Farewell old friend
at 09:28 24 Jul 2024

Sorry to read about your furry buddy BC. Little consolation I'm know, but 15 is a good age for a dog of that size, It absolutely heartbreaking though, they occupy such a large part of your own life and are woven into all of your memories during your time together, cliche I know but they really are part of the family.

I remember packing up the car when my eldest daughter was off to university in 2013, our old boy Ted who was then 6 decided he didn't want her to go, anyway we had said our goodbyes only to find when getting into the car that Ted had other ideas and had climbed into the car via the drivers seat and plonked his 32kg frame in the front passenger seat in protest - a memory that I'll never forget along with all the other funny ones over the years. We lost him in 2020 at 13.5 yrs - still hurts even today.

It'll get easier, and those memories will become more precious, bloody dogs eh? Must be mad to have them.

Look after yourself fella.

Where are all the insects?

Was thinking exactly this a few days ago. I’m also west London.

All the pesticides and insecticides don’t help. Not so many swifts over the skies of west London either this year. Last summer I counted 15 one evening, most I’ve counted this year is 5 so far.

Great bit of business done there. If he wasn't going to sign, then no option other than to cash-in.

He seems like a nice lad, but he's not a natural striker. Okay, he's quick, strong, and (kind of) exciting. He's also, unpredictable, has a poor touch, no composure in front of goal, poor positioning, can't head and is way too emotional.

Some of those shortcomings may be improved with coaching but he's not a kid anymore, look at the likes of Gallen, Austin, Thorpe, Les, Thompson, Crouch and Wells to name a few - it came naturally to them they didn't need to think about it - natural born killers in front of goal. Sincs isn't of that ilk IMO.

Hope he proves me wrong, but I don't see him getting more than 5 goals this season. Might even have bet on his tally.

You deserve a pint for that link!

First DVD I bought and played through my newly acquired dvd player and surround sound system early 00’s.

What a film, what a tune to open with.

Saturday night sorted, thanks!

Ah, the beautiful Lancia Monte Carlo.
My old man had a red Lancia Beta Coupe as his first company car in 1976. One of his colleagues had the Monte Carlo, I remember him doing a swap with him for the weekend - must’ve been summer 77, manna from heaven to a 13yr old car nut, who was, unbeknown to him bang on the cusp of discovering other things in life that elicited extreme levels of arousal.

As for my own favourite, my 1981 VW Golf GTi facelift which I paid £2800 for in 1985, an absolute classic, no frills fun wagon. Not owned anything since that has given me such driving pleasure.
Driving these days is an absolute ball ache in the UK. Or maybe I’m just a miserable old f ucker.

Rumour I heard was that the works were being funded with Russian money and sanctions put the kibosh on it.

Like to see salty Leeds blow it for the second time in a few weeks.

They underestimated us at HQ so fack 'em.

Is the Soton keeper Mccarthy once of our parish?

One of those who quietly gave wonderful service to the club, as has been suggested elsewhere on the thread would be fitting that the club name something in his memory.

RIP Frank.

Done, wish I could do more.
I hope it's a day of fun, reflection and a chance to remember those loved ones who've been lost to this awful disease.

All the best.
