wear on roads so that will also increase costs. It won't be long before there is little difference between an EV and petrol/diesel car in terms of taxation.

Applauding a quality opposition goal
at 08:29 16 Sep 2025

I remember a lot of QPR fans (myself included) applauding Les Ferdinand's goal on his (I think) first return to QPR with Newcastle. If I remember rightly there was a ball played through the middle and he out muscled Maddix and scored at the loft end. He just turned around and put his head down but looked surprised by the response he got from QPR fans.

Good news, glad to have him back. QPR are not giving Clive a rest on a bank holiday

I'd be happy to have one of our strikers get 11 by the end of the season

Agree that he is probably the closest in the squad to Macca but look at the quality of the opposition they both faced. Remember some epic battles Macca had with Mark Hughes and I think Mark Hughes said that Macca was the hardest player he ever played against. So, while Jimmy Dunne is good, he is not the same level as the great man.

It is easy for people on here to say that they wouldn't trade heading a ball for a few more years etc but I am looking after my father who has dementia and it is getting worse. It is absolutely heartbreaking to see someone you love decline to the point where they cannot find their way around the house and the look of fright on their face when they have a strong episode of forgetfulness. Not to mention that the people who love you will end up looking after you and believe me it is hard work both physically and mentally.

Agree with this but it won't happen as the Premier league will lose all the big clubs. Should do what Formula One did and introduce a spending cap for all teams regardless of how much money they have got. In F1 there were teams spending 300 million now they are limited to 135 million. F1 managed it so football can too.

QPR will get through that 8 billion in a couple of seasons and we will still be sh*t.

Think I've mentioned this one before but many years ago I was in the Hippodrome when they did a heavy metal night. Went to the gents for a lash and as I am standing there Dani Behr walks in in a tiny strappy dress and says 'Sorry but there's a long queue for the ladies' and she went in the stall behind me. She must have been desperate because she was in there ages

I agree with you to a point but....It is his first post as the top man. If he goes, there is no way he can demand loyalty from players in the future, also how can he ask players to buy into his ethos if he goes at the first sign of a better job. I won't hate him if he goes but I will lose some respect for him.

Manager v Head Coach
at 16:53 18 Jun 2022

I don't think that it is going to be any tougher for Beale than it was for MB. The title of his job is meaningless. The traditional manger role is dead in modern football. The days of a manager sorting out contracts, running the club are long gone.

Warburton gone?
at 17:32 3 Apr 2022

Hope this is not true. We have had countless managers over the years, chopping and changing at the drop of a hat. We finally get a manager who in the last few years has had to get rid of the deadwood and high earners and is now in a position to build a team. At the start of the season we would take where we are now with glee. Yes, the last couple of months has been a bit mystifying but lets face it we have exactly smashed other teams even when we were winning.
