Stick a football shirt on the protestors you'd get a different response from the police
|Taking my Son to his first game tomorrow|
at 10:16 17 Sep 2021
Main thing to know is that they will likely get bored at some stage, don’t feel bad they will have days going where they don’t like it and moan at you but stick with it the good will outweigh the bad
Also don’t be concerned if you have to give them a device to play with, a magazine etc, 90 minutes is a bloody long time for a 4 year old to sit and watch a football match. I took mine at 3 without any of those things and learnt the hard way. I used to worry what people thought when my son would play on my phone for a bit in the first half but quickly learnt not to give a shit what other people thought and just knew what was best for my kid for him to enjoy the day out.
Will probably need a fair few toilet breaks and bring snacks as that keeps them happy usually. If you are in the lower loft I found that chips from the chips van usually keep the kid happy for at least 15 minutes, that still works now and he’s 12. They have very little on the concourse, usually just crisps and bars of chocolate.
The noise as well can be too much for young ones, my son was terrified by the shouting at first, every goal was met with tears now he’s the one shouting and screaming and scarring the little ones. The noise cancelling headphone you can get might be worth it if thats something that usually bothers your kid. I've seen a few kids with those on at games this season as it's been a lot louder than in previous years in recent weeks.
I’d recommend the fanzone before the game at the Playfootball pitches on South Africa Road. Loads of activities for kids, can get pictures with Jude the cat usually and makes the day a bit more special for them.
They do have a room in the lower loft for kids as well although not sure if it is open with covid rules. It did have things like table football, colouring and computer games but not been in there for a few years. If they still do them get a Spark Bingo Card, you tick off everything you see so corner, throw in, offside, goal, good save, sub etc. That used to be quite good when mine was younger
Good luck and enjoy it
|A few thoughts on last night|

I thought he was excellent when he came on against Middlesbrough and did well against Barnsley as well in the second half. I don't think he's good enough to be first choice yet and personally think he's better as a centre half in a 3, but he's a more than adequate back up for when Moses is unavailable.
The other night he just had a poor game, i didn't think he did much right but that happens we've seen he can play a lot better than that.

I don't think there is much more to it than Kakay had a poor game and was up against better players than him. It's not a disaster, he'll comeback and have better games for us this season

They shouldn't have any say in the matter but thats been the way with all FFP cases. We spent over 3 years having our say and were only punished after we agreed to a settlement

Steve Cooper is the obvious choice and the favourite.
I was sure Hughton would sort them out, been such a good manager over the years but that club look a real mess

The first goal although Dickie is gonna cop the blame and it was a bad mistake but it did come from something we do too often at the moment especially in the first half of games. We had a throw in about half way into their half, pushed players forward and rather than try and get a cross into the box or work the ball down the line we went safety first and the ball was back with Deing within 3 passes, with the midfield high up the pitch that left us wide open to a high press from Bournemouth which they did really well. That's happened a few times this season against Coventry and Barnsley without us being punished.
I don't mind when we go backwards to keep the ball moving and try and create angles and space to get forward but do think we need to show a bit more urgency going forward in the first half of games and try and take a few more risks in the oppositions half.

I think whoever starts up front has a tough task. Dykes and Austin have both struggled in the first hour of games and whoever is up front the last half an hour tends to do well.
Should say in defence of Austin he posted on instagram yesterday that his Nan had died and how hard the last few weeks had been for him
at 17:56 15 Sep 2021
I'm sure he booked Billing twice as well although it was hard to work out who is was booking at times as he just waved his card in the general direction of 4/5 players

I think the second one was trying to stop fans from getting to her, one QPR fan shoved her which was when he came in and moved her away

Despite the result a marvelous away day in the sunshine.
My sister lives down in Bournemouth (right next to the ground until recently) so we know the area well and had a nice few drinks in a beer garden all afternoon.
Quite bizarre trying to get into the ground with metal scanners, long queues and several security checks, not sure what they were expecting. We got to the ground about 720 and only just made kick off
Team started really well dominating the game but that daft Dickie mistake changed the game in their favour, personally though Deing should have come out and made it more difficult for Anthony.
Second goal was really poor defending. Kakay had been dragged out of position and was in midfield so the defence were all shifting over to cover and that opened up as space. You could see the goal coming
That said Bournemouth were quite impressive at times, good when pressing and some real pace and power in the team as well as being a nasty team to play against. They should have scored at least 2 more before we got one back
Not sure if it came across on tv but first half a ball boy refused to throw the ball back to one of our players, not sure if they were doing a Warnock (it was quite early in the game so seemed odd) or if the bloke just couldn’t be arsed but to the stewards credit they moved him away to a different part of the pitch.
One thing I’ve noticed all season in the first half is despite controlling games and getting in good positions we create nothing so the lone striker tends to get a lot of stick, Dykes turn last night feeding off scraps and getting criticised similar to Austin in recent games..
We are also still a very nice team allowing them to run with the ball at us with no tackle whilst they were very quick to make foul and stop momentum. Bournemouth were a noticeably better side than anyone we’ve played so far, that step up was a bit too much for some of our players. I thought Kakay and Ball in particular really struggled at times.
The atmosphere even at 2-0 was still really good although I thought some fans got a bit too obsessed with Gary Cahill second half.
We seemed to make a few small tactical changes second half with Johansson playing deeper and that worked well, he was able to get the ball off the back 3 and get us forward a lot quicker. Adomah coming on gave us a good threat going forward, was a shame Austin was unavailable, think he’d have been a good option off the bench
I thought we played some really good stuff in the last half an hour, really unlucky not to equalise, if that bloody Smurf has actually added on injury time for the time wasting we might have got level, even at the end as Ball was about to put a cross in he blew up, couldn’t bloody wait. I can’t stand Stroud, he was crap all game in fairness to both sides rather than being biased just incompetent.
At the end the fans gave the team a great ovation, I think the general feeling was of pride for how hard they fought for the club last night, we can improve and I do feel a bit more confident about our chances after last night despite the defeat. Bournemouth looked a good side especially the left back going forward.
Bit of a daft incident at the end when a kid ran on the pitch to get Alberts shirt, stewards made a gap to let him get back to his Dad and a female steward grabbed him and started dragging him away, was really over the top and caused QPR fans to grab the kid and pull him away from her causing almighty rows and anger between the police & stewards. Have to say the police did well to move her away from the situation and try and calm people down but was really piss poor and unnecessary,
We ended up heading back to the hotel for a few drinks before finding the bar shut at 10, made our way to a different hotel where after ordering a few at last orders they ended up hoovering around our table with some no so subtle hints we should leave. Upon arriving back at our hotel the bloody doors were locked but luckily a few people were drinking cans in the bar and let us in. There was probably a button to press to let us in but was too pissed to find it.
The morning/afternoon after I'm feeling quite positive about the team, lots we can and have to improve on but there is so much to like about this team

I left West Brom early a few years back, 6-1 was enough for me only to find out it was 7 by the time we got to the station

That late tackle on Chair at the weekend looked a nasty one, I don't think he'll be involved tonight so will either be 2 up front or Thomas starting imo

Bournemouth should beat us but will be good to see where we are as a team as this will be the strongest team we've played so far.
Key for me is staying in the game, if we can get to an hour either in front or level I fancy us to beat them with an Austin, Adomah or Gray coming off the bench

f*ck me I was looking forward to tomorrow as well
