I agree. For the first time in a long while, we have a number of players capable of really chipping in on the goal tally. I also take your point about Stamenic earlier in the thread. I would love to see him driving forward and getting a shot away on a regular basis. He all the attributes needed.
I totally agree. The question we should ask is not what the political party of the left or right might do, but what is best for the majority of people in the country. Like in all walks of life, extremism is the problem.
Sensible capitalism and sensible socialism (I don't think any form of communism is sensible) should be the way forward. They can exist together if not taken to the extreme. I've seen great examples of capitalism in some sectors where the market really does drive down cost and improve service and I've also seen excellent models of socialism where the state is heavily involved in the provided service or production of goods. The best union model I saw was in a private French company where the union rep was a board member and everyone had a vested interest in the long term success of the company, not just quarterly profits for the shareholders.
The problem we have here is that we lurch from one extreme to the other every 5, 10 or 15 years with FPTP. Perhaps PR is the way forward where the extremes would be negated? I don't know the answers but I do know that whatever your political persuasion, things have been pretty crap for ordinary people in this country for a very long time.

Back to your point, I don't think right wing are buggers. My friends, family and colleagues come from all over the political spectrum. I don't like using the terms right/left wing because I think people should think as indviduals first, not follow a line because their political belief dictates that they should. I only tend to use those terms in response to them being used first. I wouldn't class myself as particularly left wing. I have a set of values borne out of my working class roots from which I tend to see the world including equaity and fairness.
Let's be honest, you, and one or two others, don't like it because I sometimes try to challenge the prevailing narrative on here or offer a different opinion based on facts not rhetoric.
Just on immigration, net immigration down, boat crossings down, asylum hotel use down, increased action against people smugglers, tighter controls on legal immigration, improved co-operation with European partners, implementaion of visa restrictions. By any objective measure she has been more successful that any recent Home Secretary, certainly more effective than Braverman and Jenrick (as immigration minister). The problem is not many people are objective.

The phrase ‘use all necessary powers’ is a pretty standard phrase used by politicians in these sorts of situations. Do you think austerity was a good idea? We're still trying to recover from it. It was an ideological decision not an economic necessity despite the narrative from Cameron and Osborne. There was also a huge political cost to Nick Clegg personally and the Lib Dems collectively as a result of them being in coalition at the time and the decisions they were part of.
Jumping on? The other morning was the first time he's faced the media since the 'gift' was uncovered and he had an absolute nightmare. Not least because of the fact that he gets stroppy at the first hint of any kind of scrutiny. Nick Robinson did a good job of questioning Farage's stance on crypto after his £5 mil bung. He's pretty much got away with it compared to the grief Starmer got for some glasses and suits. Ben Habib's accusations about Farage and Johnson have also been ignored by the right wing press and media.
