Baseball - Pitchers - Nolan Ryan - Most career strikeouts (5,714), most career no hitters (7; the next closest has two), most single-season strikeouts (373), lowest batting average against (.204 lifetime opponent batting average), strikeout longevity (15 seasons with 200+ strikeouts & 6 seasons with 300+ strikeouts; most career 1-hitters (12), 2-hitters (18), & 3-hitters (31). Probably all of Ryan's records will never be equaled or bettered.
Baseball - Batters (offensive stats) - Hank Aaron - Total bases (6,856), Runs Batted In (2,297), Extra-base hits (1,477), Home Runs - officially, Aaron ranks 2nd (755) but there are HUGE question marks regarding Barry Bonds rank as #1 (762) due to his known use of steroids. Aaron also ranks 3rd in hits (3,771); Pete Rose #1 (4,256) , Ty Cobb #2 (4,191)
Basketball - Michael Jordan, Larry Bird (sorry, LeBron. MJ is still the king with Bird 2nd). Other notables: LeBron James, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Jerry West.
American Football - Tom Brady is the G.O.A.T. for certain. No one comes close to what he's accomplished, especially noteworthy in winning Super Bowls (7) and Super Bowl MVP's (5). His NFL list of 1st's (8) is too long to post here.
Golf - The toughest sport to choose an absolute G.O.A.T. Jack Nicklaus has the most Majors (18), w/Tiger Woods 2nd (15), Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead (Tiger Woods is tied with Snead for most career victories w/82), Arnold Palmer, Walter Hagen, Gary Player. I think Scottie Scheffler (only 30 yrs old) will be included in this group when his career is over. I especially admire Senior Golfer Bernhard Langer, who blossomed after turning 50 yrs old. He's won 47 times on the Senior Champions Tour, with 12 majors!! Golf is my favorite sport; it boils down to just you in golf, with no one else to blame.
Tennis - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Djokovic holds the most Grand Slam titles (24).
Soccer - Pele, Messi, Ronaldo are the easy picks. But I'm always intrigued by the yesteryear standouts of the Premier League like Dwight Yorke, George Best, Thierry Henry, & Alan Shearer. Harry Kane will be one of those when he retires even though he's finishing up his career in the Bundesliga. The top offensive players will always grab the headlines and accolades.

Sorry, I didn't see your reply. Yes, it's a tough start, made a lot harder with the loss of Burgess long term and Franco until September. I was of the opinion that a tough start was ideal, as the club seemed to be on a high as recently as last Friday. By Saturday, the air was coming out of the balloon at a rate of knots. The honeymoon period for Matos is now over, so we may get to see a real test of his ability. A gentle first 4 games before a brutal 3 game bounce against promotion contenders. Momentum is going to be vital.

I agree with your view. Maybe 10 points from the 1st 4 games could generate that mo' you mention is really needed. I saw lots of positives from last Sat's 1st half. Convert most of the wasted opps and Swans would be playing @ home against Brentford.
I still have high hopes that our new additions will really make a difference and assist us in making the playoffs, or better. Vip needs to start getting up to last season's production level if we're to have any chance. It will be really interesting if Idah, Stewart, or one or more of the newbies can contribute. I remain positive and hopeful.
And Whiterockin replied to my prediction of 10 points from 1st 4 games also on Aug 13:
Three wins and a draw in the first four games is a really tough ask. Undefeated would be excellent but still a tough ask in the Championship. We can but hope.

I think I remember Keith saying that his paperwork has been approved and that he was available for the Southampton game.
BTW, Eom scored a hat trick in S. Korea's U-23 game vs. Qatar in the U-23 Asian Games. S. Korea plays Saudi Arabia next on the 22nd of Sept. [Post edited 19 Sep 18:42]

Your reference to your use of the word "historically" is not referring to the 1st part of your statement:
"....and historically is not seen a be a country full of immigrants". As I reported, the UK has more immigrants per capita than the US.
Also, you still haven't answered my question: "Are you saying that if you oppose, if you're against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, then you're a racist?
Or, we can turn it around so that everyone understands your earlier post: "I'm for ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, and anyone who opposes ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION is a RACIST". Correct?

Your retort here, "I said, 'historically', Britain is thousands of years old.", doesn't match up to what you really said, which is, "The USA is said to be only 250 years old and is said to be a country full of immigrants, Brirain is thousands of years old and historically is not seen a be a country full of immigrants". By the way, Great Britain is recognized as a country full of immigrants due to their colonial ventures, especially in South Asia, Middle East, and Africa. Most are LEGAL IMMIGRANTS; however, more ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are being allowed to come into your country.

Then, what's with your earlier post,

As I stated previously, LEGAL IMMIGRANTS don't want ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS to be allowed to come into their country. What they're saying is, "If I can immigrate legally, then so can you!". Where is the racism in that?

Umm... Let's look at what you're claiming: Immigrants, in a lot of cases, who enter a country legally can be the most racist because they don't want more immigrants let in the country, legally or illegally?
That's not correct, at least not here in the US. LEGAL immigrants are proud that they entered the US LEGALLY. They, like President Trump, welcome all immigrants who enter the US LEGALLY. They and Pres Trump don't want immigrants to enter (happy to lift the drawbridge up) the US ILLEGALLY. There's no racism in keeping ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS from entering the US ILLEGALLY.
We want to keep the US SAFE from bad immigrants who might commit crimes against LEGAL CITIZENS and LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. LEGAL IMMIGRATION is also good for the US economy, in that LEGAL IMMIGRANTS, more often than not, don't need government assistance, contribute to the economy by being gainfully employed and paying taxes, have learned to speak English, and are more apt to obey OUR EXISTING US LAWS and not continue with their laws and customs. LEGAL IMMIGRANTS are more apt to assimilate into the US population. LEGAL IMMIGRATION has nothing to do with RACISM.

Well, on this play the asst ref was where he should have been, which was in line with the last Swans' field player (Cabango). Look at the 6:51 time mark of the Extended Highlights. For the overall game, I think the center ref was more hapless than the either of his assistants. Too much of an imbalance in his called fouls. |

WR, I looked at it again (see the Extended Highlights at the 6:51 mark) and saw that the ref was in line with the play. You can see him standing in the light green portion of the field and is definitely in line with Cabango. However, Cabango was not on the same high line with Lissah, Welsh, and Tymon who all 3 are standing the dark green portion of the field. At the 6:51 of the Extended Highlights, you don't see where Ramazani is in relationship with Ben's line.
Maybe a communication problem with Cabango and his back line mates? |

When it happened on Saturday, there wasn't a good angle to see and replays didn't show anything definitive either (whether offside or not). Lissah appeared to be playing a high line with Cabango on his quarter.
The most telling indication that either the player was offside or Cabango was keeping Ramazani onside was where the asst ref was positioned. The asst ref appeared to be out of position to make the call, imo. The asst ref appeared to be more in line with Welsh who was more aligned with Lissah's line than Cabango's. I've posed this question before, "Could Ronald be an option as a right back?". If Key is going to be questionable due to his hamstring issue, then why not get him to learn the art of being a right fullback? With his work rate and being more of a wingback than an out and out winger, I would think RB might be a position worth exploring. |

I would love to see Monga succeed at Swansea. However, with so much talk and hype about him, sometimes we fans put too much pressure on youngsters and they end up not meeting our expectations. |
