After watching the opening 4 away games there is something missing from the whole setup this season.
We can talk about spygate, selling Charles and Harwood-Bellis as factors but with the squad we have I can only think the mentality of the players is not right.
Defensively we are brittle and will continue to leak goals until there is a change in personnel in my view.
However, as previous mentioned this is only part of the bigger picture. I sincerely hope matters away from St Mary’s improve otherwise it maybe a disappointing season

I mentioned previously my thoughts on Aaron Ramsdale in the “Verdict” article in regard to his inclusion and not exclude him. If the current no 1 goalkeeper performs fine but football is purely based on results and we will not thank the Manager if his loyalty costs us.
As regards to the ins and outs I would have preferred to have kept Archer as a totally different option.
JWP I really hope it works out. Dobbin again I would like it to work out but I have doubts he was worth £9/10 million jury out on this one as Jay Robinson looked a better option. |

I thought Saints were disjointed and it is clear our manager is a lucky boy. Which is no bad thing.
My worry is like many the owners seek players on the cheap and appear to be reluctant to pay strong money when necessary and this works sometimes but as we all know the failures outnumber the successes if you pay poor money.
It is a well known that you play your strongest team so ignoring Ramsdale because you made a commitment to another goalkeeper who is currently out of form is total nonsense.
TE you have a 25 million goalkeeper in the wings so get real.

All the previous contributors are regrettably right. Not many returning players work out well. You would probably have to go back to Mick Channon for a successful return.

Really good to get the win albeit without hitting any heights.
In my opinion a new centre back and a midfielder is required sooner rather than later.
My real concern however, is Scienza he really did not look up for this and looked very nervous in taking players on. I sincerely hope I’m wrong as an ineffective Scienza would make our chances of a successful season difficult |

I wrote on 12th May my disappointment in the allegation and now we have confirmation of our football club’s guilt.
The damage is hugely problematic and if Sports Republic handle matters poorly we could be facing dire consequences.
Lose of key players and complete lack of trust in the club from the strong supporter base will be the priority going forward, let alone the severe drop in finances.
I hate to see any individuals lose their livelihood but we all know their actions has cost our beloved club reputation for the foreseeable future. Darkest day in my 73 years of supporting Southampton Football Club. Shameful |

I wrote on 12th May my disappointment and betrayal of Southampton fans in the actions (now confirmed) of members of the coach staff.
We can expect departures that could devastate the squad so Mr SR over to you how you are going to sort this mess out!
My first game was in 1953 and over the years there have been many ups and downs but this is purely a self inflicted down.
All the hard work in turning the season round are now wasted. I said in my original comment that heads should roll and I don’t just mean the idiot behind the tree who was acting on instructions not acting alone!! |

Disappointment and total amazement at this issue. We had no need to act in this way (if true) there is a high level of betrayal to the wonderful fans if the sanction is more than a fine.
Beggars belief if we are thown out of payoffs or a points deduction.

I love ugly wins. In no time we will not remember the performance only the result.
Aziz, Peretz and Larin outstanding.
The question for us all do we believe this side could cut it in the premiership? When we consider our thoughts after the Preston result to how we now feel, the season now feels fairly successful add in the cup run.
Would SR do a Sunderland and buy in additional quality if we do get promoted I’m not sure. Anyway times are sweet and long may it continue |

Yes this was a bad day at the office but Larin all round game is ideal for the championship and in my mind he makes things happen. I like Steward but again in my view he does win enough in the air and has not the physical presence we need.
I thought this may be a banana skin and we got away with it.
Both Charles and Fellows form is worrying and the marmite man Aziz blows hot and cold and the WBA game was no acception. |

Throughly enjoyed the game. I’m not sure battered is the right phase as we had the best chances in the game.
I criticised Harwood Bellis at the start of the season but he really looks the real deal and the ownership need to pull out all the stops to keep him.
The goalkeeper is adding a confidence to the team that I have not seen for some seasons and he may not be the best but he is definitely an upgrade on previous keepers.
In Larin I think his holdup and link up play is again an upgrade on what has gone before and signing him on a permanent basis would be a step in the right direction.
All positives currently and long may it continue. |

Although we didn’t win the amount of action in the Charlton penalty area and 23 efforts on goal makes trips to St Mary’s more enjoyable.
I am inclined to agree with previous comments that you seem very focused on the current goalkeeper and a more balanced view for example the throw out in the second half that sent Scienza clean of the Charlton defence was outstanding.
If we are are to criticise I thought Aziz was poor we all know he will not get any medals for workrate his overall play as the creative player let a lot to be desired. |

Went to every game in 76 cup run drawing Bradford away in the 6th round was lucky, horrible trip in a mini bus with no heating plus police on horseback on the terraces after a stabbing! Yes this was 50 years ago but all worth the Jim McCalliog goal set up by Peter Osgood.
Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge with fond thoughts of their manager Malcom Allison and his big ferdora hat in the semi was also lucky as the other two in the semi finals were United and Derby both first division sides
Happy Days. Would be great for some of the younger fans to experience this but alas the FA Cup is not the competition it was but here’s hoping. |

All spot on comments. The manager got his selection wrong but to his credit he took off the 3 players that needed replacing especially Yander who was dreadful.
I seen many comebacks over the years but this was right up there.
I hope the manager sticks with a big man up front as we do not function as well with an Archer type no 9.
I have some sympathy for Archer but he appears to very low on confidence and probably needs a fresh start elsewhere |

Winning ugly is part of any season and I know we all love good performance but it’s 3 more points.
The defence is so much better without Wood and Manning and although not his greatest fan let us praise Stephens for another strong performance.
We all have opinions but not picking Wellington until recently beggars belief and really makes me wonder how the manager has continued to overlooked him or was there other factors that we are unaware of??
I also thought Endoze looked very sharp and could enhance our progress for the remainder of the season

This was so much better. A lot of strong performances Harwood Bellis, Downes, Yander, Aziz and Fellows. Special praise to Wellington who was my man of the match. Also a very strong performance from Stephens who like many is not top of pick list, as you have Nick one of his much better days and long may it continue,
The team seen to flow and although Stewart wasn’t great it was far better than recent outings. Does make you wonder what lurks in the dressing room and the absence of Armstrong. SR get that new striker in ASAP. Onwards and hopefully upwards. |

My gut feeling is Sports Repubic have spent money and are not prepared to risk any further investment.
Looks like they intend to limp through this nothing season with this below par underperforming group. Link with no one sums everything up and we are daft enough(including me) to endure this. |
