Interesting point Stainrod. Is it, at least partly, that the Scandinavians (and other 'minorities') know that they have to learn English to get on in the world and in this country, for years, we have been teaching our children that good use of English does not actually matter very much? |

I could not believe the time and space that we won in midfield. Not sure if it was Marti's tactics or a failing on the part of Leeds United, but if it was a result of planning, then we ought to download it into the QPR memory bank for next season. |

Great summing up, Clive. Cannot help but think back to that win over Leeds in April 1976. A win was essential for Rangers to maintain the title challenge. I was standing at the Loftus Road end, with a friend who is a Sheffield Wednesday fan who, of course, disliked Leeds. I remember the lovely goal that Stan Bowles scored at the Loftus Road end. So I saw it? Well, not exactly. I saw him coming towards us and the noise left no one in any doubt about what had happened but, no, I didn't see the ball cross the line - too many heads and shoulders in the way. But, the atmosphere was wonderful - I hope that it is tonight. Another 2-0 is too much to hope for, but 1-0 would do very nicely. |

I have enjoyed reading the praise on this board for the players who finally turned the season round. They deserve it. What they did not deserve is the abuse, for weeks on end, that many of them received earlier in the season - in fact, not that long ago. If you do not believe this, or, have forgotten, go back to some of the threads on here. The players must read this stuff and when they do, only the brightest and strongest will brush it off. Does it matter? Probably - it gives the manager even more to do between matches. It is, no doubt, too much to ask but, in future, perhaps we could be more measured in our comments when things are not going well? [Post edited 21 Apr 9:49]

Would you envisage Horace Batchelor being investigated later for being involved in betting, whilst a player, Ted? (I presume that is the 'Horace Batchelor, Department Two, Keynsham, Bristol.') |

Lyndon Dykes does not score goals; Sinclair Armstrong falls over too often and complains to the ref; Paul Smyth misses sitters; Asmir Begovic is apt to flap; Chris Willock blows hot and cold; Ilias Chair keeps the ball too long and Taylor Richards... who is he? But, there is only one thing to be focused on this week and that is how to beat Preston North End on Saturday evening. Come on you Rs!!!!! |

I should also have mentioned Kevin Phillips, Burnley. One season he was the PL top scorer and his career figures were 282 goals in 660 appearances. Kevin Phillips is 5'7". |

The Sachertorte at the cafe famous for it was nowhere near as exciting as we thought it would be. The Spanish Riding School was wonderful. |

When the time comes to re-assess our strike force, I hope that the club will not look simply for a big lad who puts himself about and gets headers in. Take a look at who has scored lots of goals in the Premier League over the years and you will find that plenty of shorter characters have made their mark. Think Jermaine Defoe, Michael Owen, Sergio Aguero, Robbie Keane etc. Somewhere in the lower leagues, or languishing on the fringes of Premier League squads, are players who have the instinct that has been missing from our team this season. |

You are on to something there, Toast. If the Championship movie does not come to fruition, have another glass and keep thinking. You could make a small fortune. [Post edited 12 Apr 9:57]

I have not read all 17 pages of comments, but has anyone said how well Chris Willock played when he came on? He looked fresh and ready to run at people. Yes, there was an over-ambitious long-range shot but I thought he looked good. |

Over the decades, we have been blessed with many good keepers. Our current one is far from the best, but neither is he as bad as he is being depicted. Stay calm. |
