What's basically happening here is that the entire structure is being held to ransom by a handful of billionaire foreign owners, who are cynically using Covid as an opportunity to scatter the chicken feed.

Parry is the middle man, and as such has been involved in a massive conflict of interest - these discussions predated his 'stewardship' of the EFL.

I don't know if anyone else has seen details, but the power these guys are going to wield over everyone else is breathtaking.

My guess is that this is the calculated opening gambit in a massive power struggle. If you're a championship club with any ambition at all you can not go along with this. I'd be very interested to hear the view from our boardroom.... since we don't basically do ambition, I fear the worst.

QPR take FFP medicine, so when will things get better? Column

This outcome was accurately predicted yesterday in a thread on here, based on publically available information.

Anyone know why it was removed? Is censorship a thing on here?

Just a fan who likes the occasional punt.

I've been critical of many of TF's appointments over the years, and not in hindsight. He just seemed horribly vulnerable in shark infested waters. Kia J had his pants down, but he was not the first: Bernie stitched him up like a kipper re Caterham. There were other major decisions which were just completely baffling.

However, I admire Uncle's honesty in admitting his shortcomings, and he may be about to get a major call spot on. Which is reason enough to post in itself!

I tried to get on before Ollie was sacked. Spoke to P.Power, S.Index and Betfair. Not only would they not lay any odds on any QPR manager market, no one had formed a market relating to any of it. I was told that this was because it was the type of market vulnerable to insider trading, no dice. That seemed significant because they aren't normally so shy of next manager markets.

The whole Ollie out, SMac in story went public on WATRB before the end of the season. They got there first, before any media outlet or any 'privileged' individuals and I think events will prove that this info was spot on. The same source added that SMac was fronting - not heading - a consortium, and we have yet to see how accurate that bit turns out to be.

For several months there had been speculation on WATRB about the mechanics of a take over, ie was it actually feasible given the many complicating factors. Ruben's acquisition of the majority holding (and the serious interest he is recouping) also seemed to indicate that sands were shifting. It was not too long after that that the Ollie / SMac thing kicked in.

That's pretty much the back story from here. At least this time round the decision making process feels more considered, whatever the outcome.

We don't know when negotiations kicked off but my money is on prior to the Leeds game, and by some distance, looking at what Ollie and Uncle both said within hours of the final whistle. The fact that Ollie went so soon after that fixture aslo suggests that this thing has been on the burner for some time.

The debt question (plus QPR Holdings, the estate and FFP) are almost certainly why this whole thing is going to take a while to get over the line. Said elsewhere this wouldn't be quick.

Re the other post, I'd offer very decent odds that SMac wont be going to Goodison irrespective of what happens at LR.

Update. SSN now reporting by end of week. Delay just adds to suspicion that this is more than just a change of manager.

Re the Ollie sacking - it all depends on what was on the table. Or maybe the board were thinking of getting rid anyway.

Either way the original hypothesis is looking more and more likely to be behind the delay.

Could be that SMac himself helped bring them together.......

England Squad

Decent squad. Southgates main problem has always been lack of width in the final third, this dates back to Villa days. May explain why he's covered himself in that department. Welbeck is such a confidence player that he's always gonna be a punt. Otherwise tidy looking piece of paper.

Why not?

You just say right, we're putting this on the table but one pre-condition. Ollie goes, your problem, you sort the pay off.

If they have their own man (SMac) it makes absolute sense to me.

No, because in the consortium scenario the Ollie thing is just the prequel. Real negotiations start with QPR Holdings etc = lots to negotiate, %s etc.

All of this assumes the consortium scenario as fact, we don't know that, but the longer it goes on the more likely that becomes. In which case Ollie / SMac becomes back seat stuff.

Pre condition. They hired him, they can sort out the gold watch. Start with clean slate and their own man.

The WATRB source has been solid so far. Got the Ollie bit, got the SMac bit, on the consortium front we'll know soon enough (I have doubts, because there is a fair bit of uncertainty on the property portfolio plans and of course dear old FFP).

Re D Mc. This was the man who told us recently that Ollie was definitely seeing out next term.....

The WATRB source who was first off the blocks by a distance on Ollie's demise and SMac incoming, has consistently said that the latter is fronting a consortium with a view to a possible take over, and that discussions have already been going on for several weeks. If this is true - and some of Uncle's public musings suggest more than run of the mill changes are in progress - it would explain the delay.

One other thing re previous posts. Rowett and Moyes? Jesus, has anyone one here actually watched WHU or Derby recently? Both have always been massively over rated imo.Whatever his shortcomings - and he does have them - I'd take Mac every hour of the day over either of those.

Encouraging sign of sanity finally prevailing.

A lot of the Ollie support is based on sentiment. But the form book begs to differ. By the end of the season, the table pretty much call it like it is. His overall form here and down the Wall was wanting. In the end, mangers live or die by results. Always have.

There are plenty of realistic candidates, but the man who seems divorced from reality is TF.

Sobering thought that the Tango & Cash were more productive for the club when measured by any objective standard. PPM / £s spent ratio under Uncle is catastrophic. But boom and bust is not the answer, as any economist could have told him. You have to find a median.

He needs to invest in management sensibly, and be prepared to offer the incumbent the chance to sort out the shambles without interference. The current squad is capable of mid table with a degree of comfort given a gaffer who picks to strengths,. That has been one of Ollie's manifest failings.
