Frank De Boer Bookies Favourite To Replace Koeman
at 20:38:49

not sure that a two year cycle with an upwardly mobile manager is such a bad thing. the last six years have been great - three good coaches fit for purpose. de boer - three year contract two years and move on with Saints in the champions league?

Koeman Situation Nearing Conclusion ! But What Will It Be ?
at 18:35:20

i think is is just a case of koeman can't sign until compensation agreed. gone on holiday whilst saints and everton agree. saints happy to string it out while looking for a replacement. everton not worried as they have their man and nothing much will happen until end of euros. sure an agreement will be reached. koeman wouldnt have looked at everton last year but with the new money and no better vacancies likely to emerge in next couple of years - Arsenal excepted - he's taken the money. If results hadn't turned in the new year he might have been sacked. honour, loyalty etc etc simply aren't relevant in a purely financial relationship based on results.

Saints In Salzburg The Verdict
at 09:55:10

i thought the stripes team were significantly better than the green team, primarily because of Wanyama and Reed competing in central midfield. I was really disappointed with ramirez, gape and Davis in midfield which exposed a real shambles at the back. last couple of years have been built on a solid back seven but with only Fonte remaining in defence and Wanyama in holding midfield, quality replacements are needed.

Adam Lallana Set To Take Out Full Page Advert To Thank Saints Fans
at 20:58:56

Completely agree. The brief statement on the SFC page lacks class. i can't understand why we feel, as supporters, that it is perfectly acceptable to declare Fox, Chaplow, Guly etc as not good enough for Saints as a mid table Premier League team but begrudge AL a move when so many observers feel he can play at a Champions League level. Good luck to AL, not withstanding recent his recent pressure for a move, he has been a great player for us bad times and good times. Saints will continue without him and find a new captain but we should be big enough to acknowledge his contribution with a level of decency and generosity.

Ronald Koeman Early Favourite For Saints Job
at 17:44:09

there is a ceiling above saints. massive investment would be needed to realise the MP/ NC vision well beyond what KL is prepared to commit. Good luck to MP and to Lallana, Shaw and Spider if they decide to take advantage of the sort of profile that comes along maybe once in a career. they've earnt their chance at a tilt at the champions league. for Saints i hope we get a manager that will continue to develop and buy young promising talent. supporting saints for over 50 years at least gives a bit of perspective. club bigger than any manager or player. Is Saints Position Actually Clearer And Stronger Now
at 21:23:42

This seems a very credible interpretation of events. For any "business", the massive investment required and the high risk of failure inherent in challenging for a champions league place is prohibitive. Even for clubs with significantly bigger stadiums and fan bases, it is still a vanity project for multi billionaires in the thrall of football. For somebody like Katherine liebherr it must seem completely mad. i suspect she will seek to sell and that some like Luke Shaw will be sold to balance the books, but with any luck we should still have a team capable of finishing between 6th and 17th on a regular basis.

A Tribute To Ron Davies
at 17:19:02

Just to echo the comments and pay my respects to the brilliant Ron Davies. We moved to Derby from Eastleigh back in 1966 so the majority of the matches that I saw as a youngster were away from home. The 1969 four goal demolition of Man U is still my greatest football memory, watched with my Dad and his friends from the railway works.I loved Ron's caricatures in the Echo and he made being a Saints fan in Derby a bit easier!

RIP Ron - always Saints' centre forward.
