The ospreys new ground?
at 14:48 15 Jun 2024

It’s not a subsidy from the WRU it’s payment for the services provided. The WRU should back date this payment for the covid years when they were the only home Union to lumber their pro teams with a covid related loan due to incompetence

As I said, they’re following the same model as Glasgow, Edinburgh and Benetton. The plan is build an appropriate size stadium to build an atmosphere, which it’s lacking at the .com. As we know with regional rugby, you’ll never please everyone, but at least they’re trying to innovate

The route of the problem is mismanagement at the WRU level and that trickling down to all elements of rugby. For too long committee men were left to run a £100m business when they were clearly out of their depth. I’m yet to be convinced those they have brought in are the right people to turn the ship around at that level, but to be fair to the Os, they have a good coach, a good pathway manager with Ruddock and a seemingly decent new CEO.

Yes the regions need to do more to drive interest, but they can’t be blamed for wanting to try an alternative with a new stadium. The idea is to follow the Edinburgh and Benetton model. Build a flexible capacity ground, probably around 6k capacity to begin with, build an atmosphere and try to pick up numbers. The real money maker for the Os will be the conferencing and wedding business, half of which I’m not sure will take away from the .com.

Yes, beat them for stagnation/decline over the last decade, but you can’t knock them for trying to establish themselves now. There’s a comment about the rugby served up. They’ve developed their playing style and it still is developing. They will always be a forwards dominated team, but have added touches of class out the back. They bucked the trend by getting to a quarter final in the cup and into the playoffs. Should they be happy with that, no, but it’s a solid base to build on.

As for the Swans, as most people have rightly said, it’ll be an albatross off their back. The ground staff have to be commended for the work they do, but less rugby on the pitch will benefit the swans in that sense too.

There’s a place in Swansea for both teams, and the city should be working to promote both for the better of the community.

He’s got that false 9, dare I say Michu quality of finding pockets of space. Surely worth a punt?

A few rumours of Will Evans from Newport county signing on. Good form this season in front of goal and a versatile player.

Also, rumours of Whittaker to Brentford meaning we benefit from a 25% sell on fee

Swans linked to Stoke City defender
at 06:42 26 Aug 2023

A similar age profile but seemingly a cheaper option would be Derry Murkin. Plays for Volendam in Netherlands. Can play all up the left hand side. 1.83m so could add some more physicality to the side like Duff wants

All the best Piroe hope we get more 7m plus add ons.

Doubt we’ll spend to replace, but if our owners get a rush of blood to the head, we could look at Dylan Vente from Roda in the Netherlands. Was in the PSV academy too with a strong season just gone. He’s got a year left on his contract so there may be scope around the £1-1.5m mark. Decent height at 1.81m with a decent amount of headed goals too

Nathan Boradhead May be an interesting option 13 goals for Sunderland last year and only a year left on his Everton contract. Coming up to 24 so may be looking to move on from Everton

Whilst this is a crazy price, the transfer has 2 effects. Wood will get a few goals for a goal shy Newcastle, but weaken a direct rival in a goal shy Burnley. Don’t think Piroe is a Dyche kind of player but fingers crossed he doesn’t go for him. Can see Keiffer Moore going there though
