York City Football Club can confirm that Stuart Maynard will be leaving his role as First Team Manager, with immediate effect.
This has not been an easy decision, and it is not one the board has taken lightly. Ultimately, it comes down to a difference in direction and vision for the football club.
We recognise that, from the outside, this may look like a strange or difficult decision to understand. But we believe that in the long term, the football club will be in a stronger position because of it, another step towards the vision we, as custodians of this club, believe will deliver sustained success.
Like every one of you, we love this football club, and we would never make a decision we didn’t believe was in its best long-term interests. We hope our track record of improving year on year has earned us a degree of trust, and we understand that not everyone will agree with, or fully understand, this decision right away.
We would like to thank Stuart for his contribution to York City FC and wish him well for the future.
I wonder if he'll bring any of South Shields star players along with him. Striker Paul Blackett has a very impessive goal scoring record for South Shields in the last 3 seasons.

In Jim's post match interview against Braintree he described it as a generational game and as big as it gets. Whereas in Maynard's post match agaisnt Yeovil he was trying to downplay the occasion saying it's just any other game, we prepare exactly the same. An interesting contrast and let's see which approach works
Over the last week I’ve listened to the Forest Green home game on BBC radio Gloucestershire, I’ve listened to the Yeovil away game on BBC radio Somerset and listened to the Scunthorpe home game on BBC radio Humberside.
I’d always assumed it was standard practice for local BBC stations to just stop covering teams once they drop into non league but it seems like it’s just a radio Manchester thing. Local radio is supposed to serve local listeners and I see no reason why they should stop covering a side just because they drop into non league.
You can guarantee that a few seasons ago had Bolton been relegated into the national league when they were going through their financial troubles there’s no chance they would’ve stopped covering them. I’d love to know what the reasoning is behind dropping a teams coverage just because they drop out of the EFL
He's in the starting 11 for Tanzania against Nigeria, half 5 kick off. The game is free to watch in the UK, either on Channel 4's streaming website or the tv channel 4Seven. From the previews I read he was expected to be starting on the bench but I believe he scored in Tanzania's last friendly so he's been rewarded with a start. Let's see how he gets on

There's rumours flying around that Palace have offered Watford £8 million for Baah. According to the Watford Observer back in 2021 when Watford signed him we were given a compensation package of around £100,000 with a sell on clause also agreed. Baah signed a five year deal with Watford back in October 2024 so it seems inevitable he'll move for decent money at some point. Depending on how much of a sell on clause we've got it could be a welcome boost to the budget when he does move
Injuries, Fylde fans saying he's a good player but struggles to stay fit. Carlisle have announced the signing of striker Regan Linney from Altrincham, 23 goals in the National League last season. Carlisle clearly mean business
I watched Fylde vs York a few weeks ago where Fylde parked 11 men behind the ball but they couldn't live with York's interplay and movement off the ball. York carved them open and won 3-1 but sadly I saw none of that yesterday
All of our sub 2,000 attendances this season have been on Tuesday nights. Yesterday was our first Saturday 3pm kick-off to dip below 2,000 since we dropped into non-league and I don't think it's a coincidence that it came off the back of that dreadful performance last weekend
Only other factor is Hornets played there on Sunday afternoon. I don't think that did the pitch any favours especially the area of the pitch that was of concern to the ref tonight
