So ..... team for Saturday ?
at 23:09 26 Feb 2026

I'd be tempted to start Morgan, varane and Hayden to try and stodge it up a bit

Why do we keep conceding within 10 minutes of half time?
at 23:30 24 Feb 2026

Weirdly I didn't think we played badly in the first half, but a terrible goal to concede on half time. Varane needed to come on for Madsen,. Second half we needed to be a bit defensive for the first 15 minutes but we kept galavanting upfield ( admittedly to no effect), leaving ourselves wide open at the back. Why go chasing the game so early. Sub wise we still needed to stodge up the midfield if only to stem the bleeding

Mr Kone

I like kone, don't really want to hear too much against him. He's played so many games this season, and keeps going. It was said about Karl Henry that he wasn't the best, but at least he was available. This guy is decent, way better than we've had for years, is young and keeps turning up. Top bloke to me

The centre back just bathed him to the ground, then dunne got pulled up for a tiny foul afterwards. The ref then gave us a soft foul to make up, but it's poor reffing

Don't be Addicks - Charlton Athletic vs QPR Match Thread
at 17:45 6 Feb 2026

I'm going tonight, a rare away game for me. Although I'm sitting with a couple of Charlton supporting friends, and staying at one of theirs in Sidcup afterwards. Id obviously love us to win, but I fear another drop off following a great win last week.
Either way I'm having a few drinks and a good evening hopefully!

Marti gone...
at 18:01 25 Jan 2026

I think, paraphrasing Clive, marti basically parred the course. And in our position that's not bad. Stephan may just par the course, or potentially so a bit better. Holloway basically parred the course too in his second spell and got sacked. I think marti is a competent manager but nothing special

We clearly need to be fitter. But we are where we are for the moment so why are we going at it like a bull in a china shop then blowing out our arse after an hour. Better to pace ourselves and slow it down a bit, build it up second half . George Graham sides used to pace themselves, often being nil nil at half time then pick them off second half. Possibly because they had a few alcoholics, but they still won the league

Sounds like we had the chances to wrap it up 3-1. But we didn't and pretty sickening not to even get a point. When you win, you're not as good as you think you are, when you lose not as bad.

Watching sky sports news earlier the preston forward got sent off for a quality head butt on a hull player. This to follow up a previous ban for biting, and another for racist abuse. He sounds like a real charmer!

St Oke Methodist Church Away Match Fred
at 22:41 17 Jan 2026

I think that was Alan Durban, the stoke manager in the late 70s. He set up with a 5-4-1, and had everyone behind the ball and in the press conference got annoyed and said that.
I don't think football has got less entertaining over the years, was always the way that the away side would set up for a point, especially in the 2 point for a win era

I wasn't there, and don't go to many away games. I can see the point of view that we could have gone for it more, risked it for a win, or just been better to steamroll it in the first place.
But, in reality a nil nil away is a decent result. I thought we'd lose by 2 or 3 goals today. You have to grind it out sometimes, all the top teams over the years do. I was a bit worried after a decent effort at west ham it wasn't going to be matched today.

I agree. I know it's the internet, modern way, message board etc. But early in the season there were comments on here saying he's the new Ferdinand and lavishing praise on him. Now there's loads of comments saying he's not up to it. Like with many things the truth is somewhere in the middle. It is a shame burrell is out for a while, as kolli is starting to look good we could have three actual strikers in the match day squad who are decent.

I would agree that Rehan would have been a better pick than jacks. But moving forward you do need the spinner to be able to do a containing role. If stokes isn't fit though, maybe Rehan could bat at 6. I don't think he could be the one spinner in a four man attack though

Frey on the move?

I quite liked him in previous seasons, but even with the injuries I don't think we do. He just looked so far off the pace when he's come on. Lads v dads/ traffic cone scenario. I wish him well, but moving on wouldn't be a bad thing. Please don't play him v west ham

I did have a bet on the draw and Wednesday to win, but thankfully we did win. Thought we looked a bit dodgy for a fair bit of the second half, but we got there in the end. Great strike by kolli, he was limping at the end. Hope he can play next week!

Looking at the odds, Sheffield wed are 7 to 1 to win, and a draw is 15 to 4. I'm tempted to bet on both to try and buy a rangers win

I didn't think the first half was too bad, but once they got ahead we had no answer to the time wasting. I do think today part of the problem is the 4-4-2. I think the reason more teams play 4-2-3-1 now is you have that extra body in midfield. Kone and burrell weren't able to hold the ball up and the extra man got Norwich possession time and again. That and our wide players weren't that great, which negates what advantages 4-4-2 brings
