They shouldn't close any of the stands. It puts thousands of people off attending and ruins the atmosphere. The little money they save on having fewer stewards is less than the amount they lose because of the reduced attendance. But, closing one of the sides is even worse than closing an end because most fans want value for money, and so being forced into what are usually the cheaper seats does not have so much appeal. |

With their high ticket prices and the closure of the Kingsland Stand, the Club is discouraging thousands of fans from attending this game. Even with their higher prices, they will lose money because of the smaller crowd and reduction in sales of food, drink and merchandise. Whoever is responsible for making these poor decisions should be replaced by someone with a better understanding of the fans.
For comparison, West Ham charged £10 for adults, £1 for children, opened all 4 stands and were rewarded with a capacity crowd, a great atmosphere and a victory over Pompey. |

It was on the shirt in the early years, although it was a bit random. If you look at old team photos from the end of the 19th century, you'll see that some of the players wore it and some didn't. It probably depended on whether they had someone to sew it on for them.

The current badge with the tree was the winner of a competition. The change was unpopular at the time, as changes to traditional badges usually are, but fans weren't allowed to vote. |

That headline is not fair on Ross Stewart. He's a professional footballer, who has never earned very big wages, and his agent is trying to get him more money before he retires. With his injury record, he might not have many more playing days left. Then he has another 50 years or so to support himself and his family.
I wish him well and hope he stays, but that article might make his mind up to leave. |

I should imagine that all of the players and coaching staff have left Staplewood by now, and the tidier ones would have cleared up before they left. It's their summer holiday. They won't be back until the pre-season starts. I'm looking forward to the pre-season fixtures. We usually get a good European team at St Mary's. Then, after that, hopefully, Tonda will lead us to our first ever Championship title: the one advantage of not going up via the play-offs this season. |

It has even been suggested that the person on the "Independent" Commission who first proposed that Southampton should be expelled form the play-off final, thus enabling Middlesbrough to take their place, had once played for Middlesbrough! That certainly needs looking into. |
