There’s so much great music out there and more accessible than ever. Radio Paradise which is internet only is superb for discovering new stuff.

My question is how do I find more time to listen to all this great stuff?

Sorry for your loss sevenhoop.
A lovely post, he sounds like great guy, you were blessed to have him around for 91 years - that’s a beautiful thing fella.

May he rest in peace.

Way preferable to a 12:30, game and then a few evening drinks - nice.

Pubs in Ealing

Tried the KA Saturday evening. It has a disappointing range of beers (usual suspects ie Fosters, Guinness, Amstell etc) and wines compared to the previous incarnation of the KA.

Staff were pleasant enough although maybe a bit over-attentive for my liking, it doesn't feel much like a pub anymore, they've removed the lovely old bar that was there and there's TV's blaring out all over the place and music coming out of speakers - a bit too much sensory overload for me.

I'm turning into a grumpy old man :-)

The food wasn't bad but don't think I'll be rushing back.

Used to play pool against the Spinning Wheel back in the early 80's - was a great place for a beer.

Long gone I'm afraid.

If you're into proper beers it's a great place to drink. No TV's, all about the beers and chatting. The owner is a lovely, enthusiastic beer nerd named Lucy. They have simple food, often do cheese and biscuits, other snacks - constantly changing the beers so loads of choice.

It's very popular, can get busy at the weekends - well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Coach & Horses is still there - now called The Castlebar - doubt you'd recognise the old place. It's very popular though.

Been in Hanwell 27 years this month - it's not a bad place to live.

Welcome & I hope you enjoy living there!

As a fellow Hanwellian - agreed the Fox is a decent boozer. Have you tried The Dodo micro-pub on the Boston Road? Fantastic place if you're into proper beers.

Disappointed that the Kings Arms closed, I know it's under new owners - mate of mine scouted it out and wasn't impressed with the offering.

Kings Arms, tucked away behind the Ealing Broadway centre in The Grove, proper pub.

Once we have secured our status.

Millwall, Millwall, Millwall.
Then either Stoke or Birmingham - equally odious.

I’m a subscriber to the Triggernometry Pod, Barton was on it recently.

Can be found in a number of places.

Have to confess I enjoyed it. Thought he made some reasonable points.

Was lucky enough to see him play in my early QPR days as a 13-year-old herbert.

A special, special player who along with Dave Thomas had me hooked.

I can't add anything that the other tributes haven't already said, and far more eloquently than I can.

Thanks for the wonderful memories Stan, and see you up the road fella.

My Mrs is from Southsea, we still have connections there, the thirsty c_nut did a similar thing on the seafront - locals were not happy. He bought virtually the whole block and left it for years with hoarding around it - absolute eyesore. How much money does he need?
